I bought a set on the Bay. UNBELIEVABLY cheap!!! I am so glad you made this video because I haven't got them yet but I did see the steel arbors which really excited me. I think that red stand is to use while you remove the arbor. I'm going to see if it fits my Bergeon right hand handle and if it does I'll buy a left hand handle. I'll be interested to see what they look like next a Bergeon. The owner of Bergeon must be a multi billiionare!!!
The biggest issue that I had with the cheap sets was that when I found the right size winder to fit the barrel, it would not accept an arbor large enough to fit the mainspring. My solution was to drill out the arbor holes on some of the winders to accept larger arbors. Still I had some mainsprings that needed larger arbors than the cheap set offered. So, I added the Bergeon #6 and #8 winder arbors for those. Then I made up some brass washers with different inner diameters for when I need a left hand winder instead of right (or vice versa). So far this is working out.
@@The_Scienceboy You know how new mainsprings come in a metal washer? Basically, you are pressing the mainspring into the washer, then flipping the washer over and pressing the mainspring into the barrel. The other way to do this is to push the mainspring into a slightly larger mainspring winder and then pop it into the barrel.
Hello ! Nice to see your are satisfied. For my part I bought a Chinese set two years ago, the first one I received have some arbor circonference to short for mainspring I try to shorten the center mainspring for help and I broken it. Some arbor hook are different, some too thin some too wide !! Finally I made a complain to the supplier and he sent me a second set for free !! It’s was a little bit better but the problem was the same ! So most of time I do it by hand. Invest your money in a quality set, for sure it’s expensive but you will be satisfy each time you’ll use it !
GREAT TIP -several winders have the same Outer dimensions-So Loosen the Press-button with Pliers . now Arbers with their eject tabel are interchangeable , bigger, smaller, left ,right winding NOW you can wind a multiple quantety of barrels

@@boydsargeant7496 Looking at this vid, the pin that hooks the mainspring's hole, is set perpendicularly in the steel rod. That means that it will hold the spring for both directions. This is why the author of the vid has problems unhooking the spring. The unidirectional one have the pin bent or slanted in one direction which makes the un-hooking easier by just turning it in the opposite turning direction and the hole slides over the bent pin. Also with unidirectional winder you can obtain both winding direction by flipping the spring, meaning having the coils toward left or right according to your whishes.

Swiss watches wind clockwise and are counter-clockwise in the barrel while japanese watches wind often counter-clockwise with the winders and are clockwise in their barrel. Hopefully this explains it somewhat for you.
Can you please advise if the arbor shafts are interchangeable between bodies. Or are the bore diameters a close fit with the arbor for that winder. For example, if I wanted to use the 8200 barrel with a different sized arbor, could I do that?

How do the washers help get the other winding (left or right)?
