she struggles alot with stage fright so this was really impressive, she's starts off a little shaky but she really comes into it by the end, so beautiful.
My boyfriend and I loved lana so much, he unfortunately passed away last January 13. I'm still so in love with him and it'll stay that way forever, we never got to see lana live together. This performance is a tearjerker.
The best Lana performances to watch are just like this one. Not hearing the crowd, and the instrumentals aren't drowning her out like so many of her concerts. She does so well in quieter settings, whether they are more professional setups, or just involving a smaller crowd. We need more like this. The goddess herself.
@@MrAsyo1 Maybe the piano brings out the sadness in the lyrics which you prefer but imo the production in the recorderd version matches the song way better. The vintage instrumentation and the storylike nature of the song make it sound like its a passage through time, and it mirrors the lyrics when the instrumentals 'disappear' in the chorus, and when it builds up to the climax, it emphasises the lyrics about the hope for a fulfilled future where Lana can be content with her place in the world (which will never disappear). Idk I think at this rate its too easy for her to just put put out a ballad because everyone will eat that up regardless of the quality, so I appreciate the decision to make the song upbeat.

@@MrAsyo1 No one apologised in the first place so who are you/the Redditor you copied this from to 'forgive' Lana 💀 and the sleigh bells are used in a lot of old school music which as you know Lana takes inspiration from, for example the Beach Boys 'God Only Knows' uses it as percussion too (and she even references them in The Greatest...). The rest of the critique you mentioned, like nitpicking on using 'they' instead of 'to' in the second chorus, just sounds pedantic. No one has a problem with you for preferring the acoustic version but when you disrespect someone else's opinion by telling them "no this version is superior", then that's where some people would take issue.
This versiones makes me imagine a couple who haven't seen each other for a long time, buy now they are having dinner in a fancy restaurant and one of them is sad, so the other one offers his shoulder to cry. Studio version makes me imagine someone very sad too, who is walking near a bar, where bumps into an old friend, but in the city. Like finding peace and help despite all the chaos of the cars and drinks and lights and mess
Skeet Skeet go listen this live not this video. The video is edited. She sounds awful. The real live version that was broadcasted is phenomenal. The same thing with best American record. The leak demo is amazing. The one on CZcams has been edited.
@@lanadelrey3821 It's not even this video that makes me like the studio version more. I'm just tired of the depressing ballads. DON'T get me wrong lol, I know that's like Lana's thing is the slow sadder songs, but I like the more upbeat feeling of the studio version. It just has more oomph to it for me.

@@roro9475 i've been listening her soo long and this is the first time i complain lol. And non of these songs are bad actually they're beautifully written but that christmas thing doesn't suits with the lyrics.
ro ro i never said it was a bad song it’s great. this version is just better is all. it didn’t need to be over produced like the studio version is 🤷🏻♀️
There was already plenty piano ballads, we didn’t need another. The production is pretty unique and i enjoy how the lyrics provide an unexpected contrast to it.
[Verse 1] John met me down at the boulevard I cried on his shoulder 'cause life is hard The waves came in over my head What you been up to my baby? ro ro not just you! I love both versions. For me, the instrumental solo in the studio version halfway through the song really adds to the tone of the song and that’s not here in this version to the same effect, at least in my opinion. So I think both versions have awesome aspects. In either version, it’s a phenomenal song!!
I really love both versions, but I think that this is more heartbreaking and pure, I would love that se kept the “this is how they disappeared” line in the album version, it is more painfully beautiful

this song has a power to it that goes beyond the lyrics, the arrangement, or even lana herself. I find it moving in an unexplainable way, but I’ve felt it and now it’s time not to ask and to choose carefully when to listen to it.
First time to hear this version. I think this is the best track off the album and I am sooo surprised it's the last song they recorded for NFR ❤️ Unbelievably genius.
She’s so scared of singing in public because she thinks that she’s not good enough but she is the most amazing singer I’ve ever heard
She’s not scared it’s her attitude 😏
Did she say it somewhere that she is scared?

Agreed. I dont understand why everyone's making a fuss about the studio version.
I like it except the weird loud Christmas bells that suddenly come on
