VR Tuned shows just how much more you can get out of the this BMW I8 with a 1.5L turbocharged engine combined with the electric motors. Like all BMW F-Series cars, the I8 can be flashed via the diagnostic port and does not require the ECU to be removed for unlocking and patching. This means you can easily flash between your tuned and stock files at anytime. You can also read and clear trouble codes. VR Tuned uses the Frieling Racing system to flash cars.

How do you calculate in this case the drivetrain loss? I’m asking because in release the car should start to recover energy from the electric motors
We are doing 3rd or 4th gear full throttle pulls. So there is no decel or regen going on.

I always thought you needed to mod your engine, intake, and exhaust if you're ever tuning something. Do flashes actually work? So you got like a 30hp increase from this?
Tuning will always make the biggest performance increase especially on turbocharged cars. Basic bolt ones like an intake and exhaust should not require a custom tune.

For the limited exhausts on the market, yes it would only if it included the downpipe from the turbo.

What is the max HP you have put through the stock transmission? Is there a HP/TQ limit for that trans?
Not sure how much the transmission can handle but you would need to do some serious upgrades to make enough power to damage the transmission.

Absolutely
There isnt an awd drivetrain loss because the front wheels are driven exclusively by the electric motors....... there isnt a mechanical awd system sucking power.

There is always going to be drivetrain loss
Yeah you have to do separate maths for each drivetrain calculation
You have a lower drivetrain loss because the electric motor doesn't have much loss to it than if it was a mechanical 4wd.

Unfortunately they don't spit flames like some other BMWs.
If only BMW gave it 5 or 7 more cylinders.

The i8 can easily beat the Mercedes C63 and the Audi R8 V8

You know, this is something I can draw as a super car without feeling bad or having a rumbling in my stomach
for such a cool car it makes me sad how lazy bmw was with the powerplant. they could have definitely used some stronger electric motors and used the 2l 4cyl. ATLEAST.
What makes you think they were lazy? They chose it for a variety of reasons, size and weight being just some of them. You’d have to make an already very wide car wider by 100mm or so to add just one more cylinder. Plus the weight addition. I don’t see why an i4 would be any better, people like you that don’t get it would just say should have put an i5 in. AT LEAST. No.

usually 4.4 seconds but people have dropped it under 3.9 seconds with various cheap mods and tuning

Engine swapping the i8 is possible. But it's pretty complicated since it's a hybrid. If it wasn't a hybrid, there wouldn't be a problem.
Malti Psikotiku id go with the Ford Fiesta St motor with 450 hp and upgrade the electric motors orrrr just go full electric aka tesla swap😈
Anything is possible when it comes to swaps. Look up v10 E30 swap or LS beetle swap, everything can be done. But it would depend on how much money the owner/shop would want to put into it.
Bear in mind it’s a carbon fibre chassis. So quite a bit more difficult to cut and shut the chassis to fit a different engine

Just get rid of that engine and the hybrid set up drop a e60 v10 m5 engine and mate it to a m3 dct and your golden pony boy
1. The i8 isn't big enough to have the v10.
2. The e60 v10 engine is a terrible choice due to it's poor reliability.
