Just imagine Hooper's situation if Brody hadn't managed to shoot the shark in the end. When I saw this at the Criterion theater in Santa Monica in 1975 the audience erupted in cheers when Roy blew away the shark. It really stuck with me. I've seen few films draw this sort of reaction from the audience.
Part of what makes this movie great is that they just don't have him 1 shot 1 kill the shark, like they could have and people would have been fine with it, but I enjoy the fact that it takes him a couple shots, showing us how human the character is. He's an experienced cop, so he's a trained shot, but he's under a lot of pressure and stress, lack of sleep, fatigue, and everything else is explained perfectly here and that is 1 of the reasons why this is such a fantastic movie.
Contrary to what other people might think, this is still one of the top horror films ever made. Granted this movie is 42 years old, it still scares me. I was not even born until 1980. I LOVE SHARKS
Jane Fujiyama yea boy/girl
rip jaws
Jaws is one of the main reasons that makes sharks so fascinating
The Original 1975 Mono Soundtrack!
Amazing… like my friendship with Monica Rial. :D
2:18
Brody's laugh after he blows up the shark makes this 10 times better
That’s me when I graduated high school
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I watch this movie when it came out in 1975 in Philadelphia I love the movie
I like that afterwards they both start laughing together in victory
Still a great movie almost 50 years later.
I always get emotional watching this scene a heroes victory that's what I call this
One of the best lines ever: "Smile you son of a bitch!"..........and then the explosion!!!!
the tension built up at the end is spectacular. especially when the mast he is holding on to sinks into the water. losing his height advantage. the stakes are high and there is no way out
After this, We never went swimming in salt water again.
Sound effects are much better than the remastered version.. I missed the sounds the m1 makes when Brody checks the magazine
That music gets me every time... Gotta love it
Jaws!! Still a true classic after all these years.....awesome movie!
I saw first saw this movie at a drive-in movie theater and it was freaking awesome.
Smile you Son of a... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
And then, Universal Pictures decided to leave this film alone and move on to their next original blockbuster. I wish.
Connor Brennan jaws 2 was good.
Hoop Rewind How? Most of the story beats were the same as the original, most of the protagonists are teens that hardly get any character, and Brody's character takes a couple steps back.
Jaws 3 had a great story, the fuckin effects.
Don't lie, you've seen all the sequels. Multiple times. They are awesomely bad. And on television all the time.
Jaws The Revenge was terrible, I wish there was a Jaws 5 or a reboot
Jaws is movie of my childhood and i im re-watch it so many times
Watched Jaws on the plane to and from New York still my favourite
I love this film, remember my mum telling me she saw it at the cinema, when Brody killed jaws the whole cinema was up cheering.I am 48 and wish I could go back in time to see that.Dont make films like that any more.
Just imagine Hooper's situation if Brody hadn't managed to shoot the shark in the end. He would've had to watch the shark eat Brody and then realize that the boat is destroyed, and that his only way to get back to land is by swimming. In other words, he would've had to wait for the shark to eat him too.
The roar sound effect at 2:47 is the same sound effect in Duel when the truck goes over the cliff.
Spielberg directed both films.

Omg the marine guy is alive he's my favorite omg I can't believe he's alive I'm so happy
Please Hollywood, don’t try to remake this movie classic!
When I saw this at the Criterion theater in Santa Monica in 1975 the audience erupted in cheers when Roy blew away the shark. It really stuck with me. I've seen few films draw this sort of reaction from the audience.
John Williams is the man of the century
any shark movie i think of JAWS......and still till this day i'm always afraid of swimming or going in the OCEAN. Such a Classic
STONECOLD1987, dont be its ok to swim in the ocean, just be carful how far you go out
Hey stone cold? did u know Jaws is not the only shark movie... theres another one called 47 Meters Down also so Jaws isnt the ONLY shark movie
thats right Russell NEVER go far out into the ocean
Ocean!??! The original story is based on a BULLSHARK attack in a River in the States, I think Illinois in the 20s
Doru Ungureanu Jaws will always be the Best shark movie ever made
Part of what makes this movie great is that they just don't have him 1 shot 1 kill the shark, like they could have and people would have been fine with it, but I enjoy the fact that it takes him a couple shots, showing us how human the character is. He's an experienced cop, so he's a trained shot, but he's under a lot of pressure and stress, lack of sleep, fatigue, and everything else is explained perfectly here and that is 1 of the reasons why this is such a fantastic movie.
Brilliant movie..and the simple two note theme song is still haunting...Great actors and Speilberg directing
Contrary to what other people might think, this is still one of the top horror films ever made. Granted this movie is 42 years old, it still scares me. I was not even born until 1980. I don't remember how old I was when I saw this classic for the first time. I do remember being afraid to swim in my own pool.
Thriller movie or adventure movie.
Agreed. I think I'm right in saying this is up there amongst the most successful films of all time ( I stand to be corrected on that ). But I remember going to see it when I was about 12 or so, scared the life out of me ! You must read the book, it's even better - actually, all of his books are fantastic, I can highly recommend them.
