you have to respect Cixah’s composure with those Plasma Deck runs, I would have lost it with that many bad seeds in a row on White Stake
And to this day there are people arguing every seed can be beaten especially on white stake. not even saying those were unbeatable by nature but it's ridiculous that even speedrunners struggle this much with the RNG.
People also talk about how easy Plasma is, but squared scaling doesn't prevent shit luck from happening, and as it turns out shit luck is the main source of failure in this game
Having formerly played WoW with Cixah he is nothing if not patient with some absolute bullshit
I had a cavendish break a few days ago, but I got another one in literally the next shop, no rerolls, just waiting there like "can I pweese come back?"
I love how every time Gros Michel shows up the crowd goes bananas.
Mad props to the Cixah and the couch for putting on a fantastic show. Was a blast to watch. Great job all!

There's something kinda wild about the *first* Wheel of Fortune of the run not only hitting the 1 in 4, but also giving out a Polychrome...on Plasma Deck ;u;

Even though there are only 10 comments so far, I'm shocked that nobody brought up that they were talking about RNG manipulation and the shop right after that at 10:41 had Oops All Sixes (A joker that affects RNG)

Cixah, I know in an ideal world you take the stage, crush it, set a WR, and everyone applauds.
But things went horribly. And in a different kind of way, that was almost as entertaining and fun to watch. Like, how much worse can the RNG get?
This was wildly entertaining and I had a great time watching this.

I literally missed this run because I was busy doing my own run LOL
Did not expect plasma to be popular with speedrunners, the range of viable strategies with plasma is really small
It's theoretically the fastest if you can get those strategies though. Great for when you're just trying to get the best possible run and can reset as much as you want but maybe not ideal for a gdq run.

this game is so incomprehensible sometimes even to those who have played it and that makes it so entertaining to watch
I didn't play a lot of Balatro, but I never understood why a 1 in 4 chance of my glass card shattering meant that my card would shatter every single time, but a 1 in 4 chance of Wheel of Fortune buffing a joker meant that it would never ever buff the joker. So weird.
It shouldn't surprise me, cause almost every game has a speed run by now, but it did surprise me that one of my favorite palate cleanser games has a speed run

Wow, these runs really angry up the blood. Balatro streams are usually backseat driver magnets, and boy do I have opinions...
So because the plasma deck trolled it's only 2 decks beaten?
I'm guessing they counted that one as done when they made the choice to skip past it. Probably a pre arranged backup plan in case he got terrible RNG, so they wouldnt be resetting plasma decks for the rest of SGDQ

What were the game mods used in this speedrun?
They were cosmetic only-- the deck backs and aces looked different.
I don’t understand why the runner ever skips picking jokers from packs. You can just sell them for some free money worst case.
Similarly for packs of 2 jokers if you only have one slot left, you can buy and sell a joker, then take the one you actually want.
Just a small optimization that maybe helps in some corner cases 😅 really fun watch!
I'm most surprised by ditching the square when he'd already built it up a decent amount. In just a few rounds it would have been by *far* the most effective joker. Scrapping the Square and keeping the banana was unbelievable, he was digging for +60 with Scary Face and face cards when he could have been earning that in no time at all for free.
When he pulled Constellation and talked briefly about how useful it is to have a card that scales over time I could just imagine the poor Square glaring at him from the trashcan.

I keep forgetting this is a skipless run, so I find myself getting mad that he’s skipping the polychrome and negative tags!
What's the goal here?
Get through 8 antes of three rounds each, buying upgrades and enhancing playing cards to score high enough
In this case, do it 3 times with different decks with different starting configurations
What is this speedrun about!
Beat the game three times in a row, each with a different deck, and not skipping any blinds. (So basically, he has to beat 24 blinds per deck.)

some bad luck on the plasma deck runs! although I didn't like the run with the ride the bus and scary face jokers, thought there were some better joker selections that could've been made (both buying and selling).
I don't understand anything that's going on here.
Play poker hands, get joker and other cards to add big number to your poker hands, keep beating the bosses to win.
