14:55 Hit me pretty hard. Have yet to actually put out the things I want, as I'm too busy planning in fear of it not working out. But that saying Walt Stanchfield said:
“We all have 10,000 bad drawings in us. The sooner we get them out the better.”
    Just gotta do it.

I found discipline (and a surprising of encouragement) by creating a spread sheet of several goals. Along the top row are the goals with the dates down the first column.
I try to get a baby step in each column every date. It has been the most useful for fitness. It has kept me disciplined. I'll just write "2x10PU /Curls 1min plank" for 2 sets of 10 pushups and same for bicep curls and 1 minute plank. "meditated 5 minutes" "listened to audible in the car" or even tiny things if I didn't get much done. Music (didn't practice today but) "picked up guitar at the shop" so now it's in prime condition... keeping track of not stagnating.

It is so hard for me to write my goals downs just because I rarely do it. I do write down the goals I want to reach during the month or the year, but I never have been able to be constant on creating a daily list of things to do for the week.
Mostly is because the majority of the time things don’t go as expected (scheduled wise) and that actually makes me think “why I make a weekly list of things if I’m not able to complete them over all”.
But thank you for this comment because it helped me understand that it’s about building myself up to those goals. That even though it didn’t happen as expected, I am able to find the right moment to make it happen.

Your simple metaphors are perfect. For some reason “The car isn’t lazy when it runs out of gas, it just needs the right gas.” mentally slapped me pretty hard. I don’t consider myself that lazy, but some days when I try to relax & have a lazy day, I can’t relax, & I feel (the negative weight aspect of) lazy because I hadn’t done something productive all day. Even if I’m productive half the day, & don’t do anything the second half, that’s lazy to me, even on my days off. Idky.

I heard on a motivational video about "addiction to planning," and realized I was. I love sitting with a cup of coffee, a pen and paper, and planning away--my day, my week, my life--then never again looking at the plan. I'm working on overcoming it. Thanks, my brother Hampton, for reminding me.

I've been struggling with some depression and anxiety the last few months and struggled to keep my food and exercise where I wanted them to be. The depression and anxiety are improving now and suddenly the food and exercise are just falling into place. Because I've consistently been making the effort, practicing, those good habits are right there to support me. Now while I am feeling so well I will practice them even more, and if it happens again that I begin to struggle, those good habits will be that much stronger to carry me through.

Yeah that thing about friends really helps, I've been experiencing it lately. For example encouraging one of my friends to find a therapist and make an appointment ASAP cause you usually have to wait 1-2 months for one and in that time it could get much worse, while I also need to find a therapist, really made me realize that I should follow my own advice😅 may not be the best example but you get the point. Also Hampton, your content has been really helping me to get back into calisthenics/fitness and my mindset has also changed thanks to you. I only started like 2 weeks ago and I already feel much better 👍🏻

I recently found that changing my locus of control, or at least working on changing it, has helped with my motivation a lot. I've struggled with a lack of motivation my whole life, and just the conscious idea that all the responsibility of my life falls on me is uncomfortable but also so freeing. Regardless of its effect on you it's an interesting concept if you are not familiar with it.

A side note from all the great things your said.
"For sports or Martial Arts" OR Martial Arts. Very happy you separated the two. It's something not many(Americans) understand. MMA is a sport. Blah blah. I'm ranting. Lol but i also REFUSE to backtrack. I recently (maybe a month ago?) found you on CZcams. I have been struggling greatly with the gyms being closed. Long story short. I was 60+ lbs overweight for my body type(result of a toxic relationship, still my fault I understand), looked like I'd end up with diabetes, said F that, went back to my fit ways, went to gym lots, got in best shape of life(now 32), then Covid19. I have always struggled with sudden change, a backlash/rebellion of losing my father at 15 I realized, I couldn't do what I was used to and hit the goals I had set for myself, so I got depressed and gained 20lbs. I couldn't find motivation/get excited about home workouts, even though my wonderful wife tried very hard. It just didn't click mentally. Then i found you, the way you explain things and your outlook. It was like I had found my old self again, and for the better. Now I have gotten back to it and my mood/life/mentality/health is improving and approaching better than ever. I know I'm just one random guy, like "who cares, man!? Shut up!?" That this is a long ass comment. But I wanted to share a little of my story with and let you know how much I appreciate you. Can't say it enough, thank you so much.
