Most reactors I watch watched it in Korean
i would say although episode 2 is the "slowest" episode, it is the most NECESSARY episode because it really hammers down the shows core concept of choice
plus it does what every other BR show/movie has never really done up to this point
I think the 5th ep is the slowest one. Since there is nothing much happen and no game. Ep.2 still give us some more backstory of each characters and the reason why they choose to comeback.

The lead actor, Lee Jung Jae, has been in a tonne of great films over the years. But his previous role to this was as an unstoppable contract killer in last year's (fucking excellent film) Deliver Us From Evil. Highly recommended.
Also, keep in mind 1000 won is (very roughly) $1US/AU depending on the market, so 4,000,000 won is about $4000 to us.

Whoa. It just occurred to me that The Hunger Games and Battle Royale aren't just based off of The Lord of the Flies. It's also based off of The Long Walk, too. It's an insane, sad, horrible story. I feel like there's a Twilight Zone about this as well but I can't think of it right now. Haha
The 1st episode is not slow. People will not be hooked to this show if its slow. It pays a lot of attention to character development. The pace is perfect. By the way, the Korean word they translated as "eliminated" simply means "out" in Korean. That is why everyone signed the game contract. Nobody expected the worst. By the way, they were not kidnapped. They voluntered to join the game. Even when they were at the game venue, they were asked again if they want to leave. They chose to stay and play. This is what makes this SO DIFFERENT from other killing series which focused on people being forced to kill each other in order to survive. In SG, the focus is not on the games per se but on choices and the characters' motivations' for playing. Everyone has a different reason. More on Ep2. Thank you for the great reaction :)

Excited you guys are reacting to this and watching the Korean language one. Just one thing though, you have the English CC on instead of the English subtitiles. They can be quite different as the English CC is the Closed Captions for the dub, not the original Korean version. having said that, the English subs do lose a lot in translation as well but not as bad as the English CC.

I'm no stranger to death games and Battle Royale-type of stories but this one is refreshingly interesting. There's something so creepy about turning child's play into deadly games, they evoke the sweet memories of my childhood just to twist it completely and it messes with me.

I am impressed that you watched Squid Game in South Korean. I wouldn’t survive this or any other apocalyptic game. I am not a cunning strategist. I am too simple. I trust people too much. The production quality of the game sets are really good. South Korean dramas are always interesting.

i dont know why some people like alice in borderland. i watched it because people kept talking about it and it was so bad. The actors were bad, it was unrealistic and the games were lame. Nothing compared to squid game.

Don't get too excited by the value of $$$ in this show. $1 US is around 1200 Korean Won {SK Dollars}. So the 100,000 he got from getting slapped around was worth $82 US and the 4.5 million he won on the horses and lost to the pickpocket was $3800 US. The big prize for the Squid Game however is 45.6 billion which is 38 million US.

But better 😭 ! Apparently the director started writing this in 2008, and in 2009 he handed it over to studios but they all rejected it.
There’s a Japanese movie based on a manga called, “As The God’s Will” which also has some similarities. However it cannot relate to Squid Game. The characters from Squid game are more relatable to every-day people, and they had a choice to play or to stop the game. They were also given the option to not come back, but a lot did just to get out of their debt regardless if they’re putting their life on the line !
