    This album is simply amazing. I've been listening to it all morning and I can't get enough of it. They've released nothing but masterpieces since Monolith.
    Terrasite basically takes the brutality and technicality of Monolith, the nihilistic atmosphere of Anthropocene and the progressive melodic approach of Death Atlas and expands them even further. 5/5 for me. This album checks all the marks for extreme metal for me. This is how it's done!
    A bit early to decide if this is their best record to date, but man, what an experience. Just Another Body blew me away, especially Travis' doomy clean vocals.

    I am genuinely speechless after listening to this. A 5/5 feels like too low a score to give this for me. I knew it was gonna be killer because they've released nothing but killer albums for the past 15 years, but good fucking god!
    I could be controversial here, but I think this could well be my favourite Cattle Decapitation album. I also think it could be one of the most brilliant death metal albums I've ever heard. This is just perfect, it doesn't get much better than this. I'm utterly blown away 🤘🤘🤘🤘

      Like usual, I was not impressed by the new Cattle Decap singles at first, and then next thing I know, I'm listening to them every day and wishing I pre-ordered the album. Even though I missed the pre-order, I'm still going to buy a physical copy to have in may car, and while I'm at it, I might as well buy a few more Cattle Decap CDs. Insanely good. Other than Cattle Decap, Skeletonwitch, and my band, Tides of Technocracy, I don't know many bands that have such a unique approach to extreme metal, while sounding catchy and unpretentious. The new album is so good that it made me want to revisit Monolith and Anthropocene and buy physical copies of those as well. I'm also considering getting Medium Rarities and Karma Bloody Karma, which are two albums/compilations that I haven't listened to yet.

    Combine everything from Human Jerky through Death Atlas you have Terrasite
    Travis's cleans remind me of The Sister's of Mercy
    The starts and stops of Humanure and KBK
    Also that creature on the cover is what Travis envisioned a Terrasite to look like

    Great album. 8/10 from me. Admittedly I’m not the biggest fan of their early albums, but ever since Karma.Bloody.Karma they’ve been incredibly consistent in terms of quality. Travis is one of the best modern vocalists in metal, at least to me. Also if I’m not mistaken the Humanure cover was based off of the album cover for Pink Floyd’s Atom Heart Mother.

    Death Atlas was my favorite album of 2019, just above Tool's Fear Inoculum. That just shows what these guys are capable of. This is a band that gets better and better on every album.
    Terrasite is another devastating album in their already impressive discography. For a deathgrind band, they know how to amplify their sound without, like you've mentioned, compromising their base. Travis Ryan's vocal range... still insane. Those goblin vocals are the pièce-de-résistance everytime, along with the impeccable and stunning songwriting.
    One of my top picks for 2023, that's for sure.

    This is a fucking killer record, I have yet to be disappointed by any of their albums, I agree the lessened black metal elements were missed as they were always one of my favorite aspects of their recent albums but they experimented with many other genre's beyond black metal and they killed that as well while still having that blackened element sprinkled throughout; demonstrating they will never be held down by a genre and are such masters at their craft they can do whatever the hell they want and make it not only consistently amazing but still retain that Cattle Decapitation sound. One of the best parts of this band for me is the fact I've listened to the album twice now and still feel completely unfamiliar with it, their is so much depth in their instrumentation it takes repeated playthroughs to even scratch the surface of their songs. I couldn't even begin to rank it against their other work until I've put months into pulling it apart and savoring what it has to offer under that wall of sound and brutality. I can say it almost certainly will be my album of the year

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  Před rokem

      Necrotic Nick- Totally agree on both those points. They've evolved their sound but have done it well and have expanded their wheelhouse while not alienating their fanbase. A lot of bands tend to struggle with that when it comes down to changing their sound. Yeah, even though I miss their being more black metal worked in where it's employed it works really well here and this brings the riffs. They've almost hit a point in their career where they could be described as progressive to a degree with all their stuff that's been incorporated in their sound. I've jammed this about 6 times so far after the review and the nuances are sinking in even more. This album is a fucking beast and yeah, I would dread ranking this one in the future lol.

    Do i detect a Fear Empiness And Despair era Napalm Death influence or am I full of baloney?

    Another otherworldly experience from a ridiculously talented band... easiest 5/5 I've ever given...I didn't even have to "say," 5/5, I only had to nod my head.
