    Just bought this particular router from Target on sale for 65 bucks and its probably the best router I've ever owned. I live in a 2 bedroom single story apartment and I get great speeds and connectivity all over. I love TP link the tether app is really easy to use and setup is really simple. You cannot beat this unit for the money.

      A router is basically your Antenna to spread the wireless signal throughout your house. So yes, you still need to have an internet connection going to your house from an internet service provider, and then you connect the router to your modem. The internet connection goes through the modem and to the router. 👍💪

    Hi LAMAR MK. I have been fascinated with the AX50 for a while and wanting to get it, but the economy is a little tight right now, so it will have to wait a bit, but right now I have a Linksys WRT-1900AC, which is 6 years old and I am farely happy with it, but I live in a 4 story house and we live on the second floor and the Linksys has a hard time reaching out on the porch on the 4th floor, do you think the range of the AX50 would be significantly better in reaching this area? Another question. Were all your measurements with legacy wifi 5 clients and none with wifi 6 clients? I myself have just bought a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, which has wifi 6 and I would like to take advantage of this, since I have heard that wifi 6 has better range, than wifi 5, is this true?

      In my demonstration it had to go through several walls, so you should still be able to pick up the signal as long as you point the antennas in those direction.
      Yes the devices I used to test are WiFi 5 and I was able to get those amazing performance. So I can only imagine how much better it will be on WiFi 6 devices.

    Funny because I have the same router w/ Xfinity gig service with an Arris S33 2.5 gig modem and I get 200 Mbps on the 5 ghz channel on my iPhone 12 standing right next to it. Also (have a 1700 sq foot home); my router is in my kids room & only the bathroom separates the kids room from my room and from my room I get a weak signal on my Chromebook & iPhone. I had to buy a TP-Link RE650 extender to put in my bedroom so that I get full signal strength (it's about approx 20 feet from the router to where I sit in my room through 2 walls with the bathroom in the middle and the signal is weak). In the backyard there is pretty much no signal. The only way I have a signal in the backyard is from the extender in my room (both router & extender are on the second floor).
    Ethernet into LAN ports I pull around 200 Mbps. I'd say about 4-5 times since February 2022 I've pulled 600 Mbps through the LAN ports. But 99.9% of the time it's around 200-240 Mbps. Should be at least 700 Mbps via ethernet so something in my simple network is causing these ridiculously slow speeds (I say slow because I pay for 1 gig service). Same thing with my iPhone 12; I've gotten 500 -600 Mbps about 4 times ever and that was standing right next to the AX50.
    So I've gotten 500+ Mbps speeds a handful of times in the last six months so I know it's possible with the hardware I have. But I want 500+ Mbps speeds (wired & wireless) 100% of the time (when I'm using wifi right next to the router).

    I had to get a cooler for this router. It's great, small performance hiccups but it heats up badly.

      Really? Do you have it enclosed in anything or on top of any devices?

      @@LamarMK It's on my fridge along with my other GPON unit (set to bridged mode). The fridge area is getting a lot of ventilation (on average, it's like 18-20C in the fridge area permanently)
      And my wifi was really bad. It was like 30% as fast as my old router (which is a single core AC router from ASUS) while using Wifi6. And then I found out online that a lot of these wifi6 routers heat up A LOT and especially this model has a lot of overheating issues.
      So I bought a laptop cooler and I placed both the AX50 and the ZTE GPON on it so that air gets blown straight in the router itself. Now the internet is stable and I am getting about 500 mbps down and 500 mbps up through wifi in my room on my S10+. Up from 120 and 90 like it was before.
      I'm considering moving to a simple AC router from this AX50 router in case anything else pops up. I already did a lot of settings to it.

      The exterior of a fridge always has heaters to prevent mold and condensation! Not a good place for any electronics!

    • @FOGoticus
      @FOGoticus Před 3 lety +1

      @@rgruenhaus The fridge is placed on the hallway of the apartment. The hallway of the apartment gets a lot of ventilation due to windows being open. Currently, the hallway has a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius. Plus, there is a laptop cooler blowing air into the routers.
      It's physically impossible for something designed to be static to overheat there with all that ventilation and those very good temps.
