Dude could have came back, probably didn't even need the back surgery just did it to help strengthen his claim for his Sixers money he lost out on. This isnt John Wall falling down the steps. Simmons just all of a sudden had a back issue and depression when Philly starting fining him and withholding pay. If I was his teammate I'd never truly think I could count on him. I think that way about Kyrie in some ways too but at least he's a really good player. His issue is he does things on a whim which is terrible for competitive basketball. Ben just only in it for the money and lifestyle that comes with that. Sad to see cuz he's getting rewarded for terrible behavior.

If you can still play on offense, you can still play on defense. Its not like one skillset or physicality and athleticism just magically declines on one side of the court.
@@fenixchief7 ok so a couple differences MJ was super strong and at that time you could still hand check Tim primarily defended the paint which obviously didn’t require the lateral movement and he was no longer the primary player on offense Bowen too wasn’t asked to be a primary scorer so all of his energy could be expended on defense also those guys were elite defenders in their prime so the drop off from age wouldn’t be as steep as KD who was a solid defender but the main point remains in this day and age where the game is faster than ever and you can’t touch anybody I think it’s asking a lot to ask a guy this deep in his career to score 25-30 and still have the energy to be a good defensive player
Glad they mentioned Ja's insane jumping and athleticism, how dangerous it is for his knees when he lands over and over. I remember Derrick Rose was the most spectacular acrobatic jumper I'd ever seen and he tragically got injured from those same type of crazy leaps where he landed and his knees gave out. I'm very worried because Morant is one of the most exciting players I've ever seen and it would be tragic if he derailed his career.
It's a lot more about the amount of force exuded when jumping than it is landing.

I've always said this before sixers traded Simmons and that was Simmons being overrated! People kept saying "he's LeBron with a jumpshot" but the problem is, getting a jumpshot is not an off-season fix. Coming into the league and not being able to shoot is a serious problem and not in a good way.
Iverson DID have hops. Drove to the basket for highlight dunks the first few years, then quickly realized it’s a long way back down at 6 feet, 155lbs, played smarter after that.
