    I purchased a 12'X24' Arrow Murryhill shed and will be setting it up
    on a concrete slab in Tucson Arizona. Nice to see it can be done with 2 people. We will install an anchor kit due to the microburst winds we experience here on occasions. Super great video, it's going to help a lot. Keep up the good work!!

    • @EricAndSelah
      @EricAndSelah  Před rokem +1

      ours held up against 40ish mph winds we got in Pensacola from Hurricane Ian with just the wood screws, so with concrete anchors you should be ESPECIALLY prepared for any winds you get there😊
      2 people wasn’t always comfortable, but it’s certainly do-able. if you have any extra questions feel free to reach out and i can review our instruction packet to try and clarify further! best of luck!

      yes i was taking turns picking them back up off screen because they kept blowing over! we ran screws through the bottom of the frame into the wood to fix the issue temporarily but since you cant super easily do that… maybe you could find something to lean up against the inner corner?

    • @EricAndSelah
      @EricAndSelah  Před 2 dny

      if i remember correctly, yes! it should all be dependent on how you set the floor frame and wall panels up. it’s been a couple years now and i don’t know if models have changed at all though, so i would suggest figuring out what size and model number you’re looking into and there should be an online instruction manual.
      i just searched and got this result…
      www.shedsforlessdirect.com/manuals/arrow-12x24-murryhill-garage-BGR1224FG-manual.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOooQYfJhaJ80PxZwDZPEEPEnzgWWn3otiMn1pnyHcVe-aKi_65hu
      if this happens to include your model number it begins to show you the process on pages 18 and 19 for the lower door track:) and it states it can be on either side. best of luck!!

    Perfect, but the only thing is that washers should be used so scratching doesn't happen. Preferably rubber to keep leaking to a minimum. Also, limits rusting two reasons rain acid and metals are different metals screws going into building. Using two type metals cause problems in weather changes in long term and weaker metal will fail and in this situation the building metal fails first.

    I purchased a 12 x 31 Arrow Shed and it fell down due to the high winds where I live. I had to rebuild it in wood BUT I am using the garage door and other parts. I need a detailed idea of how to make the garage work. My just always get stuck and then the rollers come off, no matter how many times I adjust it. Any Advise? BTW, this video is much better than the Arrow shed build by the company. They always seem to skip the parts where most people have problems! Great Job!

    • @EricAndSelah
      @EricAndSelah  Před rokem

      awe im sorry to hear that!! we just recently moved and have a new garage with an actual shingle roof on it and we’re kinda in the same boat cause a tree fell on it… we want to reuse the windows but everything else is a lost cause lol.
      given all this, i dont have the Arrow shed near by to reference anymore but we had a similar experience with the garage door… it would get stuck if you didnt open it with even pressure on each side, then sometimes we’d have to press on the top panel or 2 cause they didnt want to fold and roll back like they’re supposed to.
      if i remember correctly, the tracks for the door weren’t really braced in place by much so that left a bit of room for them to shift out of place… so if you havent done it already then maybe framing wood behind the tracks and sending screws through them into the wood on each side may be your best bet to hold them in place and keep them from shifting too much. i would re-adjust it the way you want and watch what it’s doing from inside the garage, but of course make sure you have another way to exist in the meantime if you get stuck🫣😂 wood framing might look terrible depending on how it’s done, but functionality is more important than aesthetic in my opinion.
      even just using a couple L-brackets from the bottom of the tracks to the floor may assist in keeping them in place maybe.
      sorry if these are useless ideas but that’s all i really have coming to mind at the moment
      best of luck and if you need someone to bounce other ideas off of, of course i’d be glad to help further. our email is ericandselah@gmail.com if you wanted to send some photos or something to give me a little more to go off of in case you continue having back luck.
      thank you though!! i’m very surprised this video has done as well as it has cause video editing certainly isn’t my forté, but if it helped one person then that makes it all worth it:)

    Soooo... I have an odd question maybe. My dad built this same shed years ago. He passed away last November. My mom is still with us, but is 80, and we are trying to get her into assisted or senior living, because she can't live completely on her own anymore. We are planning to sell the property to the neighbors next door. They do not care about this shed, because he is a builder, and has a HUGE workshop... what they need is a yard... lol. Anyway... I have been considering taking on the task of disassembling this shed and rebuilding it at my house. I can't really afford a shed, but have wanted one like this... plus... it would be neat having my Dad's tool shed, as it was certainly part of him. I know disassembling a shed like this would be a LOT of work, plus moving and rebuilding it again. Would certainly be easier to buy a new one, and have it shipped, but I don't really have the money for new... so thinking in this case, work instead of cost... lol.
    So what's my point? Having built one, any recommendations on how you would disassemble if you planned to move it? What parts you would leave intact? What you would take apart first? I was thinking I would leave the ceiling supports intact, for example, doesn't seem like there would be a reason to take them apart.

    • @EricAndSelah
      @EricAndSelah  Před rokem

      i’m sorry for your loss.
      we moved and did not take the shed with us because… like you said… it would be a lot of work lol. but i think it could be done. what i would do is number the pieces as you remove them, “1-100” for example. then reverse engineer it 100-1. or you could even find the instruction manual online for the shed and use the actual part numbers. or using both together as your labeling system might actually be best so you have both to assist you in re-assembly. while you’re disassembling it, you’ll learn what you need to take apart and what you can just take bigger sections out of but i think the roof gables are mainly going to be all you can really do that with… and the side door and smaller things like that. i would recommend fully disassembling the wall panels as they’re so thin. i would always recommend taking the extra time to separate pieces rather than putting the extra strain on yourself to move heavier sections. plus it’ll decrease the number of trips you’ll have to take to move it all.
      i think it’s definitely do-able, but it’s not going to be fun. and since yours is slightly older, maybe videoing yourself disassembling it could help you with your reassembly just in case there are any discrepancies with how various parts were put together.
      best of luck!!! let us know when you get it figured out… or if you have any issues we can maybe help you with:)

    • @EricAndSelah
      @EricAndSelah  Před rokem

      also, i don’t remember much about the assembly at this point but i think starting with the garage door/ track system/etc., then the roof panels, then the roof supports may be your best 3 first steps to take in disassembly as i’m fairly certain those came last. the instruction manual and actually looking inside your own shed may help you better determine a game plan though. regardless of how you tackle it, be careful!

    I’m torn between buying one of these and modifying it to be a workshop or just moving my existing shed and building a slab for it. After a year, how has the building been? I know Florida weather can put some structures through their paces

    • @EricAndSelah
      @EricAndSelah  Před 7 měsíci

      we no longer live at the property we installed the shed but eric’s dad still does… as far as we’ve heard, all is still good with it! we had some pretty intense tropical storms while we were still there and it held up well.
      at our new property we essentially have the same thing, a pole barn type structure but on a slab this time with taller doors so we’re able to actually pull our vehicles in and out, but the indiana weather right now along with that concrete almost has it feeling colder inside than outside so i’m pretty miserable working on much of anything at the moment. or that may just be my Floridian habits talking.
      as you know, there’s just so many factors to consider… but we’re sure you’ll be happy regardless of which approach you take! there are pros and cons to just about any option out there. the only thing we really struggled with was space, but that’s just how eric is haha… he sees empty spaces as an excuse to buy more tools😂 best of luck to you and if we are able to help you out any more just let us know!

    Did you seal under the floor frame

    • @EricAndSelah
      @EricAndSelah  Před 7 měsíci

      The floor isn’t the strongest, I believe that was addressed in the video. It was not intended to be driven on. It was a budget storage solution that got us by until we moved, though it is still fully functional for the new owners. We did not seal the floor frame because we were not concerned with the longevity of the building or the “foundation” and the yard was pretty much just sand being in Florida, so the only standing water we really had was what remained on the flooring itself. Thank you.

    Question: for a shed this size, did you have to get a building permit from your county?

    • @EricAndSelah
      @EricAndSelah  Před 5 měsíci +1

      no we did not due to the square footage being less than our county, at the time, required for permitting. however, we did put it closer to the property line than was technically allowed… so i mean, if a neighbor complained or something, i guess we may have been forced to relocate it but our neighbors didn’t mind :) our county was pretty relaxed though so definitely review what your county requires!!
