Hey Dave, I'm a life long beginner but having said that, between you and Rusty I have become the guitar player I've always wanted to be. Twang on my friend... And thanks.
Great to hear from you Robert! Rusty is great! Glad it’s working out for you 🙏🎸😎
Love your teaching style I was in a rut but you yanked me out of that rut I really like the Duane and Dicky style of this lesson
Right on 😎🎸✌️
Dave, I really appreciate you! The emphasis you place on learning by playing through your ears and your heart lead to a deeper understanding and a confidence in our own playing.
Thanks man 🙏😎
I think this lesson added more to my playing than one single other thing I've watched in a long time - like years. Wow. Breakthroughs after playing so many years are rare, but so great when you have one. Thanks man !
Great to hear from you and glad it’s helping ✌️
Hey Dave, just found you this morning. Having a great time chillin' and learning. Looking forward to going through all your tutorials.
Hey David. Thanks for checking in it’s great to meet you 🎸🙏😎
Great video Dave. You do a good job of illustrating how a major pentatonic scale based on the 5 chord (D) sounds great over the G chord progression. Sounds like Skynyrd! Well done and easy to follow.
Agree… this is fantastic! Helps us to understand the mixolydian mode through our ears, and not overthinking it.
thanks for posting this. I learned so much.
Glad it’s helping 🙏🎸😎
oh man...another killer lesson. I have learnt more from your videos over the last few months than from any other guitar teacher on youtube. You actually teach in true sense of teaching and throw in bitesize theory without overwhelming us. More than anything I actually really enjoy connecting your jam track to my looper and then playing over it non stop. I had it going for over an hour in one single session! Keep them coming Dave.
So glad you are enjoying “The Twang” Zak. Practicing with the loops is the key to really absorbing the skills, then later you can apply them to other progressions, keys, songs, etc. Keep on jammin 😎
Great lesson love it.
That light keeps coming on Dave Thank you x
Let it shine 😎
Wow! I got more out of this than anything in a long time. I needed that. You explain things in my thinking and style.
Great to hear from you Mark and glad it’s working out 🎸😎
Hey Dave, I just wanted to thank you for doing these videos!! I’m 43, grew up playing thrash metal and blues with a dig on the Allman style!!! The words you choose totally make your lessons understandable and I appreciate that! RIGHT ON my Brother! Thank you!🤙🏽🍻
Great to hear from you and so glad you are enjoying the channel. Thank you for the kind feedback 🙏
Wow, nice teaching! I'm at a plateau in my beginning guitar learning and this is helpful. Thanks!
Great to hear from you Lisa and welcome to The Twang 😎🙏🎸
Dave, you're the man!! I really enjoy your lessons!! Thank you!
Thanks Tele! Have you checked out ToT Open Mic?
@@TaoOfTwangGuitarLessons not yet, but i sure will!!
Thanks Dave 🤙🤙
You filled in some more blanks for me 😊🤙🤙
🤙🤙
I love the way you teach, great job great video. Thanks
Thanks you and welcome to The Twang 🎸
Thank you Dave!
Yeah Mr. twang I’m getting it that’s sweet sound mixing major and minor that sounds so good thanks for what you do and thanks for what you’re teaching..👍👍🇺🇸
Another great lesson Dave! Love the "Dickey Betts" 4 note endless loop ideas! Keep the great vids coming! I'm learning a lot from you and it's freeing up my soloing!
Keep going Jay, you’re doing great! Thanks for the kind feedback 😎
What a great lesson, many thanks 👍
Great to hear from you Ambrose 😎 Welcome to The Twang
Cool addition to the lessons .... many thanks!!
Thanks Phil 🎸 Enjoy
Great lessons! I always learn something i can use and enjoy playing over the backing track without getting too bogged down in the theory.
That’s why we call it “playing”, not getting all worried and agitated lol 😎
Wonderful follow up to an already great video. Thank you for the thoughtful answers to previous questions and the further in-depth analysis. I can camp on this material for weeks! Definitely “next level” stuff.
Thank you. Keep going, you’re doing great 😎
Hi Dave. great stuff you are really getting the message home about expanding the scales and trusting your ear. Thanks
Thanks John. Good hearing from you 🎸
I m not a guitar player
Time ago I played some harmonica
This guitar sound & progressions reminds me of Mick Taylor Such a nice warm feeling
👍
This is going really well Dave, you broaden our musical horizons...Greetings from Istanbul..
Thank you Tanju. Great to hear from you 🎸
another great lesson thank you.
Thanks Ken 😎
Thank you. The description of the scale as a continuum helped me understand. Same G scale, just starting on D instead. Cool.
Glad it’s helping. Thank you 😎
Wow. Just came across this channel. Thank you! You really helped me with several issues in my playing from just this one video! Ive been in a rut for years and when you talked about listening rather than looking at what you are doing and wearing yourself out.... I needed that. Subscribed!
Great to hear from you Jason and welcome to “The Twang” 🙏
Thank you so much!
Now that gotta be good news 😎 Thanks for checking in.
The best🙏
Just found your channel......awesome stuff !
Glad you’re enjoying it! Welcome to The Twang 😎
Thanks! Another great video!!
Thanks Ron 🎸
Dave. I am enjoying where you are taking your channel ... and learning lots! Thanks for the more in-depth discussion of the six note box and which strings to bend.
Good to hear about your progress Ken. Thanks for checking in 😎
Hi Dave,
Love what your doing and the approach you take. Thanks to you my soloing is actually starting to sound like I know what I'm doing. Between this lesson and the one where you suggested playing the G major scale over the Am G D progression I'm playing like a Rock Star. Thanks again.
Great news Ken. Your work is paying off. More lessons coming 🤘
Very much in the style of Dickey Betts ! Great sounds !
I’ll take it lol
I like the flowing sound of your soloing. Kind of reminds of me of some Grateful Dead songs.
Hey I’ll take that lol ✌️Great to hear from you and welcome to The Twang 😎
One day Dave, one day
Labor of love sometimes 🙏
Oh yeah sounds familiar ❤
It's like oh sweet nuthin by the velvet underground , great lesson never thought of that idea before
That’s a good laid back tune 😎

New to your channel Dave. Very impressive, laid back approach, but killer! More please....
Thank you and welcome to The Twang. More coming for sure ☯️
I own an 89 "real" Studio in black exactly like yours. No F holes, but not the BB deal of same time. At first, I didn't like it as it was a gift from my awesome mom in the Eigtees, b/c it had no F holes and it wasn't a "real" 335, now I realise how cool it is to have and own one as they are real Gibson before the "Studiod" of today lack a lot of the quailty. Great sound. I was told mine has "sticky finger" pups?
I like it a lot. Makes more acoustic sound so it’s harder to separate it from the vocal mic. I’ve had two, both from the 80s. This is the better of the two. Studios are great for the money. Good to hear from you 😎
It was always funny to have to stop and verbally (with the Harmonica guy) work out, “ok, key of G standard is A cappo’d on 2, so… do you have a E? “
That’s right. Don’t you use a harp that’s up a fifth for blues or something? Good to hear from you 😎
The opening soloing had 'Jessica' written all over it. (That's what it reminded me of at first). I first thought cause you were soloing with major pentatonics. But, after watching glad to see deeper concepts. Great lesson btw.
That’s a great tune and this is certainly in the spirit of Betts’ style. Great to hear from you and keep on jammin 😎
i think its sounds exactly like cant you see by marshall tucker
Thanks great lover of southern rock... How about a little blue sky from Dicky Betts?
I do dig the Allmans 🎸
Love your laid back approach. I have taken some steps forward in my never ending Guitar journey after watching your videos. Do I hear some Toy Caldwell in there?
I hope there a little Caldwell in all of us. Glad it’s a fit for you Roy! Keep on Twangn’ 😎
This intro made me jump off and go listen to Marshall Tucker band can't You see. But I'm back to watch the rest of it now 🤘🤘
If you went out of your way to listen to Marshall Tucker then I have succeeded for today 🙏😎✌️🎸
@@TaoOfTwangGuitarLessons I was kinda proud of myself. The chord progressions in your video are the same chord progressions the Marshall Tucker song and I identified that. First time that's ever happened to me
reminds me a lot of Cant you see by marshall tucker
Same idea yes! Good to hear from you Ian 😎
Eyes closed sounds like Marshall Tucker or my great friend dicky Betts of Sarasota fl
Everybody need a friend like D. Betts! More to that story…😎✌️
So if you take any major do-re-mi scale, and instead of starting on "do" you start on "sol" (on the V instead of on the I) that yields
"sol myxolidian'?
You got it! And that mixolydian scale can be used in a lot of situations over dominant seventh chords, and doesn’t necessarily have to be the V chord in the progression.
Good one! Stay loose I think is what you're implying.
Right on. 100 percent 😎
G-A-B-C-D-E-F#-G-A-B-C-D-E-F#
D-E-F#-G-A-B-C
(mixolidian)?
From D to D yes. D Mixolydian, you got it 😎
