    These videos are incredible, Pat's a world class rider giving us one to one tuition that would be out of reach without CZcams.
    When I first rode trials there was no internet let alone CZcams, it took me years to find a handful of rubbish VCR,s of very low quality and no real advice on trials. Fast forward to today, we have Pat's channel and I feel a more accomplished rider following my comeback to the sport thanks to his hard work and advice, I'm a more confident and technical rider than ever. His channel is awesome.

      That’s awesome! Glad you like them. I try to remember how much I would watch Ryan Young’s training vhs video when I was younger and how much they helped me, hoping I can do the same online today. 👍

    Great! I am very happy that you are doing those technique focused videos. It helps me a lot. Thank you! Could you do some vid about rear/front wheel side hop?

      I have a bunch already uploaded on the RYP TV channel: czcams.com/play/PLOADYdrdT1tdsXQ4mX7R3tIIC0jGKO47O.html and more coming. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to see. 👍

    You mentioned as obstacles get bigger you'll need 2nd gear. Part of this is obvious but I'd love to hear you elaborate about 2nd gear, 3rd gear for big obstacles even from a stand still.

    • @PatSmage
      @PatSmage  Před 3 lety +2

      I did one on balance here: czcams.com/video/UwEdSQhcjws/video.html and will have a wheelie one later in the year. Glad you like them!

    Awesome, thanks for uploading this one to your channel. I hope we get to see all of the beginner series videos you made over there. One thing I'm finding is that the front end slams down after getting over the obstacle. I think I need to learn not to chop the throttle and to learn holding pressure?

    • @PatSmage
      @PatSmage  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes chopping the throttle can bring the front end down quick unless you have the flywheel spinning pretty fast from higher rpms. Holding pressure is definitely the next step, this was focused more on just the up technique. Slipping the clutch with a little throttle and keeping your weight a bit further back is key to keeping the front wheel up.

      @@PatSmage Thanks Pat for the reply, I'll be heading to the backyard this afternoon to try this over a small log. The nice thing about trials motorcycles is that you can practice inside a small backyard what you learn from experts like yourself!

    Hello Pat, great video, thanks a lot. But one question is left: what is the best way to get the front wheel down after the first blip? Should the throttle just be closed to let gravity bring the wheel down or should one use the back brake to land the front wheel in the desired spot? Thank you and best regards,

  • @genaminin
    @genaminin Před 3 lety +2

    Do I understand well that double blip can be done without double clutch just using throttle and suspension?

    • @PatSmage
      @PatSmage  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes. It is more effective for bigger obstacles with the clutch though.

    Have you considered doing videos like this for MTB? Like a technique focused series?

    • @PatSmage
      @PatSmage  Před 3 lety +2

      I have been doing one of these a month for quite a while so I haven’t wanted to do any more. I’ve thought about it for MTB but wanted to finish up with these first. I only have one more to do so we will see!
