- Purchased this because the focus motor noise is pretty loud using my Nikon D5100's built in mic, I just wanted something that would reduce the amount of lens noise recorded. Does exactly what I wanted and they sell for around $35 on eBay or $27 on Amazon
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007...
In quiet settings it has a very noticeable hiss, so I use the built in mic and set focus to manual. Anywhere with background noise I dont hear the hiss.
I'd love a Rode Stereo Video Mic, but I really don't need that kind of quality. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Is it me or does the built-in mic sound better?
I've been looking for a test like this, just wanted to get rid of "camera operating sounds" with an external mic, so I must say, thank you for this!
talk to that microphone, play music, omg ...
Amazing video and demonstration! Helps soooooo much!
this quality and performance is good enough for me just for daily recording use. I will go for it. Thanks so much for the review. it really helpful
after gunshot mic being installed is the recording sounds from the gun shot or the actual camera so can you tell it works??? please
Thanks for putting together this great review vid!
that's a great difference in focus noise (although I prefer to shoot in manual with a set focus). also, the water sounds more like water and not like white noise.. thanks!
@Dragonreviews360 It will, the 550D has a 3.5mm external mic jack so will plug in the same as on the Nikon.
Very useful review. Thank you!
Not sure if if that one would fit, but it would not get rid of the hissing as that's internal hum from the electronics.
Sounds good, need to buy one
I've been happy with it, especially for the price.
Is this microphone and his voice is clear and excellent?
Is that a 1/4 inch thread mount in the bottom of the Hot Shoe Adapter? I'm thinking about getting one of these for my Cannon VIXIA HF R500 Camcorder and want to attach it right to the bottom of the camera's tripod mount
You'd have use something like a Zoom H1 or H4 which save the audio in their own memory and then sync the audio later. Premiere/Final Cut etc have auto sync, but its easy enough to do it manually in other video editing packages by lining up the audio waves and then deleting the on-board camera audio.
I have a Zoom H1 and love it - and as a bonus your boom pole (the h1 has a regular 1/4"20 camera mount on base) is in effect "wireless" as you don't have to run an audio cable back to the camera.
You can get rid of the hissing with an external audio mic that has the option to turn off "auto gain control" (or with a custom firmware such as Magic Lantern). AGC basically changes the sensitivity of the mic input based on the audio signal received. It's really inconvenient and causes that hissing (makes the mic ultra sensitive). Turn that off, and the hissing goes away.
The hot shoe mount is probably different, but if there's an adapter available and your camcorder has a mic input jack it would work.
yes, you're right. I never saw it before, When I took a look after watching your video, I saw the mic jack input. :-)
In every day use it isn't a problem so I haven't bothered to look into it. It's only an issue/noticeable if there isnt any background noise, otherwise is gets drowned out.
No, it is not. It is written on the manual (that no one ever reads, right?). It blinks when you turn it on but does not stay on after that. If it stays on it means that the battery is low and needs to be changed soon.
I want to ask... when i play my recorded video i just hear left side sound on my speaker and on my right speaker i just hear hiss. tq
@michael1980123 Sorry about the delay in responding. I checked, tried it on every setting and it was still there.
Your camera manual says it has a Mic input, and it looks like it has a standard hot shoe so I would guess yes.
hi,, can you please tell me that which mic should I use with Nikon d3300??
What size foam windshield fits the this mic for replacement?
Boa Noite amigo, Ele pode ficar ligado que não descarrega? Exemplo: Só descarrega quando plugado na Filmadora..
Thank you for review .....
Some camera's produce more noise than others - button presses, manual and auto focus and changing the focal length of lens (zooming in).
I was trying to show that with the boom mic the noise picked up is lessened.
Is it a matter of cameras, or why is it we listen to the manual focusing as well as the zoom in/out? 3:15
This is totally an ASMR video...but also very helpful :)
You could probably use a 3.5mm extension cable without any noticeable loss. If you need a lot longer then I'd suggest just getting something that records to on board memory - like a Zoom H1.
I believe the light just comes on briefly to let you know the battery has a charge and then turns off to not waste battery life.
It's a CR2. This one isnt rechargeable (and there isnt a recharge port on the mic), but they do sell rechargeable ones online.
so so good man thank you!
If a camera has an internal auto focus motor will external mics still pick up the sound when it focuses?
I want to buy one what battery does it use
@n1bpd erm... Dunno I only use it for photos but got a d700 now so I'm using d3100 for filming, I don't know if it has a mic input
@n1bpd okay thank you so much, ill have a look at the zoom h1. Thanks for your help
Does it work with the Canon Rebel t3i?
TWO QUESTIONS
1. Can anyone point me to a boom pole that would fit on this mic?
2. Extension cables, this is a TRS mic (meaning it has TWO black stripes on the jack). I've been reading about smartphones, and they require a TRRS jack (THREE black strips on the jack). However, when I used this mic on my S4, it recorded the audio great! Anyone know what the difference is between TRS and TRRS and if one really needs TRRS for smartphones?
Thank you!
could you use a lavlier mic?
How long does this battery last for continuous work?
Does the D3100 have an external mic input?
Thank you for this
Does it work for 1300d canon . Shall I buy or not??
Please help me I bought mic 01 Stero microphone but I can't connect it with phone
Thank you.
Hey when you turn on the mic, is the red LED supposed to stay on?
I wouldn't have thought that your Nikon should be making those noises as it makes it impossible to get good sound on your videos.
While the Shenggu helped reduce those noises, the actual audio quality increase did not appear huge.
Thanks for the work in making your video.
does it work on nikon d3200
@Blizzardnz I'm lucky enough to have a face for radio and a voice for newspaper.
It was a good buy? would you recommend buying?
What are your settings in taking video on your D5100? BTW, I like your Chicken coop.
I just set it to Auto. Thanks, but not my coop - it's a small farm down the street from me.
i think sg 108 is better used in a bit louder environment in a quiet environment, the hiss is pretty annoying, but i hear the fiio amplifier can reduce the hiss
is it just me or does the built in mic sound better?
wow so getting one
It needs an internal battery to work? is it stereo right?
Your seriously recommending a 7D or 5D Mark ll to people (myself included) who are checking out CZcams videos for a $20 boom mic??
The Autofocus was an example.... Only time I've ever use it for video is here, and maybe by mistake.
for that little battery, where can i find another one like if mine doesn't work any more?
I checked manual on the Nikon website and it doesnt seem to have one - so no, you would not be able to use this.
If you need better audio but dont want to get a different camera you could always get an external recorder such as a Zoom H1 which records to its own memory and then you sync the audio later (Adobe premiere can automatically sync the camera audio with an external source and then just delete the camera audio track).
does it work with a Nikon Coolpix L340
Nikon d3400 pe .connect kr sakte. Hai kiya
Is there a light ON while capturing the video on sg108 or its just like one blink when you ON in it? I got mine when i turn on is just like one blink! Is that normal?
Yeah, mine just flashes when I first turn it on. Someone else said theirs does that also, so sounds like its normal.
how does it stand up to the wind ?
It's a little bit better than the built in mic, but would still need a furry windscreen as foam isn't that good against wind.
Hi! Does it work for canon legria hf g20/25 too? Thanks.
Does it work with a voice recorder?
It's better than the Rode mic?
I just bought a Shengu SG-108 and my camcorder stabilizer and I will too have to get an extension to get it works.. hope it's gonna be fine! :P
'hey i commented before and i reviced the item but when i shoot video and when i hear the play back, its all fuzz and hiss and not sound from the people talking, now i fooled around with some of the diffeent manual settings and put it on auto and still didnt help. so can i get some help? lol?
It should at the very least reduce it by quite a lot if attached to the hot shoe, if you have a way to mount the mic a little bit away from the camera or isolate it by using an arm then the auto focus noise will be reduced even further and likely not noticable.
Geht das auch mit der Nikon d3100 ?
It should, left side infront of the HDMI plug under a plastic cover - it's marked "MIC".
so is there any way to get rid of the hiss?
I need one on this quality, but with a longer cable....
Where do you get replacement batteries
Is this the Nikon D5100 DSLR or SLR as have seen two different types of camera and confuses me :/ Would a 3.5mm jack work with SLR Nikon D5100
It's the D5100 - It's a DSLR, they don't make a non digital version of it so some may refer to it as an SLR, as the D may be assumed. - but its the same camera.
Oh okay thanks, so its 3.5mm jack then?
Yes it has a 3.5mm jack, sorry - forgot to answer that in your original question.
Its okay and thanks very much i was confused as on some websites it said DSLR then on other Digital LSR
If the D3100 has a mic port it will, otherwise no. You'll have to check your camera.
does work with nikon d3100?
I experienced hissing from my eBay Chinese mic...might be the cheap cabling they used, OR you may need a Stereo/Mono adapter , lets say from Radioshack, that got rid of practically all my hissing
Why bother using a microphone if you're not doing commentary in your video? Just cut the audio track out and put music or something.
can you use this for sony camcorders????
Most important thing for you isn't necessarily the most important thing for me or others.
If you interested in voices you may want to check out videos on Lavalier mics.
Does anyone know if i can record to my ipod nano 5th gen using this mic?
Will this work on the d3100?
I believe so, but cannot check as I lost mine....
What camera is that
does it connect to pc?
do you get much noice from mic
Are u removing the mic?
How much this microphone here in Brazil?
Ricardo
Yes, it requires a battery and is Stereo.
We're do u buy them
It will be, because it has a hot shoe mount and a 3.5mm socket. Sorry if this wasn't helpful, as your comment was from 2 months ago, you probably already have an answer...
thanks
❤️👍
Все равно , очень отчетливо слышны шумы фокусировки , как можно от них избавится ? С каким микрофоном ...
its good?
How many boom mic?
nikon D3100 ke liye k sa mic h
