I'm pretty sure you could get 2 ogre vangaurds from AoS and like 1 more box of stuff and have a decent 2k list, may be the cheapest army in the old world!
2 vanguard boxes and a couple of firebellys/butchers and you're grand
I checked and you definitely can as long as you take a couple of magic items. You actually end up HAVING to take magic standards in both units of Bulls as otherwise you don't have enough Core unit points. You also have to limit yourself on upgrades for the Leadbelchers/Mournfangs, as otherwise they end up taking too great a % of your points. I'm not sure it would be a GOOD list or not, but hey that's a low barrier to entry and you can add stuff from there.
Luv me Ogres, simple as. Had a chance to see you on Saturday, regret not saying hello still was good to meet you from a distance. Who won in the end Beastmen/WoC or Empire/Dwarfs? Keep up the old world content.
They are definitely one of my most favorite legacy factions from old world warhammer and age of sigmar. Take what you want? Smash what you want? Eat what you want? Fans of food and wealth? My kind of faction!
No Gorkamorka nonsense here. Only the MAW!
Praise be the ravenous one. I have become much less salty about AoS over the years but how they did ogres dirty is an insult that still stings.
I found the Firebelly worked great on an Araby Carpet in 8th. He becomes basiclly an afforable dragon. Don't know if it still works in ToW tho.
xd
The Flying Carpet is unfortunately only available to regular and heavy infantry, not monstrous infantry.
The strongest army in this edition right now for me, and an amazingly fun playstyle. Got it all
Well you caught that Daemon Sayer Scars are 20 points common item... but you didn't pick up that you can give it to some unit champions, like Ironguts :D
oooooh good catch! that's one of them their Auto-Includes.
I was just wondering what to get for 25 or less pts last night. Jesus.
I'm currently working on completing a list with 7 units: Tyrant on Stonehorn, 2 Firebellies, a Bruiser in bull unit, 2 irongut units, and a mournfang unit... all cause Terror :D
I run chaos Ogres, this version of ogre charge is seriously making me want to run more the 6 ogres. It's 3-15 in the chaos army I think expensive but tempting
I think a good player could win a tournament with ogres cause they are slept on Bretonnia and Empire armies would get chewed up by Yehtees
Shame Sabretusks are no longer s tier screener (min 2 unit), leadbelchers cannon is weaker. Gorgers, manhunters, yhetees are all very expensive. Cheaper heroes, better ironfist and ironguts is not bad though
The 4 pts between ironguts and bulls with ironfists does also mean thatvthe bulls have 4 attacks. Also inititive 5 instead of 4 on a charge
Against low armour horde, bulls have there place.
Chucking veteran in you have a 6 pts difference, so basically 6 iron guts vs 7 bulls. Id take at least one healthy unit of bulls rsther than a throw away 3 man unit, and then an irongut unit.
What size ranks would be best for ogres? Typically in fantasy they were in ranks of 3 models but now base sizes have gone up I feel ranks of 4 would be better, like a unit of 8/9 bulls or ironguts would benefit more from a 4x2 or even 4x3 set up rather than a 3x3 or 3x4
Ogres stayed on 40s and from the moment I saw that on the FW post I thought 4xX was the right way to go. You can strike against 5xX 25mm units with your entire front rank that way - and you want to maximise to win those combats.
@@peisenxu952 This is what I was thinking too mate, because everyone got wider ogres need to go at least 1 wider too to counter this, I still haven’t gone over the rules but I’m not sure how many models they need to count as a rank, if it’s 3 then that’s great because you can go 4xX and if one dies (3 wounds tough 4) you’ve still got your rank bonus
@@wolowizard4441 you also need 4 to be able to place characters in the fighting rank if you have full command I think
@@peisenxu952 I did not think of that!! Very good point!! That’s sold then, 4 it is
I wouldn't be so quick to call Ironguts always better than Bulls. I'm not sure if you already considered this but when you say "4 pts gets you great weapons and LD" I don't know if you included the -1 attack. I mean, as an I2 unit I do think they might just be better with great weapons, but still.
I would think the extra strength and AP values of the great weapon would more than mitigate the 3 attacks they get instead of 4 from the bulls.
That one stuck in my craw a bit too. Like in 8th edition I honestly think itonfist bulls were better value for cost. The strength from greatweapons will be overkill and wasted value against any T3 foes you face and damage has never been what ogres struggle with. They hit hard. But survivability can be an issue. So the parry in 8th making bulls tankier than ironguts was a big deal.
In this edition I also think that extra attack will be more worth it than the great weapons against most targets.
He also completely ignored how dangerous a little bomb of trappers causing dangerous terrain checks can be. That was devastating back in 8th. You don't have to do much damage to earn your value back when you only cost 5 pts per model.
I'm so excited for ogres
Might be wrong but i believe hunters always were on 50x50, at least my 6th edition model came with a 50x50
Great content as always bud ♥
Hi, you mentioned the Tyrant has 100 points if magic items, my pdf didnt have any points values on for any of the tyrant upgrades or the Hunters. Can you advise any corrections for the pdf??
You can buy up to 100p of magic items for your Tyrant. List of magic items is on page 21 of official OgreKingodms pdf.
Watching now!
👍
FOR ALGORYTHMO! FOR THE STEVE! FOR LUGNUT MCGILLYGULLY JR THE BESTIGOR!
Can you dispel only one spell at conjuration phase or you can dispel all of them "remains in play" ?
Hunters have always been 50 by 50 so they can rank up with the sabretusks.
How do mercenaries work? Not heard it mentioned elsewhere i dont think
17:50 Can someone explain that? Is the Initiative bonus for charging new?
Yes it's new, you can gain a bonus to initiative depending on how far you charge. You can get up to +3 Initiative for charging in front arc (1 point for every 3 inches of movement) and +4 initiative for charging flank and rear (1 point for every inch of movement) if I remember correctly
Could you please redo the dwarfs? Pretty please 🥺
I dunno how much thought they put into the legacy lists when it comes to the setting itself -- I myself am most disappoint with the Chaos Dwarf legacy list for using only the Tamurkhan army list, very sad, very sad.
Though I wonder if they are gonna release an Ogre Mercenary "arcane journal" or "army book" in the future, like, it's perfectly justifiable to have Ogres over in the Old World at this time, since older army books also stated that Ogre Mercs were widely used on both sides during the Great War -- not to mention Mordheim. I hope they do keep the 8th edition timeline for the Leadbelchers, if this happens, and exclude the Leadbelchers for not being in existence until 2420 IC (like they did the Luminark and Hurricanum).
Did i miss gorgers?
No Rhinox riders
Sad day for ogres....
Felt like Rhinox Riders were an add-on that the army didnt really need. IMO GW should have invested more time into the army's hero pool and making the army more interesting instead of creating larger units that were a little redundant. They were cool models for sure, probably deserved their own book and fully fledged out roster. Hell they could take the Yetis, hounds, and hunters and I would be okay with that.
Yeah sad to see, but will save me money trying to buy some lol
Rhinox riders were forge world, but you never needed them. I used to run a gutstar and mournfang..... Everything died.... Good old days
Rhinox were always a forge world add on. They really aren't needed. If you want legendarily punishing super cav Mournfang rill the role.
Man, I really disagree with some of your takes here. Back in 8th, with the parry riles, I honestly think bulls were better than ironguts. They were tankier, cheaper, and hit almost as hard against most targets. Strength 6 was overkill and wasted value on toughness 3 enemy infantry. In this edition I can see them having a place. The ironfist granting armor and extra attack at the same time ses really good.
And if dangerous terrain is anything like it was in 8th (I haven't seen those rules yet) then the gnoblar trappers will be real good. Of course they die if anything so much as looks at them, but they are also incredibly cheap. They are like an explosive, 1 use, but doing significantly more points in damage than they cost. And they will also be good warmachine hunters, sure.
I really like mournfang here. In 8th they could get 2+ armor and parry saves. Thwy were real hard to put down on top of being monster damage dealers. Woth the general reduction in AP in ToW i think with 3+ armor they should be just as tanky.
