  • Digging a pond in clay soil and improving the spawning season by providing a better spawning substrate for the fish. Sure, bass and bluegill will spawn on the clay, but adding some pea gravel can really improve the hatch rate of the eggs, as well as provide more food for the top predators.

    A shovel full of gravel is probably twenty pounds times several hundred scoops is hard on us guys over 55.

    easiest way is having a slinger truck spread it, zero work except the tarp.

    Bad idea to use anything with ruff edges. It will cut the BG when they are fanning the beds. Pea Gravel is perfect.
