    I'm pretty sure they don't solder the frame together. I'm pretty sure that they weld the frame.

    This is why you buy used older units. You should see how they're made now days ... slapped together in 4x the speed if not more.

    They make the floors so cheap. I see why after 20 years the floor has soft spots. And the roof leaks 🤦‍♀️

      Mine was 16 and had to have entire sub floor and joices replaced. Poor workmanship.

    After watching this why would anybody buy an RV. The low leave of craftsmanship and material... those workers should be ashamed. And I know this videos old but I can tell you they only use cheaper materials and cut even more corners.

      I was told by RV repairman mine is a 2007 he said in 2007 the quality was much better compared to now. That does not say much. But paid notvso great wages and piece rate they are basically forced to slap them together fast by the RV mfrs.

    2x2 wood frame ? No thanks.
    I built my own out of a STEEL frame cargo trailer.

    Sodder the frame parts together??????? Is sodder some new kind of process that is better than welding?

    • @tedschmitt178
      @tedschmitt178 Před 6 lety +4

      veryanoynimouse it's "solder", not "sodder".

    • @ElectronicsForFun
      @ElectronicsForFun Před 2 lety

      she said solder. it's basically the same as welding but at much lower temperatures, typically used for copper like copper electrical wiring or copper pipes. you would never use solder on steal though because it doesn't get anywhere near hot enough to penetrate, it would just break right off.

  • @danielblanke9427

    I can’t think of a single reason to wouldn’t want to solder steel together.

    • @bricology
      @bricology Před 2 lety

      What does "...to wouldn't want to..." even mean?
      Soldering steel together (well, brazing it) is done with tubing and lugs with very tight clearances between them and the tubing. No RV maker in the world "solders steel together" for the frame; they _weld_ it.

  • @ElectronicsForFun
    @ElectronicsForFun Před 2 lety

    did she just say they solder the frame together? that doesn't sound right. it looks like they're MIG welding the frame together, not soldering it.

  • @EpicToTheLimit
    @EpicToTheLimit Před 10 lety +3

    they are using a mig welder

    • @cobre7717
      @cobre7717 Před 4 lety

      You can solder with a mig welder. These people in this video were definitely 100 welding.... but you can solder with a mig welder.

    Also -- "...a thin wood called 'luan'..."
    No, it's called "plywood", and it _some_ varieties are made from wood called "luan" (pronounced "luh-WAN"). What they are showing is _not_ luan.
