I'm Italian, I have a Czech collegue who is a mechanic engineer, he designs our pumps, impellers, etc. He showed me his books and notebooks, safe to say the Czech are masters and demigods when it comes to mechanical design and engineering
And I have to say that in every Italian is part of da Vinci 🙂
And I'm Czcech, I have to say Italian have briliant kitchen to feed our master brain and than work harder! Thanks!
I can tell you own neither a Jawa motorcycle or CZ model 83 handgun.
@@andrewallen9993 different strokes for different folks, it’s all relative to what you value.
Quel V12 è una melodia
I am from Slovakia every little kid had a plastic tatra usually with a rope attached to the front and a kid sitting in the dump bed all kids loved them. I still have mine, lot of good memories, good old times.
Tatras are immediately recognizable, like nothing else. An air-cooled V12 is something special as there are few land vehicles that have an engine like this.
Thank you for this video! As a Czech I love when people outside of our country get to learn about our great machines :D
České stroje a vozidla jsou velkolepý a spolehlivý. Zetor, Tatra, Škoda... Bohužel LIAZ už neexistuje...
I own four Jawa 350 motorcycles. None of them have travelled further than 30 000 kilometers. Only one still drives.
me too bro XD she also received the highest recognition in the movie mad max
I knew, I own 1600kg of TOS lathe from the 80’s (or late 70’s) :o) It is well built!
Thank you for your patriotism to your great country. Very capable designs by great creators. I used to be proud of my America but this aadministration makes it difficult.
As an american this tatra story was super cool, and different from what we know over here. I really enjoyed. Thank you
Not sure if you know, but ATC imported Tatras in America and many have been serving there for various applications, i.e. fire fighters

@@VisioRacer Yeah there was one or couple, not sure, in Jackson Alabama (not Mississippi) in fire department

But those had Cummins engines unfortunately, it kind of takes away from classic, but it's obviously convenient in US
I remember when I was a kid watching the Paris Dakar race and rooting for Tatra trucks! Those are fantastic machines, and they were doing great cars for a while... I wish someone would resurrect the brand!
edit: my comment may seem off topic, but it's just a way to say that hearing about Tatra always rejoices my heart!
Tatra is still around, they're still a major truck manufacturer, they just gave up on producing cars because under communism they weren't allowed to innovate to keep up with foreign car brands, so by the time they were actually allowed to do so their cars were decades out of date and it would've cost too much to develop an entirely new one. They did put in a good effort though, their last car was the T700 which made 300 hp from its air-cooled V8.
There is a sad story of hostile overtake attempt from USA, where the company nearly bankrupted. They even ruined relationship to the largest customer - Indian military. They were even banned to sell to china by puppet president, and Mercedes took the offer in 90s, it was a deal for about 2000 trucks when our economy was barely growing after the great fall. Now however the company is producing over 2000 trucks yearly (dropped to 800 at one time), and is known to be innovating and developing it´s capabilities.
10x10 chassis was produced, all wheel turns, crab walking and french military uses tatra chassis in new Cesar howitzers and Titus armored vehicle. Unlike old models, there are armored cabins up to stanag-4, engines are stronger and more configurations available to allow servicing them anywhere in world.
You may look up the latest howitzer produced on Tatra chassis - Morana.
they are still around they make chassis for heavy duty fire trucks used at most major airports
tatra phoenix... new version of tatra truck
@@Pyrochemik007 I love Tatra Force 😍
The sound of these engines are unique (thanks to air cooling) , brutal, and more associated to a beast coming right from hell than to an engine.
The offroad capabilities of these machines are impressive. Again, it's more like a animal crawling, perfectly adapting to the terrain, than a stiff human made iron vehicle.
I'd love to have one to go to the grocery. No need for GPS. Goes from point A to point B in a straight line without noticing if it runs on road, mud, dirt, a snowfield, a 45° slope, or even a river....
like in 4:55
Great video... My dad use to let me ride with him in 138s and 148s when he use to drive for bakery state company in CZ (mlyny a testarny) in HK, they would use him for trucks when drivers were sick, but his primary driving was in 603
How Visio racer only has half a million subs is a mystery to me, so much work on these really cool videos.
I know right. There's been so much I've learned from Visio that I don't get from anywhere else. This video was awesome.
Maybe his videos aren't as catchy as most million sub car channels. Great for us, who just want plain information rather than tons of bullcrap, but not that amusing for millions of people.
@@dy7296 Sounds about right.
bcs his english is annoying a lot
I have subscribed several times. Seems YT loses them.
I drove later T815 8x8 model in army, it was an rocketlauncher-truck.
That was most impressive thing i have ever driven, that 19-litre twin-turbo V12 sounded so good 😎
By far my most favourite off-road truck. Thanks so much for highlighting it on your channel. A person only has to watch some of the "truck trial" videos here on CZcams to see how superior that the T813 is, I've see them being driven on their sides (yes, really) in trenches and come out on all wheels in the end (due to the skill of the driver).
And the dry-sump engine oiling system.
And the air cooled engine
I'm not a commercial vehicle or a truck connoisseur......per se. Yet these vids somewhat intrigue and it's fun to explore these topics. These trucks certainly are marvels of engineering. Lovely content.
Thank you, glad you like it!
T813's nickname is "Kolos" (Colossus), and righteously so. It's always nice to see Czechoslovakian machinery explored on international CZcams channels!
Tatra je srdcovka, to treba robiť osvetu takému autu 💪🏼

Next do video about Praga V3S, those things are indestructible and very capable off-road. To this day people use them to haul wood from the woods
And flexible chassis
Tatra and Praga are most legendary Czechoslovak cars :)
These are some of my favorite trucks. NA V12 air cooled diesel… I mean what could be more interesting than that?! Let alone the sound! Thanks for going in depth on these Visio, I am always impressed how you somehow always find an interesting topic to teach us about.

Tatra has amazing history and the future is the same. Long live this beautiful trade mark.
The 813 has been one of my go to trucks in snowrunner, they absolutely nailed the engine sound in game
The 813 in Snowrunner is no joke. I was amazed at how it could handle the terrain in any of the maps.
The Tatra all wheel drive system is one of the coolest things I've ever seen; I'm happy that you've been able to get all the details you have. I had no idea of the auxiliary transmission, but it makes sense given how practical Czechs seem to be! This was a good video; thanks for putting it up!
czcams.com/video/u1CctCBTj48/video.html
Mechanism that swings Left&Right freely.
Simple but nice mechanism.
Very interesting stuff mate! from 04-08 when serving the Greek artillery i remember the distinctive noise of those v12s! once i had the opportunity to drive one rm-70 multi rocket launcher of our company!i still remember the 2 starters and the knob on the gear selector for high/low... can't wait for the next video man!
I think that we all would enjoy seeing more videos on interesting trucks from Europe. Perhaps one on Unimogs, Kamaz or ZIL trucks?
If I would ever buy myself a classic truck, this would be high on my wish list.
What a marvellous beast!
Tatra nezná bratra (Tatra doesnt know brother) it means tatra is best 😀
I was born in Poland in mid '70. My father served in Polish People's Army. When i was small boy i was many times in workshops near Ławica military airfield in Poznań with my dad. Tatras 813 works as tugs, fuel tanks, heavy trucks etc. I remember this extreme loud engine, smell of greases, fumes and how high for little boy was car cabin :)
I think the Romanian Army still uses a few for pulling their tanks (as most of our tanks are still T-55...). And I said a few since the rest of the trucks that pull tanks are Romanian Dac 887R trucks. They were developed in the mid to late '80 and used the first ever (and last) 100% Romanian truck engine, the 1240-V8-DT, a 12.4 liter V8 diesel engine with turbo (DT comes from "Diesel Turboaspirat"). They also were 8x8 and had a specific sound. A beautiful sound indeed! Back in the '80, our truck brand, "Întreprinderea de Autocamioane Brașov" (The Truck Enterprise Brașov) was competing with brands like Tatra, although being almost 60 years younger, but now it almost bankrupted and it barely produces a few trucks per year. They now have a contract with the army to modernise and repair almost all trucks they have (which were made by this company decades ago) but it's still far from ok. I still have hope since the colaboration with Man is still quite solid.
As an Austrian I have a big sympathy to the Czech and Slovakian ppl! And the development of the central tube framing (literally translaged) gave Tatra a huge advantage especially in the realm of offroad driving. We also know that Porsche (on behalf of the Nazis) actually has stolen Tatra's car concept which got very popular as the VW Bug. Sure, Tatra couldn't do anything about it back then, we all know why.
I'm pretty happy to see that Tatra is still in the business and its Tatra Phoenix is top notch in terms of offroad driving! :D
I agree with everything you said
@@VisioRacer ☺👍
One more thing that anyone should know that the highway ( autobahn) was actually a Czech idea 😉
@@gigifrana940 True that! :)
nice to see that some other than czechmate knows that! kudos to you sir and thank you!🙋🇨🇿
Thanks for the vid man! I was lucky enough to once take palce in the passanger seat of on in a "mudrace" in germany. They pulled jeeps and whatelse out of meter deep slush with that thing. Going trough the mud itslef like it was a small puddle. Those things truly are insane and they sound EPIC!
I live the 2 clips of those kids watching the truck trial in the woods as the two Tatras go by. You just know at least one of them is going to keep that memory and be inspired to go into the mechanical field some day :D
Very good. Thank you. These old military vehicles are amazing
I always liked these trucks, the Cheks, had some impressive engineers, and still do.
I love large off-road trucks and drove the American 6x6 versions .Being a major fan of the truck trials in Europe ,any thing that has slop coming in the windows and still climbs out of the hole that's 3 meters deep does digs with front steering and side hill crawls ,or back off the near vertical cliff . You guys build a Damn Good Truck ,, play hard you guys !!!!
Absolute maestros! Incredible engineering, I was impressed with the fuel mileage! Interestingly, the central design of the differentials reminded me when I saw the Truck from Mad Max: Fury Road on it's side - same central tube design! Thank you for sharing this!
Yes, that mad max truck was actually build on tatra chasiss
I geeked out in theatre when I saw that as I knew it was a Tatra 815 base.
Ohh love these old beasts! In the 80´s they ruled the Euro Truck Trial circus on Eurosport, it was a joy to see them in action.
I like the animations in the end about the truck configurations! Very nice
This truck is a ton of fun in Snowrunner.
Love Tatra trucks. The tube chassis design is so cool and unique from all others.
Tatra trucks have always inspired and attracted me from the time I heard about them.
I’ve always really liked these trucks, they’re like a loyal dog they always want to go with you
That differential design is NUTS! We don't have anything like that in America, our go to for big trucks is double wishbone independent control arms with halfshafts exiting the sides of the diff mounted to a yoke.
Visio back at it again, teaching me things I didn't even know I wanted to know.
As a Czech, I really appreciate that you did your homework and pronounced everything right.. Other content creators don’t do it at all. Good job!
Most likely because as a Slovak, I can get the accent and pronunciation perfect ✌🏻
@@VisioRacer Well thats awesome but a bit dissapointing. I really thought that some foreign content creator put in some effort.
Každopádně pokračuj. Skvělý videa s vysokou hodnotou✊
@@Brawell_ Sorry, že som ti to rozbúral 😅 Vďaka
Having owned an 813 and competed in Eurosport Truck Trail.. Its extremely capable.. Only two errors of the design. No1 Non portal axles and No2 Cassette cooling system to direct air correctly within the V between the cylinders..
We have to remember its designed in 1966/68 starts production 1969. So no turbo or air suspension was possible then. Simply the best truck in the world and that sound is wicked..
This looks like a vehicle that might be useful on the ranch especially the one with the forward attachments!!! 🤠👍
Very nice! People shoud know about what Tatra bring to world
Amazing truck! It goes and sounds marvelous! My fav next to MAZ 537.
My fav truck in snowrunner! It's powerful, reliable and badass! Always love the Eastern Bloc style monsters!
Tatra sounds great and I believe that it would be a great and capable machine to use on any terrain.
It's a great truck!! Btw.I have the upgraded successor a Tatra 815 8x8 VVN V12 for sale. I bought it in 2022 in the Czech Republic from a businessman that had it renovated to close to new look to be part of a military museum. He had to sell to survive economically through the Covid time. I have prepared it to be chassis for an around the world over landing trip that will never happen as we will buy a horse truck instead and bring our two horses. The Tatra comes with it's original 16 square meter transport basket. It has new tires and another new set of spares. If you want pictures of it let me now.
I was a truck driver 40 years ago
Fantastic video.
Yes please do more on these eastern vehicles that are uncommon in the west, they are very interesting.
That's a pretty amazing truck even now.
That's super cool. I had no idea about this truck before now. With a newer engine it could be the perfect truck, even better than the MAN KAT 8x8
What an incredible story . incredible. Vehicle I don't think there's room on my drive for a 8 by 8 tetra? 👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
I used to drive these in the army ,they make some awesome rigs !
Another great video. Yes. More videos on interesting trucks. Especially from Eastern Europe.
as a slovak all i can say its that even nowadays u can see 813s and 815s (815 is more popular for civilian purposes)and i loved them since i was a kid 813 is in my olinion the best offroad truck of all time (praga V3S close second) you can hardly get them stuck.also im happy that TATRA is sitl around as a manufacturer since in slovakia we sold and devastated all ours heavy industry
I have always loved Tatra trucks! Would love to see more truck videos!!
It was the base of Finnish MSLR down in 90's. What a wonderful vehicle. We old guys loved it 😆
Thanks for this awesome video about Tatra trucks.
Watching you from France and it's still big pleasure !!!
Take care
Thank you!
France actually uses Tatra chassis for the new Caesar howitzers and Titus armored wehicles.

The Tatra 813 is one of my favourite trucks in Snowrunner.
I'm a simple man. I see a vehicle with a V12 in the thumbnail, I click on it.
I think some of the footage you show here, where large steel tanks are being towed, picture the transport of the reactor pressure vessels for nuclear powerplants. The common VVER type reactor pressure vessels were manufactured by Skoda, so that's why I think that, but I could be wrong, the shape of the tanks is slightly different.
My favorite truck in mudrunner.
one of the mightiest truck ever built.
Excellent presentation Sir I enjoyed it very much Thank you!
I once remember seeing a convoy of these trucks going by.
Pictures and videos don't do it justice! You really have to see it in person.
I wanted one of these so badly. I wanted to build an RV out of it, but have it look like a canvas back. They used to be fairly inexpensive, but like pretty much everything the price is through the roof
I enjoyed reading about the great Tatra company's outstanding military and civilian heavy truck designs. The finely engineered and somewhat unconventional road cars Tatra was famous for, with their rear mounted air-cooled V-8 engines were also something I enjoyed learning about, and wondering if they might have inspired Preston Tucker to build the ill-fated Tucker Torpedo automobiles at the end of the 1940's. Thanks for your well-produced and informative videos, 'VR'!
They annually had one on the meeting at Vienna‘s HGM! I love the huge glass house, the cabin is sunnier than my apartment!
Definitely more videos like that 👌im into speed but appreciate amazing off road vehicles too. When it was going over the cobble stone humps and stayed flat😮 that was impressive. I want one lol 😂. Great video m8. Cheers from 🏴
