The scars on Seal's face are from a disease called Discoid Lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disorder and for lack of a better description, the body attacks itself. Women get the disease more often than men, but when men get it, they get it worse than women do. His scars are pretty much where the "Butterfly Rash" would be and he probably got the scares during a bad flare. But this is from the perspective of a person with Lupus.

Fun fact, not sure if anyone else pointed this out: Seal wrote and demo'd this in the late 80s before he was ever signed, and it was a pretty basic acoustic ballad that he was kind of embarrassed of and never showed anyone. Whilst recording with Trevor Horn (founder of the Buggles of Video Killed the Radio Star fame and producer of a bunch of artists to this day), Horn coaxed Seal into letting him hear it, and then came up with the arrangement you hear on the final track with the strings and oboe and stuff. It got released as single to middling success, but then got a huge bump off the back of Joel Schumacher using it on the Batman Forever OST.

Seal was famous YEARS before Heidi Klum became a famous model (she was SI's cover model in 1998)... Seal's first record came out in 1991 and 'Crazy' was his earliest hit single. Seal performed at Queen's tribute concert to Freddie Mercury in 1992... Seal's music is a mix of pop, R&B and light rock. He's from Nigerian descent, but British born.
'Kiss from a rose' was on his 1994 album, but was released as a single for the movie 'Batman Forever' in 1995 and became one of his biggest hits... along w/ "Don't cry" ... 'Prayer for the dying'... Seal's 1994 album was a global hit, selling 4 million copies (4X platinum) in the US.
Another hit was 'Waiting for you' that came after 2000.

During the pandemic, they did a series of covers from their living room (no special effects). Seal himself saw the video and called them to say how much he loved and was impressed by their rendition.

From Wikipedia: Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel was born on 19 February 1963 at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London,[3][11] to a Nigerian mother, Adebisi Ogundeji, and an Afro-Brazilian father, Francis Samuel.[12][13][14] He was raised by a foster family in Westminster, London. He received a two-year diploma in architecture and had various jobs in the London area.
The prominent scarring on Seal's face is the result of a type of lupus called discoid lupus erythematosus, which affects the skin and leaves large scars.

One of the most beautiful songs of the late 20'th century. I think you're struggling with it because it's in 3/4 (waltz time signature). It was considered a soulful pop song when released and has a unique medieval orchestration/style. Seal was born in England. He is famous because his music is awesome. This is from his second album Seal from 1994. He originally wrote it in 1987 and hated it. He eventually presented it to producer Trevor Horn (formerly of the bands Yes and The Buggles "Video Killed the Radio Star") who ran with it and created this version which became Seal's biggest hit. Though there are a tn of musicianson the album, two of the main four are Wendy and Lisa, formery of Prince and the Revolution. They also had a band called Wendy and Lisa with several albums including the fantastic Eroica. The guitar you hear in ths song is Wendy.
