Okay, I see mine's backlit too. I've kind of given up on trying to enjoy telemetry, and have just gone back to my old school instincts I've been relying on for over 30 years without it anyway. lol Forced DX5Pro owner in protest, because I couldn't return it to Horizon. ;)

I've had the DX3C for years and its been a great radio. Also got the gt3c and radio link.My fav is my old AE MGT & Rival rtr radio's with big dials for quick acess, my perfect radio would be big screen like gt3c w/scroll wheel like spectrum for parameter setup and AE knobs for steer/throttle trims

It's a shame that they didn't show any illustrations for removing the steering connector - the two connectors that you are supposed to disconnect are the ones in the transmitter, not the wheel. That's how I replaced the drop down on my DX6R with the optional steering assembly.
As for a better wheel grip, I totally recommend the Kimbrough "No Slip grip" steering horn (Part #KIM134). I've used one since the early 90's, and it's awesome. It might even help you drive one-handed, if your thumb can reach the wheel. It fits that Spektrum wheel like a glove.

Totally agree with you, I prefer my old Spektrum DX4S. I bought a DX6R when it came out for more channels. It was truly a PIA to program & operate, so I never used it. I wasn't big on the new "off brand" radios, but my Gen 8 Axe came with the Flysky GT5 6 channel radio & I have to admit it's a great radio. It's easy to use & the aux channels are laid out well & channels 3 & 4 are perfect for lights & winch respectively. I wish channels 5 & 6 weren't dial style, but I can live with that.

Dammit! I wish I would have known you had a twin hammers you were wanting to get rid of, I've been looking for one in good shape for a while now! If flysky still comes around and offers you one of theirs I'd still try it out. Although you'd have to switch all of your receivers out they are a good radio. I have had the gt5 for a year and a half now and I really love it. Just wish I could get a twin hammers to run on it! Lol. Have a good one! Thanks for all your videos man I have learned a lot from you!

YES!! DX3S the best radio YET in my opinion. Just got my DX5 Pro and am struggling with it. DUMB screws on the battery compartment, which okay, IF they had a charge jack. MIGHT be tolerable. Here in Florida, if you use reg batteries, we take them out after each use. Seems batteries here for some reason like to corrode and wreck whatever they're in, so the screws are dumb. I got the rechargeable LiPo pack (which seems small, capacity wise) And yeah, still no charge jack. (which our 11-12 year old DX3S does have!) My opinion is the only thing the pro has over a 12 year old radio is more model memory space and a backlit screen. Instructions suck, and it's not all that user friendly. Now gonna watch the rest of the video and hope I get some questions answered....
I hear ya and agree about "Quality going the wrong way"
whoah! 5:58, yours is backlit!? NICE!
you skipped the entire sequence when binding to calibrate the radio..
and yeah, hate that alphabet layout too..(I sent mine back for repairs as the scroll wheel was unworkable. Had a mind of it's own.)
Tried to return this radio, but Horizon wouldn't take it back. Kinda feel stuck now with this thing. See alot of people saying what they paid for it, and ALL paid way less than I did! I got mine from Horizon Hobbies website for closer to $300! Extremely disappointed in this radio. BOOOOO on Spektrum. :(
and oh yeah, ya need a special adapter to charge that LiPo iffin' ya want that option.

Actually, the new Spektrum radios are WAY better. The old ones used to have a bajillion runaways, it was bad. The new ones are really reliable and have a much better signal quality. I know a lot of people who like the Flysky radios, but I hate them. Their menus are not intuitive at all and navigating them is pure hell. If someone comes in the shop and asks for help on a Flysky, I won't even do it. lol You're better off with the Spektrum, trust me. ;) Personally, I'm a Futaba man, but I've been using them without fail for 30 plus years. A lot of people don't like to pay the cost of a Futaba, and Spektrum is the next best thing in my book.

It sounds like we got the dx3s around the same time... and I loved it. but a few months ago I dropped it and broke the screen. Like u I was seriously looking @ the rugged right when it was being released but I opted to buy the flysky noble nb4 and I am happy to say that it is a whole new world with my rcs. The response time is notably faster, it never cuts out like my dx3s did, the range is awesome and the receivers r small and cheap. And it is very solid and well built. Has touch screen. Has software update ability. Comes with 2 receivers. And is only $200. I will probably never buy spectrum again unless they make a dramatic change. Sry this is so long but I hope it helps

Model memories was never an issue for me.... ALL the crawlers are on a different radio, so ALL can be used at once....me, kids, friends, etc...
Don't have more than 10 models on my G1 Spektrum DX3S, and soon to be less, as it will only be one crawler and a couple bashers....looking to get a 5C or the 5 Pro, for racers and 1 more crawler... will probably keep the drop wheel setup though... teying to decide it the 5Pro and drop wheel are worth the extra $ vs the 5C....

  • @Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors

Man... when im ready for a good radio ill have to do a LOT of research... i dont want to deal with silliness like that!
Btw, my tf2 bfg came in yesterday! It already might be the most thrashed bfg out there haha. I bought an extra body for it so i dont have to feel bad about heavy trail patina on this one :-)
