Nice coverage of damage and 13Z coupling up,the trains and motors always come out on top, alot of GE and EMD locomotives can weigh up to 250 tons fully fueld up, He did a number on truck 🚚 and vehicles. Most of the accidents I've seen on the news out of Roanoke VA it's usually just bent hand rails and broken ditch lights, engines are built to withstand brutal collisions, even have anti climbers to prevent them from riding up on another engine incase of a head on,thanks for filming this!🛤🚂

A little FYI, general rule is 20 feet either side of track from center of rail is considered RR property or right of way. It can vary from state to state also.

Those private (otherwise unprotected) grade crossings are becoming more and more dangerous, just like the truck full of dirt and boulders that crossed in front of Amtrak on the old ATSF main in Missouri.
In that case, there was a private crossing, set on a curve, so the errant truck driver didn't see the train until it was upon him.

I was reminded a little of an incident at took place at the Powell, TN RR crossings where an elderly lady crashed her car down the tracks. She was disoriented and was taken to the ER when emergency services arrived, and the car was towed away. I hope she’s alright and that her family was able to take care of insurance for the wrecked car. I was there when it happened and had permission to recorded the aftermath.

Why Road and Railway Design Engineers can't think outside the box to grade crossings like this, all across the country - less pronounced, is beyond me.
I get that each situation is different with regards to where to begin increasing the grade from adjacent roadways to meet the tracks but it most certainly can be done.
If they have to start grading up at 1/8th of a mile, in all directions away from the tracks so no more tractor trailers get stuck, then so be it. It's not that hard.

It's up to the city, county, state or whomever "owns" the street/road to make the decision which crossings get signal/gate protection. "They" have to pay for the installation and the RR does the maintenance there after.

Private crossing! Pay attention to details! Controlled by a stop sign. The truck driver's fault 100%.
