Beautiful walk and message! Have you run into other people training for the camino or any other type pilgrimage while on your local walks?

I did meet one person a couple years ago who saw me with my pack on and she had plans to go. But on these training walks people don't usually make conversation. We all have our earbuds in and keep to ourselves. That's the big difference between being at home and being on the Camino. People talk to you on the Camino, sometimes whether you want to talk or not. This is why I talk about preparing yourself for the social atmosphere. No matter where you are on the Camino, everyone talks to everyone. Even people who don't speak English well will try to talk to you. Everyone is excited to be there and be a part of it.

Good question about 100 years in the future. Would I do what I'm doing knowing this....? No, I don't think so. But you do need money to go on trips such as these....:) How many weeks are you training for before you go? -Aurora

I had the same thought back in 2018, that I couldn't afford to leave because everything back home had a cost, making it difficult to travel. So I got rid of everything and was left with just a backpack and a couple boxes in storage. So I'm doing all the travel I can until I can't move anymore. I'll work when I'm 80, I guess. As far as training goes, you don't want to overdo it. You can push too hard and end up straining something. There's no way to fully prepare for the distances on the Camino, so you just want to take the edge off and toughen up your feet a little bit. I spend a couple months building up slowly, walking 5 mi at a time a few days a week. Then I move up to 7 to 10 mi. The past couple of weeks I've been walking every day about 7 mi. I'm leaving in about 3 weeks, so I'll get back down to just a few days walking 7 mi.

BTW...I think I may have messaged you before that I spent quite a bit of time with someone on the last camino who was also a (green witch?) I'm not familiar with any of it, but that's what she told me. After the camino she went to England for that stone circle festival...the Solstice?
