Huge Caylus fan (I own the board game). Used to play about 8 to 10 years ago with a group, but we have since moved on. I don't have anyone to play with anymore and my wife refuses to play, lol. I'm hoping to try to start playing again (online first and hopefully in person again someday), and I found your video and watched in its entirety to help me brush up on the game! Very helpful and entertaining. Well done and thanks! 👏

Comment on a 6 year-old stream. On the final favor, black could have gone up on resource and taken the food, then gone up the building track and built the 6 point stone building (you are allowed to take a lesser award), and then 1VP for the 3rd favor

I'm not sure if this gets acknowledged later on in the video, but I'm pretty sure that at 1:51:05 Matt doesn't get his points for the "lawyer" building :O

There was some serious salt there for a bit! It is good you all have the right attitude and don't let salt get in the way of enjoyment of the game and each other's company.

You are correct. I double-checked that a few times as well. What's the statute of limitations?

At 2:02 green gets a favor before walls scoring for being first at the castle.

You mentioned that high-level players recommend against the point favor track. That's a new idea to me. In my opinion the weak track is the resource track although the designer has said it's stronger with 5 players. However, I don't intend ever to play it at that count. I think it's at its best at 3.
I also think the Peddler & the Market are the best tiles to build first. They give you the most points up front and are less beneficial to your opponents. They'll still use them plenty so you'll get points, but they're getting less in return.
Great game. I've played it well over 50 times online and in person and it remains one of my favorites. Interactive, low-luck euros don't come any better unless you've got 5 players. Then it's time for Hansa Teutonica.

Great playtrough. Very exciting. I only played it two player for real and this video is making me want to play it soon with more. I play against AI on the ipad. Its fun. And indeed.. They should have ended it with moving the provost. You could see it coming that edward would win with one last turn. Frustrating 😀
