Wait that extra slot is actually such an insane touch. I love the idea
I think its still like last year, its not like LCK and LPL can have 5 seeds. Only that the MSI Winner is secured a spot at Worlds
@@combeebrian247 and the runner up region secures the other 4th slot too from what I understand
Thanks Valorant
@@combeebrian247 no, from what I understand the winner of MSI gets a spot regardless of the region. Meaning that if for example T1 wins, then they secure the "MSI spot". LCK#1, #2, #3, and #4 spots are still available. And if T1 should take one of them, then it will be granted to the LCK#5.
Same reasoning for the runner up, except that he still has to be in the top 5 of his region to be qualified.
@@hugodecarvalho7932 No, by default every region has 3 slots available this time. Past worlds does not give a 4th slot to LCK/LPL automatically now. MSI performance will decide which 2 regions get 4 seeds, and which 2 regions stay with 3 seeds.
The instant spot at worlds AND the extra slots for your region is a really good addition, this will make the tournament much more exciting with way more on the line. What they didn't mention though, is that if the team that wins MSI, for some reason, doesn't make playoffs in summer, their region does not get the extra spot at worlds. Granted seems very unlikely, but crazier things have happened.
it was posted in LOL Esports before Spring started that MSI winner is only require to participate in summer season and will still qualify in Worlds even if they didn't qualify in summer playoffs.
The MSI Champion seed will only become effective if the winning team reaches the Playoffs in their domestic Summer split
Why do I feel this would have happened to 2020 C9?
so
- only the runner up are guaranteed an additional slot for worlds. (4 slots from whole summer season + playoffs)
- the winner of MSi will have a direct invite regardless if they reach their respective summer playoffs or not
- if they reached their summer playoffs, then that region will gain an additional 4th slot (3 for summer and 1 from MSi)
- if the winner of MSi failed to reach playoffs, they still get direct invite BUT their region will only have 3 slots (2 for summer season +playoffs and 1 from MSi winner)
- with the events of MSi winner failed to reach playoffs, they might hold a qualifying series (like last year's WQS) where NA vs EU
overall this is more of a unfair for the MSi winners rather than the runner ups imo.
they might 1up the MSI qualifying series by making the 3 major (excluding the region with 4 slots already)
battle it out for that one slot (probably the highest non-qualified team for worlds for each region)
or
riot might be nice and make the 4 minor regions battle it out instead.
@@nesshin3200 This was recently said after spring that it had to qualify for playoffs in summer, and was updated on all the MSI pages (liquipedia, lolfandom etc).
So if it was changed then mb, but I was pretty certain it was playoffs
edit: I misread your comment and I think you misread mine, I was talking about the extra spot for the region. Worlds is secured, but the extra spot they get relies on whether or not they reach playoffs. If they don't, their region does not get the extra worlds spot.
They put in the MAd vs T1 16 minute game in the highlights LOL

I couldn't believe it either till I paid for the tickets 😂
I can’t wait for MSI 2024!
Appreciation comment: The graphics look stunning! Great work to the designers, it's lovely!
Thanks!
No problem 👍
It's cool for sure but not so clear as I would have wished for, for an Format Explainer, I sometimes had to double check
@@leeccilee7605 was gonna say the same, feels to confusing crowded etc. But still, this seems more like a league event skin game, than MSI event, idk why nocturne is there? xD
Can i ask a question?
Any one know this effect or animation style ???
Thanks!!!
this year MSI is going to be intense!
same champs every game 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
We agree 🔥🔥
@@johnnymonsterrrr Hey now, are you really complaning about watching an Azir last hit for 20 minutes against an Oriana?
I love that the first place team from MSI gets an immediate seed at worlds, it makes so much sense, I honestly thought about it before and was surprised to find out it wasn't the case
10M for explaining video is crazy
Bring back Epic Draft selection. THe tense sound of picking champions, the scary bans sfx.🙏
The funny thing is, ever since I upgraded to a MSI motherboard, League and Vanguard are going nuts and I cant play League without disabling the anticheat, great programming

The graphics team went CRAZY on this one 🔥
It's the most wonderful time, of the year.
I want T1 to win, but it's pretty much a given at this point that MSI is LPL's unbreakable plot armor, especially when its taking place in their home country. I'm expecting to see BLG lift the trophy
LPL teams are not very good against T1, they have always done well against LPL
@@PatBat3manyeah always
@@PatBat3man T1 got smoked by LPL at MSI last year tho. The meta matter a lot

double elimination ??? GenG wins this MSI.
My eyes burns.
Love the format of MSI, and please keep the format of Worlds 2023 in this year as well, Swiss stage was SICK!
Nah, I would rather see this MSI format be implemented in Worlds.
ngl, swiss had a lot of problems, people are just not facing it
@@aliceherring-bv4xg true, cs:go uses that format tons of times
Now the real tournament begins.

grinding these teams for 19 days. hahaha

So it that mean if two teams in same region meet in the final they can sent two teams more to worlds2024?
Cant wait!!
MSI WORLD CUP 2024 LEAGUE OF LEGEND 😱😱☑️
For play-ins the 2nd match of lower bracket should've been a bracket swap to avoid rematches. The main bracket should also have a stipulation that intraregional matches are avoided until it's impossible. Apart from that it's a great format.
Yeah last year we got perhaps the worst possible opening two sets of matches with region overlap. All it took was one upset in the first bo5s but it didn't happen :(
The problem was they used Hercules (disney) instead of Heracles (Greek) or Hercules (Roman) for the image so it's basically setting up for a confusion
Maybe try again with the colour choices. Black on a red background is super hard to read.
So hype, g2 lessgo

So when its a TL vs FLY final LCS is getting 5 or 6 worlds spots?
Go go go
It would be nice if you could make the drops disenchantable again (after we unlocked them).
Also, when will the matchups get announced/drawn?
Matches will be drawn after lpl finals
OK can someone explain me one thing I didn't understand? So if a LPL/LCK team wins they get qualified and the region gets an extra spot, so since these regions have 4 spots currently does it mean they can send a total of 5 teams to worlds, or is there a maximum number of slots?
not doing black on red backgrounds is like literally the first thing you learn in graphic design lmao, this is genuinely painful to look at
i think its alright
its supposed to be an eye-sore i reckon. Looks dope
@@bapobthere’s no reason to do that. It’s just bad decisions making not some cope reasoning they made to do it that way lol

What do you think of this year's format?
By far the best format, way better than worlds.
Love it
they only thing I dont like about double elim is the finals.
f.e. if you win all series until finals and only lose finals series the team that lost a series before finals becomes champ thats kinda lame imo.
double eliminated in a winner takes all event is auto L
Because doing a bracket reset is not feasible for anything but fighting games. @@DeppiiTV

wait so lets say its a t1 geng final then will lck have 6 seeds? or the same for lpl?
As a graphic designer - I must say I love the motion graphics with the bleeding-ink type, how it flows together with all of the colors and the overall graphics and again, motion - really well done!!!
The concept is fine, but the combination of colors and that effect hurts the eyes in a literal way, not for everyone, but for some and maybe after watching this over and over again during MSI, people will start to feel that, too.
@@znici6871 I highly doubt it, but I also understand the criticism.
Does that actually mean 5 slots for the winning region, if it's a mirror region finals? That'd be hilarious.
Only 4 max, MSI Champion gets 1.
2nd region that made it further (meaning top 3 or being runner-up), they'll get the other seed for their own region.
13 days left! The hype is real 🫡🔥🔥🔥🔥
We're almost there! 👊 Any early predictions?
The only thing can surprise me is that PCS/VCS beat LEC/LCS to go bracket stage or LEC/LCS beat LPL/LCK to go final or something
I wouldn’t say the first outcome is too unlikely, the second one though seems to be all hopium in G2.
@@kwartic NRG 2-0
I know no team will opt into sacking themselves in summer if they won MSI, but there is a case that winning enough to make playoffs / keep themselves fresh vs burning themselves out so early to attempt making worlds is a good strategy. In particular, for LPL this would be even more interesting since LPL's playoffs are ruthless. There is no guarantee getting through that.
yeah, rng 2022 was a good example to look at
You're all forgetting they also want to win their local titles, it's not only about the WC. The example of RNG isn't good, RNG were 1 loss away from not qualifying & then they had to go through the long run in Play-ins. It's not RNG were sandbagging, they had Bin in Spring, in Summer, the synergy with Breathe was different.
Explanation video that leaves you with more questions! 😂😂
Dagda the Goat caster
subtitles arent in sync
Okay thats pretty nice. LCK or LPL are guaranteed an extra slot, AND either, probably, BLG or GenG are guaranteed a Worlds slot. Not that they really needed that, but its still neat
Bro. T1 is winning MSI
If it aint T1 then its BLG but GenG? What a joke
@pitzuki4849 Thats funny, but no theyre not. Itll be BLG or GenG. If TES and BLG make it to finals, BLG wins. If TES and GenG make it to finals, GenG wins. If GenG and BLG make it to finals, BLG probably wins. T1 will definitely beat TES, but they probably arent beating BLG and definitely arent beating GenG. Its MSI, not Worlds.
I thought it was Valorant Masters event because of the theme
Guys this is the year for NA I swear (T1 is going to take it all)
Does this means that Lck or lpl are sending 5 teams to Worlds?
I never thought I would say this but I think that there are too many Bo5s 😅.
The Double Elim Bracket last year got kinda dull with only 2 teams playing for 1 full day for opening matches.
Gotta say this video shouldnt be watched in dark room,my EYES man.
Just hope that we can avoid same region playoff matches like last year
Here's hoping.
Yea sure "be log in for drops" guys did u try to turn it on? +1k games 0 drops
lower bracket love it
Revenge arc format 🌶
wait, VCS is allowed a spot after all that matchfixing?
those were allegations only
@@MrZedddddno there was plenty of proof of it lmao
If i remember correctly, all the people involve in matchfixing are actually out. Certain teams just quit the league and the others had to create a new roster with players left.
Yes, Riot themselves intervened so that any VCS teams that can build a roster to participate in playoffs will be eligible for the MSI slot, thats why you see SofM (World's 2020 finalist) and Optimus (2017 GAM midlaner) came out of retirement to play in the VCS playoffs
Orgs weren't behind those, so why to punish them? It was only some players here and there, even if it was in the all 8 VCS teams and orgs said they weren't going to protect anyone that could be found guilty. Teams are allowed to get subs, it's not exclusive to this incident. They got full rosters, then 4 teams continued to participate.
The colors are hurting my eyes
I'm sorry but the constant flashing of this neon red was borderline hard to watch. How did this pass through accessibility reviews?
My eyes
Oh god my eyes...
I don't understand the lower bracket. Every one that loses his Bo5 goes to lower bracket but can they still win MSI?
As far as i can see only the people in higher bracket can go to the final but why is there a lower bracket? Just for funsies?
Please split the screen into 3!!
This format is actually better than Worlds'

Best tournament of the year.
Bring back quickshot
Laughing at 0:16😂
Let's go NA!
Imo double elim doesnt make sense with the format in league rn. Theres so little advantage to the team going to the finals from winners side, would make much more sense if it was more like in fighting games, where the team from losers side has to force a bracket reset before winning, maybe in league a final game “tiebreaker” if the losers bracket team wins the bo5
If by any chance the loser bracket team 3-0 the winner bracket team, then the winner bracket team wins the tiebreaker game. It would feel terrible to crown the team as the champion with a 1-3 record on the last day of msi.
The fairest thing to do is do another bo5 if ever the lower bracket team wins the first series. But this would be a bad idea since it takes too long and it's exhausting to the players.
A good alternative is, make the championship series a bo7 but start with a 1-0 score in favor of the winner bracket team.

I miss having quickshot explain the formats... Icon voice to the sport and now he's gone 😢
So if somehow the MSI Winners, qualify for playoffs, what would their seed be assuming they didnt became Summer Champions(1st) or have the highest Championship points(2nd)? Will they be a 3rd or 4th seed? Of course they dont need to go to Regionals right? Coz they're already qualified for Worlds?
@@minhkhoitrankhai7440 last year's 4th seed of LCK and LPL didnt go to playins tho. But yeah, forgot they could just let Regionals winner and MSI winners, kinda like what happened in 2021 where both T1 and HLE are already in at Worlds but only did a Bo5 to decide the seedings
the red is so red wtf it hurst my eyes

Lck and lpl should have 3 teams. Nobody can argue against them being the best regions. It would make everyone happy to see more lck vs lpl matches.

I can't believe T1 playing in Play-Ins it must be horrible for the other teams 😂

Vamoos Estraal🦅!!
🤣
nobody talking about that nocturn skin?
So if finals is LPL vs LPL there would theoretically be 5 LPL teams at worlds?
No, the second best region will get the other spot.
No.Only 4.
It's mean 1st team and 2nd region will get Worlds' slot
If same region gets 1st and 2nd,the region has 3rd team will get the slot.
I like loser bracket but now when the upper bracket team doesn't even get 1 loss while the loser bracket teams get 1 loss and can still come back and win. It should be a format if the winning time loses in the grand finals then it does a bracket reset regardless of the time it takes. That would be just fair
that's the downside of loser bracket for grand finals.. but the theory behind is that the last two teams at grand finals is all or nothing, and the odds of winning goes to the undefeated team who did not lose in the upper bracket
@@almightyraven8220 but the odds of winning doesn't really change statistically to any team in particular at grand finals. I bet they would change it if T1 went undefeated and beat an LPL team. But later that same LPL team met again at the grand finals and beat them so the score would be 1-1 but the LPL team ended up with the trophy. At 1-1 it should reset and Another match should take place right after for a sudden death or something regardless of the supposed advantage cause the upper bracket doesn't really give any advantages for the grand finals per-say besides side selection
My eyes…
is it just me or is the video insanely blurry sometimes, might be a graphical design, but i kinda dislike it; lets look forward to msi 2024
Estoy como niño esperando navidad xd
so one region could have 6 teams for worlds?
Fair to say, the Play-ins format this time just accepts it's a filler, because, it's all Bo3s, which means it'll be short and it only wants LPL, LCK, LEC & LCS to qualify rapidly.
Skt vs tl lol let's go !!
