  • "The Government's got some big numbers in the Budget, but they're not actually getting to the root cause of the big problems.
"But what the Government's clearly trying to do is spread a lot of cash around to help the millions of Australians who are struggling with cost of living."

I glad that Australia Institute is getting some air time.. One party is just looking after it's mates and the other is scared to do genuine reform. It is the people of Australia who must speak louder to make our politicians brave enough to do what is required ie affordability, fossil fuel subsidies, HEX, housing and that other minor issue "Climate change".

Can't get the $300 energy handout if you are in a tent. So yeah, kinda shows how stupid it is missing out the most needy..

Doing something about inequality is so old school Labor. It's a very different Labor party now.

Yet again, RD doubles down on $14B in FF subsidies, a claim that has been debunked many times.

I haven’t heard about the debunking. Could you recommend a good critique of RD’s claims?

@@sittopee Google "Fossil fuel subsidy debunk" and read the RMIT fact check on Adam Bandt's claims. Turns out the majority of what AI calls subsidies are actually tax rebates, and in particular fuel tax credits. This is NOT a subsidy, and the government cannot legally withhold the money.

@@jinnantonix4570 Thanks for the recommendation a google of "RMIT fact check on Adam Bandt's claims" found nothing of relevance and going to the RMIT Factlab I went back as far as august 2022 and also found nothing. It's nice of you to provide the resource that shows you are full if it.

@@jinnantonix4570 Mate. Subsidies = Not paying any tax. Don't try to muddy the water. The fact they don't pay any tax is their subsidy. It's costing US!
