    It’s definitely a bit unnerving that the area of tracks making contact with the trailer on either side is about 5 inches or so and the other foot and a half is hanging over the edge. 😳certainly hope the binders stay secure!!! Definitely some serious equipment for hauling though. Don’t see those here in Gloucester Massachusetts much lol 😂 those guys are good 👍

  • @Winchester1979
    @Winchester1979 Před 3 lety +6

    Oh wow, I was about to comment about how sketchy it looked when basically none of the weight of the machine was actually on the trailer deck rather than the timbers on the sides, when the whole "lift the digger up using the boom so that blocks can be put under it" happened. So in the end the machine's weight is transferred through the wooden blocks into the deck... and then the boom is used to make sure the machine can't move anywhere sideways. Interesting solutions all around.

The one I run was 11 axle with no remote steering and 128' long to spread the weight out. Love watching and seeing how others do it.

      @johnwiesner6534 Před 3 lety

      @@jaquigreenlees I pulled heavy haul beam trailers for 20 yrs, There is a beam trailer that can handle the weight. a13 axle trailer can do it. 66.11 metric ton equals 145,767 pounds. The beam trailer saves weight because the floor is eliminated. That savings equals more payload.

    • @yorkshirerich2970
      @yorkshirerich2970 Před 3 lety +5

      We only use beam trailer's here in the UK for loads that will be over hight, most normal machines like the 700 will just go on the normal deck, quicker to load and not as much messing about, plus running a normal deck he's ready for whatever load he's doing.
      We can at over 16 foot tall without any special permits or permissions.
      Weight saving isnt a problem, neither is overall weight, as long as axle weights are correct, that's what they get us for over here.

      What I meant Paul was for heavy stuff we run under STGO rules 1=50 000kg 2=80 000 kg 3= 150 000 kg.
      That's why gross isn't as I said as critical.
      If running under C&U regulations at 44 000kg obviously gross weight is more of an issue.
      So going back to my previous post we used to move a 30 000kg excavator, which at STGO 1 was about 1500kg within the gross weight limit, but load it wrong you were still legal gross wise, but axles could be overloaded.
      The D8 with blade and ripper was over weight for STGO 3 so was moved on STGO 2 still well within the limits, but again could end up with axle overload.
      Yes like you say gross does matter obviously but when running STGO 1 and 2 99% of the time gross weight wasn't a problem, because we had capacity upto 80 000kg.
      So yes gross weight does matter but you are far more likely to get caught with axle overload, than exceeding the gross.

      11 tons per axle,trailer is perfect for 70 tons.4 axle tractor,to pull combined weight of load+trailer,easily.More wheels=more braking power.Especially downhill.I am assuming some welsh roads need weight to be spread over lots of axles.
