Digging a pond in clay soil. It' was time to get serious, so I dug a well. Part 5.
zhlédnutí 669Před 8 měsíci
The weather was too dry and the pond dam was drying out so much, it was beginning to crack. I was afraid to wait on all of the "slow burn" approaches to work, so we went for the sure fire way to ensure a permanent water source. We had a well dug, and at a production of 30 gallons per minute, the well was the best thing I could have done for the pond.
Digging a pond in clay soil, and collecting more rain water by diverting land drainage. Part 4.
zhlédnutí 810Před 11 měsíci
After a while, it became apparent that I didn't have quite enough land draining into the pond. Luckily, I had two more acres that were draining rainwater straight to the street drainage system. I was able to redirect that water to the pond with a plastic culvert under the driveway.

Ten Reasons (plus one) Home Warranty Companies are a Scam

Honestly. My ex coworker introduced me to Choice Home Warranty. His family are sooo hard on a home. They were repairing things unbelievably. I years ago canceled after buying my home because the company that I had covered everything until I need it covered. Anyway Home Choice had been so good to him that I went with them. CHW had been so great to me that I referred over 6 other people. However, I recently ran into an issue with them, but I didn’t let up and they fulfilled/corrected the issue (surprisingly). I had a garbage disposal that needed replacing. That contractor put in an old broken disposal, then returned to replace it with an old rusted garbage disposal (I called CHW and put that contractor out of my home). CHW told me that he had to correct it because they paid him to put a new one in and that they would not pay another contractor to complete/correct the issue. God is good!!! CHW sent a new contractor that said that they came to repair the current one. I told him no sir. I do not want that in my home any longer. He put a request in to replace it and they approved it. Thank You Lord! You are speaking the full truth I WISH THAT I WOULD HAVE RAN ACROSS YOU IN THE BEGINNING!! I paid for a 3yr contract (I don’t like bills) And I’m only 1yr into my contract 😢

I self installed the mr cool diy 4 zone a few years ago. 1/3rd the cost of the pros and I had fun doing it. It took about 3 days for me and one day for my dad who helped out. No license required, I talked to the town and they said homeowners just need an electrical permit, that’s it. Special tools aren’t that expensive. I just bought crows feet wrenches instead of an hvac torque wrench. Also it’s worked down to 5 degrees fwiw.

They have CAPS ON THE WALLS AT 10 feet 8 and at 30 WIDE FOR STRUCTURAL REASONS so if you expand to the wider then you are doing the industrial spans and they have to get that type steel structural frames to pass building codes eh otherwise the load walls wont pass so the structure walls they can do for spans the PURLINS across eh cant exceed the 30 in the building codes if you read them same with the damn 10 . 8 feet up so if you want a 40 across with a twenty span the guys cant lift that they will have to rent out the damn heavy equipment where as if you are making house and doing regular frame they can have crew guys lift without the major ones they wont they will rent heavy equipment. Also likely they know you are NOT building according to code a house with regular architecture plans so the special inspections and permits and building inspector hassles and slow downs in wages while they wait and also they know you are doing industrial if you need more than 30 across for a room as no non comercial needs more than 30 PER ROOM so reduce it by keeping EACH ROOM UNDER THIRTY so you lower cost purlins are across and have several feet each side to anchor and go over walls so REDUCE EACH ROOM ACROSS to under thirty otherwsie you are making a major garage or studio or BUSINESS NOT RESIDENTIAL and if so they know the LOANS are different not mortgage but at a percentage of it to loan off lands and if you are doing that for commercial to start instead rent then they know you are a mark as a BUSINESS not residential owner but if you say i want a house and it could be more than thirty if you are handy man READ THE CODES NONE OVER THIRTY NONE OVER 10 8 unless you are going up to massive steel framing etc in which case if you are tech billionaire they can make you whatever design you want you will pay if you are regular shmoe then build UNDER THIRTY PER ROOM if you say but i thought it would be cheaper with less walls and then NO LOAD BEARING WALLS EH so NOT SMART UNLESS YOU SIZE UP AND THEN MORE MONEY so just design your house with TWO ROOMS ACROSS and have a nice entrance way across to connect a livingroom kitchen but stay UNDER THE THIRTY FOR CODES and WALLS UNDER 10 feet 8 or BUILDING INSPECTOR WILL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE LOLOLOLOL

DIY is here to stay based on the hacks that try to install anything. HVAC "pros" are some of the worst hacks. Our furnace was scabbed in twice, the ducts had huge holes, no care for attaching the return to the side of the furnace in any sense of tightness. Don't be scared. Don't be telling folks the defrost will make it cold and drafty inside. That is false, the fan should not be running inside. Please go watch diy hvac, dave tells it how it is. Find a good local company to do the commissioning. Or just do it your self and eat the lack of warranty. That is how its going lately. They may provide parts but you then again need a pro to come install it. And then pay their labor. Tell me if there are good folks to do a diy starup and get the warranty called in.

I visited the Science Museum in Minneapolis with some students recently. They have a large one, the kids were fascinated! It used a fogger on the bottom (maybe top, too). Four pipes with air holes angled inward (same effect as your slots) ran the full height. What was cool is visitors can reach into the vortex and disrupt it, they are relatively fragile things! I came here looking for ideas to try in the classroom, thanks for the ideas!

As a witness to a company I worked for, the reason why there's so many positive reviews is that their own employees go on and post bogus reviews to make it look like their 5 stars. But this is just mere speculation on my party what these Home Warranty cvompanies MIGHT be doing. I never give a 5 star review as there's ALWAYS something that can be improved on.

I have a 10 metre x 15 metre shed build starting today. 32.8 feet x 40.2 feet. I am in Australia and you can't legally build a shed without local council approval and a building certifier. That way they make sure it is designed and engineered correctly, meets all weather and building codes. In order to get this the building supplier has to provide all drawings, engineering plans and construction details. They provide these via a client portal on the internet. The shed components (kit) was a custom design by myself and cost me AUS$26,423.(USD$17,562) delivered to site. Windows were extra and I sourced those myself. My builders are arriving on site today (Sunday) and as I am remote they are camping on site for a week. Here's a link to the build if interested czcams.com/video/B5MLC4qEfdU/video.html
