I have to wonder whether Melissa’s big number, rather than “Maybe This Time,” is “Rose’s Turn” from Gypsy. Notoriously one of the toughest songs to pull off in the Broadway canon, it would be amazing to see what they make of it.

I'm curious if Schmicago is the result of them being in Schmigadoon. I know we get the line "you can never return" but in tribulation (which I've had on repeat) they talk about the town turning into something like Schmicago.
So wondering if Melissa & Josh's influence is what causes this.
Yes No Maybe...I don't know...the thing is, Schmigadoon was more of 50's-60's muscials, and now we're getting into the 70's with Hair?Godspell? and the 80's with Caberet, Chicago and Sweeney Todd. The audience and the times changed.

You're the best for Schmigadoon breakdowns. My sister I watched the first season together and since she's a musical laymen I had to point out a ton of references she didn't know. But you point out a TOOOONNN of references I didn't know so I'm trying to pass them along.
I think the creepy couple is supposed to be a Madam and Monsieur Thenardier from Les Mis, and the sergent Rivera is a Javert type character.

even though i dont like the chicago movie although ive only seen probably less than half of it, im so excited for this season and it being set in the musicals that were from when chicago came out and set in the time period of like the 1920s cause i love the fasion and hair from that time. so im really excited about the makeup and wardrobe and hair.

That’s interesting. I didn’t catch the gypsy reference. And I call myself a woman of the theater. (Hangs head and shame). Anyway, I’ve been bingeing like Schmigadoon like I’ve been mainlining Schmigadoon both seasons, and I’m going to go into withdrawal if they don’t come out with a season three. I loved romantic Schmigadoon perhaps a little more than glitzy Chicago but both seasons I’ve been bingeing like hell. So I’m just wondering what season three going to be? Is there a season three? And what era of musicals are they going to do next?
Other than being Billy Flynn, is Jane Krakowski also a Bobby/Bobbie?

@@broadwaybyghostlight I mean it fits the era perfectly even if the hat tip we're getting is Sweeney, especially if things continue to be more movie musical heavy (even if the recorded version we all know and love was in fact 1982)
