Reminds me of my youth, used to go out in the swamp at daybreak and return as the sun went down.
Mom wouldn't let me in the house till I stripped down LOL, she wouldn't check my pockets either since the time she found a little queen snake in one !
Now in my 50's with grown kids and Grandkids watching you crawl through rivers and creeks makes me smile.

When I was a kid we float fished using tubes from Mack trucks. They worked awesome and were free.

That part of the hiwassee is awesome in the morning and late afternoon, love that area been there several times and landed some really nice smallies and large mouths as well as trout. Keep it up John and hope to catch you in some live action lol

I use to do that very thing in the 80s. Cheap K-Mart inflatable raft, Zebco UL-3 underspin, and several Rapala floating minnows.... aside from a sore tail, from crashing into rocks in the shallows, it made for an awesome day of fishing. Great video my friend!!

Tip from an old whitewater kayaker: get scotch brite scrub pads, large ones are best. Use spray adhesive and glue the pad to the bottom of your shoes, no more slipping on slick rocks

Nice work out there brother! Love stream and creek fishing, smallies some of of favorite fish to catch. One of my favorite spots for them up here in NJ is at the bottom of a waterfall, snaggy as all get out, but some big ones in there.

Now you're in my neck of the woods! :) Try the lower end of Tellico River at the backwaters of Tellico Lake when the White Bass start to run...around the time the Dogwoods start to bloom.
I just turned 60 and I have been a meat cutter for over 26 years. The stress we deal with daily and the anger because of this virus has REALLY taken its toll on All the cutters I know. What u are doing is a fantasy for me. Keep fishing, be careful and God keep you safe my friend..

I went up there last Friday for a few hours, and got skunked, it was depressing lol, the first time that's happened to me since I started going up there. It's still one of my favorite places to go I've found yet though. You describe it perfectly, especially as you go further above the powerhouse, you can be wading in six inches of water and all of the sudden not pay attention and be in over your head. It reminds me of the Nolichucky River in Unicoi County, TN it is a lot like that. Nice smallmouth in the deep hole there, I love that area. Great video!

In all seriousness, you've given me an idea; one of the rivers I fish here, the Tangipahoa, used to be known for tubing. The state shut down tubing there in the 80s, because the surrounding dairy farms jacked up the bacteria levels. I know that you can get a tube, with a canvas seat, somewhere. I could use a setup like that on larger rivers, where there are some deep holes that just can't be waded.

Nice fishing John!The heat here has been terrible.....97 plus degrees most days....the waters around here are 88-90 degrees. feels like bath water and the fishing has been terrible. I need to get west of here in the NC/VA mountains or foothills. Supposed to fish the New river in SW Va with a friend Sat or Sun.

When using the built in gopro mic's, especially with the waterproof housing, I've found it beneficial to change the audio settings to wind mode only so it doesn't switch between that and stereo. Keep rockin' the great videos!

Iv'e always wanted to fish the Hiwassee. I'm sure there are some big trout in there at some point. I'll have to try some of those Nikko Craw baits. The success I have had with their Hellgrammites would give me confidence enough to try them. Wish I could get some time off to be able to go explore the kinds of places you do. Great video, nice fish.

Get u one of those good fishing tubes i used one before i used kayaks!i loved it unless u wanted to go a lil distance and then u were screwed!i had flippers on but u had to go backwards,but allot of fun floating down the cape fear!!

Saw your Nashville trip. Go just west of Nashville on I-40 and you'll cross the Duck river, ( excellent for smallmouth, spotted, rock bass) and the Harpeth river which has the same compliment of fish. Go further down the road and you'll come to the Buffalo River. Great smallmouth fishing.
Those river rocks are the slickest on earth!!!
