If you think League is 'just a game' you're mistaken. For a lot of people it amount to a LOT. An escape from reality, a false validation, whatever you want to call it. And the player mains have an emotional connect to their champion a lot of the times. Enough to care about their lore, their story, maybe even form a strange parasocial 'love' for them. Same way that some would feel for celebrities. While I personally wouldn't take to 'harassing' riot, I can empathise with their reaction.
They are mentally ill, like 70% of LoL players. Reason I don't play anymore, its literally an insane asylum in LoL.
The funniest part of this to me is everyone looking with fear and anticipation at the Seraphine mains, as they proceeded to... all have a standoff with each other about none of them going off, and it all diffused into chuckling about how it was all kind of silly when you take a step back. It's almost a Monty Python level of betraying expectations XD

Gwen has alot of exclusives: mythmaker, crystal rose, crystal rose prestige and if you count in the LoR star guardian skin that would make 4 exclusive skins.
+ shan hai scrolls soon as well while pc will have to wait at least 2 years (likely more) for yet another epic
Yup Gwen has the worst case here. Especially Star Guardian is a LoR skin which means it probably will never be ported to PC unlike the Wild Rift skins that still have some chance in the future. I feel so bad for Gwen mains.

@@chezux979 Definitely not easy since it's basically just an 2D artwork from LoR, it's a card game so it's gonna take a lot of effort to make the models and the VFXs. I think they probably will port her Crystal Rose skin first since skins from Wild Rift are easier to port.
The problem around the skins are that Wild Rift and League are not on the same page.
Wild Rift get League's skins AND their own (Really creative) exclusive ones.
League on the other hand are just given skins of varying quality that could just be taken by Wild Rift at a later point.
For as near identical as the games try to seem, Their Skin design teams should have proper relay with each other.
(Like what was done for Zeri from League of Legends and Neon from Valorant.)

@@vatsofgoop I'm not a Syndra main, but good is subjective, and ultimately epic skin #59 isn't a legendary skin. Imagine Lux with her skin quantity but never once one of those was a legendary/ultimate, imagine the anger. Most people just want one really nice skin for their champ, since at the end of the day you have to choose 1 to use in game. Also want to clarify Fiddle technically has a legendary, Pantheon has a prestige and mythic, and even a rarer champ like Skarner has a legendary. I think every champ deserves a legendary skin at minimum. Champs shouldn't be getting their second+ legendary and prestige while others have none.
I just wanted to remind everyone that Riot refused to give Pentakill Yorick a hat, which was already an existing model in the game (used in recall), despite the hat being in all official art Riot themselves had published prior to the skin release. Oh and there are champions that haven't gotten a skin in 3 years. But of course Syndra mains feel entitled enough to send death threats.
And the hate and threats worked, too. That's what pisses me off. Everyone was being constructive, polite and chill about asking for his hat and we get nothing. But death threats? Why yes Seraphine mains, we will change her hair style forwards and back

The hat (and yorick not being in the ruined king turn based game AND not being in the event) was why I quit league actually. Yorick was the only champion i really truly enjoyed the hell out of and played basically constantly, so his treatment when his whole lore is about Viego made me just not wanna play anymore tbh.
I will never not be mad about the hat. ):< they keep taking and taking from Yorick, and what does he get? No recognition about his lore. His character discarded, his motivations broken, his hat stolen.
Seeing as you have started covering skin drama cases, any chance you'll give us some info on what's happening with Redeemed Star Guardian Xayah and Rakan ? People seem way too disappointed for a pair of skins they have been waiting for years.
Its mainly the fact that the sell them as skin Variants while they are literally chromas (exact same model/animations/etc as base Star Guardian) and also that in WR theres a special recall for when they recall together and in PC they just used the base Star Guardian one
as a xayah main, it really sucked to see that arcana AND broken covenant xayah/rakan wouldn't be getting their lover's leap special animation, and were just their base one. it's one of the special features of the champions together, they're SUPPOSED to be cooler together. now, seeing that RSG gets the normal SG recall, it just doesn't make sense lore-wise. I'm not too angry about the fact that I have to pay for it again, mostly because we've seen this in the past with eclipse leona, and thought this would be a path they could end up taking.
The worst Part is, riot is lieing about it, they say that they completely redid the Model New, but it's the exact same Model with a colour change, and even skin spotlight had proof of the literally copy pasting the 2019 SG skins, riot won't make a New recall and effects for a legendary skin

i find the skin wars funny to watch, i am a Yorick main and i know how it is to play a dead champion (6 years without new skin) i was happy and surprised that in the last few years Yorick got a skin pre year. i dont even want to imagin how it is for Skarner mains. If you want to complain that your champion doesn't get enough skins remember that somewhere out there is a Skarner main waiting another 5 years in hopes for a skin.

Its both on Rito for setting a precedent, and the whole point is that it shouldn't ever come to that in the first place. I am all for the underdog, tho, have at it. The thing with the colors is that the legendary skins get most of the red - think morgana, evelynn and nami, and the others are in these more purple-ish kind of tones. I think there was some kind of lore related explanation of this (Morgana is a queen of a coven if I remember correctly), but that’s more or less the reason for the not so great color palette of the non legendary coven skins - not only syndra but ahri as well.
I find it funny that a Rioter had to come out and say "no guys please dont take Syndra being delayed as champion bias or that the only way we'll listen is if you send us death we just so happened to agree that this champion design isn't up to standard and coincidentally we have the resources to delay it despite not doing the same for Star Guardian Taliyah, Porcelain Kindred, Soul Fighter Samira and we surely couldnt give Yorick his hat" like this community isn't already hilariously distrustful of the development team and something like this will simply confirm that bias

It has the same feel as RevSaysDesu for Twitter - trusted name bringing you curated deep dive drama/news that you would be interested in because of the addiction to tea spilling, but don't have the time (or sanity) to go digging through yourself. I'm not always a huge fan, because I think deep diving into that content all the time majorly affects my mindset into becoming more negative, but they are genuinely very "train wreck" at times - like you can't look away. LMAO. It's a very successful video style, but I hope that it's not all that he does anymore.

I absolutely love how every single time there is a skin that is badly made, the entire internet of league players go together and come up with solutions that would generally create amazing skins.

One of the rioters responded saying something along the lines of they can't please everyone with giving champ skins for certain themes, but there's no way in hell Riot didn't know Syndra mains really wanted legendary coven Syndra above anything else. Coven isn't a one and done line, it keeps getting new skin batches, if Riot knew they were doing legendary Nami they could've just not had Syndra be with this batch and save her for a later one. Riot has also effectively walked themselves into a corner with Syndra skins too, where it feels like the next one has to be legendary. Also Akali really sneaking in with another prestige is downright disrespectful to Elise and Nilah who don't even have one yet.
I don't understand why Riot can't just make a commitment to giving every champ a legendary and prestige. Would it take time? Sure, but they could say some absurd time-frame of by the 25th anniversary. Do people of mains with tons of skins especially ones with 2 legendaries really crave new skins that badly that Riot can't give love to other champs? I'm a Yasuo main I don't need more Yasuo skins, I'd rather they gave other champs skins, he has plenty. If its about money wasn't the Jhin skin supposed to be for that kinda thing? Even if they still have to make skins for them for money, they don't at the very least need another prestige attached to them.

@@actualplague @abdorr1 He's not mute. He drinks a poison that temporarily turns him mute so he can communicate with his sister. So I understand where the copium for Aphelios mains is coming from. A legendary skin where Aphelios can speak (or remains on the quieter side) and Alune is heard as a manager through his earpiece would be incredibly creative and interesting.
To be frank though, I don't play Aphelios or any of the boyband champions so I couldn't give much of a crap. I will say I'm disappointed Talon isn't in the lineup though. Always thought he'd suit that sort of skinline.

i didnt expect more drama but this was very entertaining to follow up on HAHA thank you for addressing that theyre entirely different games i was about to comment the same thing. its also really important to note that league's crystal rose skinline is VERY different to wild rifts (which is very bridal based, which is popular theme amongst phone game cosmetics) but the league pc platform player base would not respond the same and we have our own crystal rose take instead. im not sure whats going to happen with coven syndra now but at this point they might as well drop a new coven skinline next year with a new plot-forward old god syndra legendary to cover this up as a sequel to the story

What makes Gwen’s mains upsets isn’t only the fact that she got a prestige, is that she got a prestige and a legendary on Wild Rift while PC players waited 2 years seeing the legendary and the star guardian skin just to get a decent epic. Also, her star guardian skin is the only one not in the PC version as of today and this skin line is known for being extremely popular so it’s understandable people are mad to be the only ones left from the party. If you add the 2 years of wait for an epic skin to the exclusives star guardian, legendary and prestige and Crystal rose (which is a “variant” of the skin line a lot of people want to see brought to PC), though I do not think harassement is the proper answer, they have reasons to manifest their anger at Riot albeit in a respectful way

It’s always the champions with the most skins that complain haha. I pretty much play unpopular champions and I’m just chillin. I appreciate all the time and effort that goes in to making skins and splash arts, as an artist I know it’s not easy! Love Necrit’s videos, I’ve always agreed with him 100% and love listening to him haha
Tbh, I would reimagine the vfx like the orbs will be souls from below trying to escape then getting trapped/sucked into the Q ball then her ult can be releasing said spirits reaching out and grabbing onto the selected target. The Qs circling around her would have an animation trying to claw their way out from time to time.
But, I guess that would make the Qs a bit distracting or misleading and it may be a legendary with those kind of animations ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I must admit Gwen and Sera mains do have a point. I am a PC and WR player, and play Sera and Gwen sometimes, and I see maaaaany, several skins that are WR exclusive. So honestly? I kinda feel bad for them.
I'm an Ahri main so I have never had such issues, though. And my Orianna got her Star Guardian skin ported, but I already had it on WR so I had never experienced such pain

What was your reaction when you press cntrl 2 on SG Orianna?
I'm a Jinx main so I'm the original WR exclusive skin. Then on top of that they made it a ranked reward skin so I would have needed to become gold in a short time on a brand new game with controls that, as an adc, are completely unsuited to my normal priorities. I never was able to reliably pick the minion I wanted to auto while csing.
To be fair to the people who don’t like the Syndra skin and what it means; sometimes Riot skin choice can feel like they’re just throwing darts at a board and that’s how they pick who gets what, which is incredibly frustrating.
Everything else tho, that’s whack.
I bet more thought goes into skins than any other aspect of the game and it's clearly influenced by playrate and anticipated sales.

People are genuinly upset that they have to pay 1350rp for thier skin over 1820rp for a little extra stuff. Kinda sad if you ask me. Id be happy with the 1350 varient. Especially when theres far more neglected champs than syndra.

There was another skin that was delayed in the past: DJ Sona. Pretty sure it was due to visual bugs happening during stance switch. I remember cause I was heavily anticipating the skin only for it to be delayed a patch
Riot should say they'll port over the 2 best-selling new skins from wild rift each year or smth. Simps go over to Wild Rift and buy that skin en masse as a way of voting, and a couple of the really well liked skins get ported over.

Kayle's situation was a HUGE harbinger to show the league community the massive amount of disregard the League skin team has about just skins in general. They just focus on what champions will make money and pretend to care about the rest whilst not actually giving a fuck.
1. Riot gives 0 shits about skin line universe lore (Coven Morgana is Legendary, whilst Sun Eater Kayle *The main antagonist of the skin line* is Epic, and Solar Eclipse Sivir *A literal no one in the lore* is Legendary)
2. Riot won't listen to the suggestions/requests on the PBE skin line reddit/forum posts, as seen by numerous skins having issues and weren't changed at all or had changes that no one asked for, and was even admitted to by a Riot employee on Twitter before
3. Riot will never give a fuck and just play the "humanity" card... as presented in this video. These Riot employees will just give players the middle finger for 2/6 or more skins per skin line and then when we get mad about it they'll go "Woah guys hey, you need to calm down! This is exactly why the league community gets the worst reputation because we're just trying to do our job and you guys cuss us out" as they actively just make skins with blatant disregard for how or why they are doing so.
2:06 honestly I care more about the splash art then the actual in game skin, my logic being that I can barely see it ingame anyways but the splash art is very clear. only exception to this is for the extra effects on ultimate and legendary skins.
Kha'Zix mains where heavily complaining about lunar Kha.The skin was clowned upon even by non kha players and noone liked it.We didnt get anything despite our complains but syndra mains got their skin changed by sending death threats.Ig thats what it take for them to take you seriously huh

Devs plan a bestial race, drop constant hints about it. Suddenly are forced to crowbar in a sexy race that some very loud people are screaming about, despite the head of the project saying, multiple times, he has no interest in making them, because they're a single gender race, and he doesn't like single gendered races. Results in two half baked races, one gender each. Both are disappointed.
Excuse me, I mispoke. Beast race are disappointed, but polite. 'Sexy' race starts screaming death threats, and calling the devs transphobic for not adding males (which never existed in the lore).
Guess which side got what they wanted? And guess which side continues to get anything they want, up to and including entire voice tracks specifically for them. And guess which side continues to scream and whine anything anything doesn't cater specifically to them.

The problem is that these are people who want to support the company. Like, you're not obligated to play the game or buy the skins, sure, BUT the company Riot Games have grossed over 20 million dollars from a SINGLE Valorant skin. That's nothing to scoff at. They're constantly ignoring the player base that brought them from small indie company to a main staple of digital gaming, people have the right to complain when they've been playing the games for years and spending their cash on it. :p

Im just hoping we'd get another visual revamp of the ingame models.(though i know thats still near impossible or still in the far future unless they make a new LoL entirely). Im just jealous how the Wild Rift Champion Models looks so freakin detailed.
Perhaps Wild Rift can fix the legendary syndra problem, because even Seraphine got one there, and Gwen got prestige in the crystal rose skinline. And Syndra herself isn't that far away from coming, for what I remember, she's on patch 5.0
I'm not a syndra main but I have to agree that the skin could have looked better.
They could have made the orbs raven skulls instead of feather clumps and it would have worked so much better for those orb colors.

The community has proven time and again that Riot is just lazy, hell some dude just made a new redesign for the client that looks really cool, also I love the custom maps that are impossible to make despite people doing so in their free time with far less resources.

I mean couldn't they make the base model on a software that both league's engine and unity can utilize, and then just take it seperately from there ? @@ihavevisionfearme People seem to really don't understand how working within a company goes. They have data that support their decisions. Seraphine is far more popular in Wild Rift, so thus reading the data it made sense for the Wild Rift dev team to allocate time and resources into making that skin. League team on the other hand work with the data from their PC game, so they decide to spent the dev hours into what will benefit them the most. Usually the ones that really want a skin and complain are a loud very very minor part of the community, considering the bigger picture. They are making a ton of sales from what they are doing.

Honestly I understand that the approach was not a great one, but sometimes it does feel like riot doesn't listen to their playerbase. Sometimes it causes their own players to get extremely upset and I feel like there's always a tipping point for everything and riot really didn't try to avoid that

In Riot´s defense they cannot please everyone. There will be always people who will call out for whatever stupid things and complain about everything they can until they will get what they actually want. By this I´m not saying Riot is perfect, no, Riot did really stupid decisions, fucked up the game etc. but people should think about themselves as well. After all Riot is bunch of people too.
There's just one issue to your argument : This isn't re-creating the skins from scratch, because the design work of the skin is already done. Only the technical part has to be re-made, but the actual concepts are already invented, this is a huge task already skipped.
So, it's easier to port a skin (despite the technical work) than making a brand new one.

It may still be in 360p, but Necrit videos don't even need visuals to sit down and watch them, they certainly make the videos nice sure, but Necrit videos are almost like podcasts half the time.
Also damn, Brightmoon always gets flak for everything Riot does or he has to deal with everything for some others, he seems like a really fun person honestly so its a bit sad.

And anyway about the porting half of wr esclusive skins (at lest the model) are uploaded as custom skin like a few days after the release but actually now that you make me think of it riot is a small indie company so idk if it’s too much effort for them…

Game dev here. It is not that complicated to port a skin from one game engine to another. All you gotta do is export the 3D models, sounds and animations and retarget them in the import engine. Sure, you'd have to rework some animations, but that will take a week tops. There's absolutely no reason for Riot to not release the same skin to both games.
Obviously it's marketing so that people would go play Wild Rift and start over a new account there

Okay, but seriously, as a Gwen player who doesn't even pay any money into League... her getting TWO exclusive skins in different games when she only has four skins in the PC version is... kinda sad.
I was always aware that porting a skin over was basically just "remaking the skin in a new engine", but I always felt like they could just... do that? Like, they make new skins for League all the time anyway and when they already have a good skin concept, why not send that concept to the skin making teams of every game? Obviously, LoR is a different case, since they don't do that many skins anyway, but for a pretty popular champion like Gwen, not just giving her the skins in both games almost feels like a money loss.
And just today it was announced (unofficially) what the changes would be for coven syndra
I remember years ago when Viktor got a skin as part of the psyops line. It was... Basically the same theme most of his skins have. People on the sub reddit were upset. It was a decent skin, and the spell effects are AMAZING. But knowing how long it usually takes to get a skin for an unpopular/not sexy champion, I understand why having something pretty good isn't enough.
Syndra does get more skins than some champions so it's a little better for them but I still feel the players pain.

Long time Dota player here. I had no idea League players had this idol culture-like oshi/bias type of obsession over their preferred hero/champ. I thought being very similar games it would have a similar community to Dota. Boy was I wrong. Thanks for opening my eyes to another weird, yet very interesting, corner of the videogame community. What happens though if their mains are not in the current meta? Do they still play them even if they're ass in the current meta?

I guarantee that if it starts becoming too widespread that it disrupts their workflow, they will legit either close support for anything besides technical issues, or add a filter for anything related to drama so it all goes into the trash and never reaches the employees. If that happened and it became known it was happening, they would get more extreme and go after their personal accounts and such if they aren't already. Yes people are insane, the only way to get them to stop being insane is to ignore them completely and don't even give them a crumb of acknowledgement. Remember there are people out there who spent like 10+ years cataloging every detail of the life of Chris Chan. As long as there is content, there will be drama.
Nah the issue here is that the normal approach you and me would use simply gets ignored, whereas being obnoxious has proven time and time again to work.
Maybe if Riot would actually listen to feedback that is delivered calmly, and keep an eye on things the community is displeased with, things wouldn't get this out of hand.

The problem is she got the Coven legendary skin in the same patch Syndra did, all this knowing Syndra mains have been asking for that specific skin for about 5 years. We love Nami and the skin is great, the thing is Syndra deserved it more (for this skinline) and she got a weird looking fully covered red haired skin that doesn't even fully follows the coven aesthetic
There are 150 or so champions, each with their own mains and all of them want the legendary skins if possible. And the dev time required for that simply doesn't make it possible they please everyone.

It's basically a slap in the face when you just give it to Nami. You could have chosen another skin line for the legendary Nami skin. funniest part, (I did game art and design) porting a skin. is basically pretty simple, you just export the .OBJ (the model) and the texture files, into the pc client. will they do it. eh maybe not (reason beiing as you mentioned, the skeleton and effects wont work, but they could do it. their problem is that they dont know if they will make a profit)

The seraphine star guardian issue angered them because they have been asking for it since her release, only for the skin to be sent in wildrift EXCLUSIVELY. Of course the community wouldnt like it. But yes, they were scary, but thankfully we improved and are respectful to the devs nowadays 😭❤️❤️
