Just bought this particular router from Target on sale for 65 bucks and its probably the best router I've ever owned. I live in a 2 bedroom single story apartment and I get great speeds and connectivity all over. I love TP link the tether app is really easy to use and setup is really simple. You cannot beat this unit for the money.
Oh wow $65 😱 that’s a Super Deal!!! Totally agree, this is by far one of the best Routers I’ve ever owned. The range and speed never disappoints, always stays connected, Love it! Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, Stay tuned for more content. 💪👍
Hey man how's it going. How is it a year later? I'm thinking of buying it. For my Xfinity internet to save 15 bucks a month.

Wow, your subs have gone up nicely in the 2yrs since you filmed this...well done! I expect by now you've upgraded. Did you have any issues with it? I've just gotten the AX53 to run our upcoming 1GB FTTP package.
Yes, it has, thanks. 😁 No issues with it, I’ve upgraded to the Deco X20 Mesh System, I have another video on that. 👍💪
Hi do you know if this router has an axial connection by chance?
Hello Lamar, I'm just wondering since you have full/haft and quarter speed of a 200mb/s, is that same principle apply if you have a base speed of 100 or 1000Mb/s? I'm actually looking to buy for same router.
Hey Alvin 👋! Yes, it’s the same principle. 👍💪
can you tell me the last test 64.7 Mbps distance in meter , i am confuse which one to buy ax50 or ax73

Haha Thanks. 😁
Excellent review! We're moving into a much larger house. I won't be able to run ethernet cables through the walls. I'm looking at getting two of these and running them in WDS mode to bridge my wired network segments while also allowing wifi devices to connect.
Thank you and Congrats! For a setup like that you could look into this Mesh System from TP-Link here’s my review. czcams.com/video/lXjRY56q4ww/video.html 👍💪

is this any good like asus or nighthawk routers for streaming games like on twitch or you tube? and does the internet stay connected at all times?
It’s been very good for me, no complaints.
It has one flaw and it is a big one. It overheats like crazy, if you don't have ideal ventilation around it, it will cut off/restart frequently. You can barely keep you hand on it. The hottest router I've ever seen.
Thanks for sharing. I leave mine in the open like you see and it's perfectly fine. The bottom does get hot, but I don't mess with it every day, it just stays in the same spot. No restarting issues either.
I bought mine 3 days ago. Awesome router.
That awesome! It’s really an amazing router for the price. 👍💪
I lost the box and the paper sheets that came along is in it. Will I have problems getting the password to get inside the router settings?
I have a dlink ac1750 dir 867 router, can I use the tp link as my primary router and the dlink as a secondary access point on same ssid?
Yeah, there are options in the settings to set it up as an Access Point if you wanna do that. 👍💪
May I ask how you setup the cable with AX3000? I have the ISP router , should I unplug all cable and just plug to AX3k or ? Thank you !
Do you have 2 separate items from your ISP, a Modem and Router? Or do you have an all in one system which is the modem+router?
@@LamarMK I am wondering the same thing and have an all in one (im with nowtv). I haven't set up my new ax50 but wondering if I have to get a new modem or can I plug it into my current router? Thanks
When setting up the router, should you put the ISP router in bridge mode or keep it as is?
Keep it as it is. Connect to the new WiFi network after.
Just ordered mine for 77€, crazy price. Great review!
Great Deal! Thanks, stay tuned for more. 👍💪

do i have to plug this into my router ? cus i have a tp link whole home wifi thing and it’s good but i still lag here and there so
Which Mesh System do you have? TP-Link has a OneMesh system where you can link other routers to the network.
Hi, Just wondering if this work as same as the Netgear? I'm trying to improve my internet connection but my pc doesn't have wifi inbuild so I only use an ethernet cable and using the Netgear to connect the same internet as the router or it use its own internet name and so on? FYI, my modem is 1 floor above so I would need wireless. I can see this product decent compared to the nighthawk(which is bit pricy).
Hey there! It's a regular router, so whichever way you're using your Netgear you can replace it with this and set it up just the same.
They now have a Newer updated model of the AX50. Item Link in the Description. 👍💪
What’s the difference? I saw the newer version listed on Amazons page at a higher price. Is it worth it?
Can you login to the app of the router while your not home?? Like control the router and change settings etc ?
Yes you can. 👍💪
Whats the range like through walls and in to garden ?
Roughly around 220ft.
Why no set-up and registration of router? That's where I had the most problems! I had to put my old router back in place at midnight because TP-Link tech assist is only available certain weekday hours! Once my router was registered it got online and working great, but the QR code did nothing and the router site wouldn't come up till router was registered!
To set up the router all you needed was the Tether App like I showed in the video. You could have downloaded it on your phone and set it up almost instantly. 👍💪
Just ordered mine, great tutorial love
That’s Awesome! Please consider Subscribing. 😊
hey does it require separate modem or is this a combo of router and modem?
It requires a modem. It's just a router, it's not an all in one system like a router with built-in modem functionality.
Hi, On this model we can configure a printer by USB port?
I've never tried since everything is connected wirelessly, but there's a USB port on it that I think you can use to do that. 👍💪
So am from South Africa I just wanted to know if I buy this router will I need to pay like a monthly fee or not to always stay connected on the internet please help
A router is basically your Antenna to spread the wireless signal throughout your house. So yes, you still need to have an internet connection going to your house from an internet service provider, and then you connect the router to your modem. The internet connection goes through the modem and to the router. 👍💪
I just got the AX55 version of this, I am actually impressed to see that router going so far, Yo could install WiFi spy cams at the bottom of that Garden and still get motion notifications lol...
But yeah TP-Link is doing things internet providers should be ashamed of, They even cheap out on crap Cat 5 cables, I had to get cat 8 coz the cat 5 an 6 Sky give me was poop...
Cat 8 makes a difference for sure...
I am hoping this router will make my VR Sim Racing better online....
Hello friend. I want to know from what distance the router can connect to the network?
You can go pretty far and still have a connection. Check out the range test I did in the video and you will get an idea. 👍💪
Does this router heat up? I've heard about this heating still and I'm a little bit worried. Great Video, Thanks
The bottom gets a little hot, but as long as you keep the router out in the open and not on top of any other devices it should be perfect. Mine is still doing great and it stays out in the open like I show in the video. 👍💪
Mine keeps kicking me out, or i have to restart devices in other to connect again to the internet.
Hi LAMAR MK. I have been fascinated with the AX50 for a while and wanting to get it, but the economy is a little tight right now, so it will have to wait a bit, but right now I have a Linksys WRT-1900AC, which is 6 years old and I am farely happy with it, but I live in a 4 story house and we live on the second floor and the Linksys has a hard time reaching out on the porch on the 4th floor, do you think the range of the AX50 would be significantly better in reaching this area? Another question. Were all your measurements with legacy wifi 5 clients and none with wifi 6 clients? I myself have just bought a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, which has wifi 6 and I would like to take advantage of this, since I have heard that wifi 6 has better range, than wifi 5, is this true?
Sincerely Thomas.
Hi Thomas, thanks for checking out my channel. It will get better soon, just keep hanging in there. 🙏
In my demonstration it had to go through several walls, so you should still be able to pick up the signal as long as you point the antennas in those direction.
Yes the devices I used to test are WiFi 5 and I was able to get those amazing performance. So I can only imagine how much better it will be on WiFi 6 devices.
Please consider sharing this video. 🤝
@@LamarMK Thanks Very Much for your quick answer and Very Impressive Indeed, that these results are with Wifi 5 only and you are right, with wifi 6, I am sure it will get better still.
One more question. Where did you place the router, regarding floor? Was on the same floor as your garden or was it in the basement or perhaps on the first floor? I´d really like to know.
I will share your vide, although not many of my friends in fb are interested in those things, but I will do it anyway.
Have a Great Day.
Sincerely Thomas.
Hey Thomas, you're welcome. This router is truly one of the best I've had.
The router is located on the 2nd floor, same location as my old router where I wasn't even getting close to the performance of the AX50.
Thanks, any support will help. Maybe this will fix their internet speeds also lol.
Thanks and Have a Great Day Also.
Was there any thick walls in between when you went to the yard?
Multiple walls. 👍💪
When you are getting wireless @220mbps. What is your ISP speed through ethernet cable?
I have Vodafone fibre 500mbs but only getting 35-40mbps Wifi on most devices, that goes through main modem Vodafone. Hope this will speed up things and I will receive better signal/speed in d house
I get the same speeds though the Ethernet cable as I do on WiFi. Let me know if you see any improvements once you test it out. 👍💪

I kept waiting for you to say AY as Canadians do! LOL sleepy talking. @@LamarMK thanks. Currently I have Motorola MG7550 Router which is combo of modem and router. Do you think if I buy this and separate router then It will increase my internet speed and coverage?
It would be best to get the latest standalone free modem from your ISP. Then you can connect this router to it, and you should have better speed and coverage.
Can you confirm on heating issues ? Is it true
Not as bad as the comments make it seem. The bottom gets a little hot, but it works great if it remains in the open.
What brand is your white modem
The white thing on the stand next to my router is for my Eufy Security Camera System. My regular ISP modem is at the bottom of the stand.
That is so cool
Thanks! 👍💪
Funny because I have the same router w/ Xfinity gig service with an Arris S33 2.5 gig modem and I get 200 Mbps on the 5 ghz channel on my iPhone 12 standing right next to it. Also (have a 1700 sq foot home); my router is in my kids room & only the bathroom separates the kids room from my room and from my room I get a weak signal on my Chromebook & iPhone. I had to buy a TP-Link RE650 extender to put in my bedroom so that I get full signal strength (it's about approx 20 feet from the router to where I sit in my room through 2 walls with the bathroom in the middle and the signal is weak). In the backyard there is pretty much no signal. The only way I have a signal in the backyard is from the extender in my room (both router & extender are on the second floor).
Ethernet into LAN ports I pull around 200 Mbps. I'd say about 4-5 times since February 2022 I've pulled 600 Mbps through the LAN ports. But 99.9% of the time it's around 200-240 Mbps. Should be at least 700 Mbps via ethernet so something in my simple network is causing these ridiculously slow speeds (I say slow because I pay for 1 gig service). Same thing with my iPhone 12; I've gotten 500 -600 Mbps about 4 times ever and that was standing right next to the AX50.
So I've gotten 500+ Mbps speeds a handful of times in the last six months so I know it's possible with the hardware I have. But I want 500+ Mbps speeds (wired & wireless) 100% of the time (when I'm using wifi right next to the router).
Do you have the router enclosed in anything? Did you make any changes to the default settings in the router? It could be a configuration issue.
Do i need to pay monthly for this router? Also do i need a fios internet or just any wireless internet for this router to work?
No you do not need to pay, you buy it so you own it. The only thing you’re paying for is your internet service from the service provider. Works with pretty much any internet provider.
@@LamarMK so that means i can use it with my verizon gateway home internet right? Will it improve my internet alot because we have 30+ devices connected to it and it affects our internet and makes it much worse

Don't Buy TP Link heating problem always occurs!
TP-Link Archer AX50 AX3000 is really powerful router by speed & coverage. One more interesting thing is 3 years Free Built-in Antivirus. Hurrrraaaaa
🥳 It sure is. Glad it’s doing great for you as well.
is the range only good for wifi 6 devices?
All devices. The devices I tested with were WiFi 5.
Does anyone happen to have the problem of the router's internet led suddenlly turning orange? What did you do to fix it?
See if this helps.
1. Disconnect the router from the modem and power source.
2. Hard reset your ISP modem with the reset button or pin hole.
3. Reconnect the router to the modem once the modem starts booting up.
4. You can also try to hard reset both the modem and router.
Hopefully, that helps.
Try turn off modern and router. If it doesn’t work, it’s likely internet shortage in your area.
I just got this yesterday, my wifi signal and speed drops alot when I'm in my 2nd floor bedroom. Thinking of getting Asus ax3000 and compare then return one of em.
Really?! Where is the router located? Are you connected to 2G or 5G?

I left at smart connect, it seems like changed to 2.4 when I went up in my room. I was getting 8 mbps down and 0.23 up.But after turned off smart connect and retested on 5G I got 144 down 13.9 up. I thought 2.4 is for better range but its not. My router is in 1st floor living room, far opposite site from this room.
Awesome! Glad it’s better now. You don’t want it on smart connect at all, with that on it automatically switches the bands. 2G should only extend the range but not speed, I keep everything on 5G and have no issues with range or speed.
It could also perform better if you had it on the 2nd floor.

At 5G, Asus ax3000 gets 480 mbps down when my internet plan is only at 400 mbps. Tp link was getting under 300 mbps. So Asus looks like a winner for extra $30. But I had to go to best buy to exchange since my delivered unit was a defect. Returning my tp link AX50 to amazon.
Impressive! Well faster speeds is all that matters, as long as you’re happy that’s a win. ✊
has their been any heating issues?
Nothing crazy!
It looks the same as my AX1500 which is perfect for my Oculus Quest 2
Nice! Yes, they’re similar designs. Just different performance. 👍💪
Nice! I love that you showed the range with your garden. I bought it!
Awesome, glad you appreciate the video. Let me know how you like it once you get it. 👍
Thanks for the review, im definitely ordering this one. Been paying for 800 mbps without realizing that my router cant really handle 800 mbps.
You're welcome, glad to help. Let me know how you like it once you get it. 👍💪
Good luck getting anything higher that 230 by wireless with this router.
@@paulsaunders6536 well i have a deco m4 that can extend the range of the wifi so i don't think that will be a problem
@@paulsaunders6536 Plus its better than my old one which was only getting me 20-40mbps wireless.
@@paulsaunders6536 I got more than that. 👍💪
Does it support OFDMA?
Yes it does.
How does it handle gaming?
Does pretty good, you can also prioritize your gaming devices. 👍💪
hows the router temperature? Read some reviews that it get really hot. Thanks
I’ve had no such issues with mine ever. That’s weird.
Mine gets really hot, need aux fans to cool it down. But its a good router, just bad ventillation design
@@alvint4944 Heard with the new firmware update , things got better , some of the reviewer said so , no idea.
@@freakenste Mine got 3 fans cooling this router, so far so good.
3 Fans??? Mine is still in the same spot with no additional fans. Running great! 👍
Make a video on the Ax5400
Can u helpp me do u have to pay monthly for the router ?
No. The only thing you’d pay is your monthly bill with your internet service provider. 👍💪
@@LamarMK oh yeah sorry for being stupid i just realised that a while ago hahah tysm
@@isaaccork664 Haha, no prob. Always happy to help. 😁👍💪
Are you still using this router now and how has it been if you are?
It was great while using it, I’m now using their Mesh System in this video: czcams.com/video/lXjRY56q4ww/video.html 👍💪
I had to get a cooler for this router. It's great, small performance hiccups but it heats up badly.
Really? Do you have it enclosed in anything or on top of any devices?
@@LamarMK It's on my fridge along with my other GPON unit (set to bridged mode). The fridge area is getting a lot of ventilation (on average, it's like 18-20C in the fridge area permanently)
And my wifi was really bad. It was like 30% as fast as my old router (which is a single core AC router from ASUS) while using Wifi6. And then I found out online that a lot of these wifi6 routers heat up A LOT and especially this model has a lot of overheating issues.
So I bought a laptop cooler and I placed both the AX50 and the ZTE GPON on it so that air gets blown straight in the router itself. Now the internet is stable and I am getting about 500 mbps down and 500 mbps up through wifi in my room on my S10+. Up from 120 and 90 like it was before.
I'm considering moving to a simple AC router from this AX50 router in case anything else pops up. I already did a lot of settings to it.
@@FOGoticus Got ya, thanks for the detailed explanation. Great workaround also. Do you have another router in mind that you might try?
I just did a review of their new WiFi 6 Mesh System if you wanna check it out. Haven’t noticed any heating issues.
The exterior of a fridge always has heaters to prevent mold and condensation! Not a good place for any electronics!
@@rgruenhaus The fridge is placed on the hallway of the apartment. The hallway of the apartment gets a lot of ventilation due to windows being open. Currently, the hallway has a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius. Plus, there is a laptop cooler blowing air into the routers.
It's physically impossible for something designed to be static to overheat there with all that ventilation and those very good temps.
Can anyone please teach me how to connect this to my Ps4 pro!!
Just connect your PS4 to the WiFi network like how you connect your other devices. Or you can plug it in with an Ethernet cable. 👍💪
How far is the range on this
The range test I did was maybe around 200-250 ft. 👍💪
Thanks
@@amranwar. You're welcome! Stay tuned for more. 👍💪
Hi Lamar. My daughters Dell Inspiron 7558 Laptop does not see my TP-Link Archer AX50 router but does see the neighbors. You have been very helpful in the past and home you can help me out again
Hey Kurt! Have you tried to reset the network settings on Windows?
@@LamarMK Thank you for getting back with me. I did do this and it still does not show are home router
@@TheZuk224 You have 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks showing on your other devices? If so, best bet might be to reinstall windows on the laptop. What’s going on with your laptops and WiFi lately?
@@LamarMK I only get 2.4g on my other laptops and phones. The 5g only shows on the TP-Link when I open the settings. My daughters laptop is still not showing the home network
@@TheZuk224 Do a pinhole reset and factory reset your router. What kinda phone do you have?
