    This is so so helpful for me! I'm currently going to be relocated to the Seoul office in April and this is really helping me find out what to expect. Thank you!

    Im more curious about videos like this like everyday life living, doing other jobs like freelance or business, opinions on neighborhood, perspective on social cultural life etc.

    This is what I observed from watching k dramas. You did not mention the team dinners, they like to go to and it always seem when the boss offers alcohol one cannot refuse - it's that a klk drama thing but not in real life?

      Good observation! Company dinners aren't part of my company's culture; that's why I didn't mention it. The only times it happened last year were at our annual company outing (we went on a hike and then had dinner) and after our end-of-the-year yearly company party. In both instances, people left earlier than the boss, and no one was forced to drink. It really depends on the company's culture. Besides the CEO and the 2nd in command, everyone is in their mid-20s and mid-30s, so I guess that helps with eradicating toxicity LOL

      as a korean working in korea, I can say that culture died out quite a bit after corona. It was already sort of a dying out culture, with more and more companies leaning away from it and mostly just doing it out of habit.
      Don't get me wrong, it still exists. Especially if your boss is one of those bosses that really likes that kind of culture and forces it down everyone's throats, but in most cases, it is lot less frequent, and the drinking culture has changed to drink however much you like and go home before it gets too late.
      Also, the entertainment industry is the most notorious to having these kind of team dinners, so I have a suspicion that that is the reason why it is so prevalent in dramas and such.

    Do you have to be fluent in Korean to get a corporate position in Korea?

    • @Missklei
      @Missklei  Před 5 měsíci +1

      No, as long as you know how to read, write, and have conversations, you're good to go. As you work, you'll get better with time and experience. However, they will need proof of proficiency, and that can be your topik score or the completion of a language program.

      @@Missklei ahhh so you need to have a basic level of Korean proficiency to apply? How long did it take you to learn Korean? Any tips? I’m not from South Korea but I wanted to move there for work. I don’t want to teach at all.

    • @Missklei

      Not basic. Intermediate or higher. It took me a year and a half. And for my experience at Sogang or any tips, I have made videos about it on my channel
