    Hey guys,
Join me and my brother (Adventures with Paul) on a trip around San Francisco to visit the filming locations for the 1996 Michael Bay hit movie, The Rock. Let's reminisce about this action/adventure classic with the great pairing between Nick Cage and Sean Connery.
Thanks for Watching and Keep Creating!

What a complete tour of SF and the Alcatraz to line up all the scenes. I did that too in 2023. One comment is I think that the flower fountain and the bench in the Palace of Fine Arts scene were props. I could not find those in the exact location.

Thanks! You know, they had to be. I was looking at some scenes from Vertigo and I don’t think they exist there either. The cemetery would have been cool to visit but it may have been impossible to line anything up. Also, I’ll bet they used the actual suite at the hotel…if anyone has been up there to take photos.

I have never been to San Francisco, I know that it has many steep streets with hills, it is very difficult to walk around if you are walking up a street, it is very tiring to walk around San Francisco?

Good video!! Michael Bay's best movie without a doubt.
Were all the Alcatraz scenes shot on Alcatraz, including the tunnel scenes and so on, or in other locations?

Thanks! To my understanding most of the walking and talking scenes were shot at the prison and the final end scenes. Shooting scenes with explosions would have been a set and/or models and CGI.

Thanks for the video! I was just rewatching THE ROCK tonight and came upon this video 😊 so there’s no problem going into the lobby of the Fairmount hotel as a non-guest? I’ll be in San Francisco in a few weeks and wouldn’t mind checking out the area around Nob hill.

Oh, yeah, you’re welcome! I filmed this in April but it’s taken forever to get out because I have so many videos from my San Fran trip. Nob Hill is a doozy; especially from Union Square. We had literally just made the climb which is why I’m out of breath. If you turn around there are two more locations from another movie across the street. I’ll keep those under wraps for now. We were at the hotel around 4 PM during the middle of the week and it wasn’t very crowded. We weren’t bothered by the staff and we were kind of on the DL. If you walk around on another hallway they have an entire wall of movie and TV locations. Tony Bennett also first performed I Left My Heart in San Francisco in a room there. Enjoy the trip!
