JURASSIC PARK / JURASSIC WORLD Filming Locations You Can Visit on Your Hawaii Trip!

- This is a video of the Jurassic Park Franchise Filming Locaitons we visited over several trips to Hawaii.
These are some spectacular sites to check out even if you are not into the movies.
The producers chose the best areas on the Hawaii islands of Kauai and Oahu to shoot on, so you are bound to be impressed if you go check them out for yourself.
Some you have to hike to, others you have to fly to, then some are right on the side of the road. Some are free to visit and others you have to pay for a tour. A few are private land and you are not allowed to access the location without special premission.
In the video you will find the following 11 locations that have been used for the key scenes listed but also for many others through the movie franchise films including the new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Thanks! I made some decals on a machine I have access to back home and stuck them on our rental Jeep for effect. It was funny because it allowed us to be waved in by security and get onto the basecamp for Jurassic World. We didn't hang around long because we didn't them to realize their mistake and kick us out. I ran into the head of security for the film later on at a restaurant and he knew who we were. After learning that our intentions were harmless we had a good laugh about it and he told us a bit about their shooting schedule etc.

Unfortunately these sights are not all run by any tour company except the Jurassic falls landing tour (which is provided by Island Helicopters as they are the only ones that land at the falls). The tree they slept in is at a Botanical garden you can pay to visit and go on a tour to see (these are both on Kauai). On Oahu, Kualoa Ranch has several movie tours to get you to several locations but not all tours visit the Indominous Rex paddock. Be sure to inquire specifically.

Lol I could care less about the newer movie locations the original is the best. Really is a movie that makes you feel good and takes you back. I was in 8th grade when the movie came out and Ive watched it more times than years I've lived and I'm 43. Awesome movie

So for the T-Rex paddock was there actually a road that they filmed on in that location, or was the background of the mountains just used and then added in later after they filmed on a sound stage? Because it looks like there is no place to stand.
Yes and no. The road that leads you to the Jurassic Gates keeps going and eventually ends near the river that is shown in this video from above. Where this road ends is the location that was cleared to create the scene where the vehicles first approach the paddock. The tunnel opening behind them and the fence was all created for this scene. The mountains are in the background there. The trees do block some of the mountain view in this area now but walk a bit and you'll see them in their full glory. The larger portion of the mountain is actually not shown in the movie, the portion that is known as the "Blue Hole" to locals. Keep in mind that the drive to this location is rough. You will not get there without a Jeep. There is a secondary access road but its not really better.
I drove as far as I could, parked and walked a half hour to this location. It seemed the safer bet. For added fun you can hike up the river deep into the Blue Hole, just be aware of flash floods that can raise the river 7 feet in an hour.
Makerlight Family oh ok, thanks for your reply! Yeah I was just curious because you showed a view of the paddock location from the air so I was a bit confused. As I know some of it was filmed on location in Hawaii after the hurricane it was filmed on a soundstage. But yeah, I was actually able to find a video of someone actually driving through that location.

Just got back from Hawaii the entire time I was hoping to see a raptor jump out but never happened. You definitely have the Jurassic feeling when you're there loved every minute I was there

For the helicopter tour of the falls we used Island Helicopters on Kauai. It’s the only one that lands at the falls. Kualoa Ranch on Oahu is a place that offers their own tours of the valley and indominous rex paddock and more. Everything else you go and visit on your own without a tour. Some places like the botanical gardens requires admission.

just did the Kualoa ranch tour, the sets are made of styrofoam and cannot survive the rain and humidity so they remove them after filming

I believe the standing poles were not actually where the gate was located. It was actually a few hundred feet further ahead of the standing poles on that road.
