My last office was in âDuncanâs Toy Chestâ aka The Rookery. Super historic building that you can also see in The Untouchables & Dark Knight đ
Chicago and New York very interchangeable for film.
Iâm from NYC but I think Chicago makes the best movie Gotham honestly!
What was the building called in Dark Knight bro?
Home Alone 1 and 2 is still a must watch every Christmas, love this one Jon
I'll need to rewatch the movie now after seeing this! My favorite scene was the woman slapping scene!
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łâđ»
Marv: I think she likes me
Hey Jon I liked that the first Home Alone movie was filmed in Winnetka, Illinois, but I like Home Alone 2 better. Watching Home Alone 2 when I was growing up made me dream of visiting and possibly living in NYC.
Did that to a lot of people
Both 1 and 2 are great, but 2 is just bigger and better!
Another great video. Home alone 2 is where my love for New York began. Me and my partner visited most of these places, he had it all planned out for my 30th birthday 2 weeks ago and New York was the most magical time. You really do live in the most magical city in the world. A trip we will never forget.
The Pigeon Lady (Brenda Fricker) lives here in Dublin on her own. Wonderful actress.
Hot take: Home Alone 2 is better than the original.
Noooooooooooo
@@dannysmith8093 mmmm no
The New York Christmas vibe was quite something but nothing beats the original Kevin vs Harry & Marv
Are you crazy đ€Ș
No
Christmas 2015 - Came from the UK.. 1st time in NYC.. did some Home Alone 2 spots... including cocktails at the plaza Hotel
Gave my (now) wife, a pair of turtle doves with the Home Alone music playing when we were drunk on Xmas eve (she cried).... proposed the next day in Central Park (she didn't cry đ).. but did say yes đ
Coming back on Sunday ... can't wait
5:40 âso good hoo hoo!â đ€Ł adorable
Nothing beats NYC decorated for the Christmas holiday! I remember Gimbels and Macyâs as a kid! The windows are iconic!
Crazy how much NYC has changed since then in 1992. Wow great video!
Hahaha great thumbnail :)
I try đ€Ł
Definitely the first Home Alone movie to the best! It's a classic Christmas movie. Watch it every year since childhood :)
If you love Home Alone 2 scroll up and smash that like button! Should I make more filming location videos in the future?
đ Want To Plan the BEST Holiday Trip Ever To NYC? Shop Our New Travel Guides Here: share.thatch.co/UZVa
Of course you should make more filming locations itâs so fun to watch on how it looked from then to today :)
Please do! I'd love to see the Spider-man movies locations!
Breakfast at Tiffanyâs (the park scenes)
Yeah!! Some super heroes movies like Avengers, Spider ManâŠ
yes, you should tours of where they filmed Highlander, Big, Joker
May Almighty bless you and your family
Much preferred Home Alone 2.đ... Thanks for showing us around the iconic scenes from the movie, Jon. Happy Christmas to you and Adriana.
Great video Jon! Home alone 2 takes what was great about the first and makes it even better
Agreed
@@HereBeBarr I agree too. But Home Alone 2 apparently scores lower on IMDB than number #1. But what do they know? XD
Either way, thank you for taking us to the World Trade Center site. It looks absolutely beautiful and massive.
â@@HereBeBarrdo you want a boyfriendđđđđđđđđđđ
Thank you so much for doing this!! So much fun! Home alone is so iconic and definitely made me want to be here in NY for Christmastime. I think theyâre both just as good as each other!!! I love the bit in Central Park with the fireworks đđ
Hey John, Great video, we were actually at a few of these spots just last week from the UK as the wife loves Home Alone 2. I watched a ton of your videos and they helped us massively on our trip. Keep it up dude!
Really love the WTC scene, since I was born a few years after 9/11. Gives me a peek into those times.
Love it! I was such a huge fan of Home Alone - loved both movies! Thanks for this awesome tour Jon!
The Plaza has had that "hotel and patrons only" rule for a few Christmas seasons now. Few years ago, made a reservation at one of the bars/restaurants and viola! access
Gotta chance to visit NYC in early December 2014, absolutely beautiful, FAO, Tribeca, etc Unfortunately it rained the night we visited Rockefeller Ctr but was still packed! I definitely wanna go back. So worth it!
I liked part 2 more simply because it was filmed in NYC, and I saw it well before I ever visited the city. I think it helped foster my love for the city even before I ever saw it in person.
Home alone 2 can never gets old this was n still is the best Christmas movie everrrr I watch it every Christmas season...đđđ
This is great. I actually left New York a few days ago. And saw the Rockerfeller Center tree. The whole lot you showed. I did the Home Alone bit as well. Went to the 230 5th rooftop as well
Jon, I still like watching Home Alone it is one of my favorite Christmas movies that never gets old. I prefer Home Alone 2 unlike the first one. But still enjoying watching both during the Holidays. The next stop to Rockefeller center when? Almost thirty years on Christmas Day no crowds at that time in my memories only one person enjoying the view of the tree.
Literally watching this RIGHT NOW and I wondered this- I have been to many of these locations... cant wait to see what you included...
Good video Jon! This was a really cool idea!! Like everyone else, I've always wanted to go to NYC around Christmas...mostly because of this movie. Thank you!!đ
Thank you so much for this, Iâve always wanted to go to New York since I was 10 watching home alone back in 1992 and finally this year on my 40th Iâll be going to New York!! Itâs a dream come true xx
Thanks Jon. We're hitting NYC next week and this has given me some great last minute ideas. đ»
Our boss flew several of us to NYC for the first time a few years back. He booked us at the Plaza. I believe we were in the same suite Kevin was in! It was a fun filled 3 days.
Been back a few times since. Can't wait to go back again. I love New York!!
I love the Plaza hotel! I think Home Alone 1 is more of a classic but the 2nd movie is not too off, not many movies where the 2nd one is as good as the first!!
When I see the ice rink I think of Serendipity (John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale) movie.
Time to rewatch the movie now, thanks Jon!
hahaha i wonder if this will boost rentals.
One of the rare movies where the second sequel is super great too
Touch wood Iâm actually flying to New York next weekend and a massive home alone 2 fan looking forward to it
This video is like a must-watch recap after watching Home Alone 2~! Thanks for filming the main places.! I watched the movie last night and I'm here along with your narration on Christmas.!đâ
That's what i was thinking to do đ
Was just in New York a couple of weeks back. What a magical place
I'm going to New York for this Christmas! Home Alone was definitely an inspiration for me.
Love this! A bit late, but so glad you reviewed everything. I love Home Alone 1 and 2.
I loved this video so much đ missing New York a lot right now. And my favorite is definitely home alone 2!
this movie and elf were the main reasons i wanted to visit new york! now that ive visited a few times i want to live there. Awesome video!
Home Alone and Home Alone 2 are still some of my all time fave Christmas movies! I do like Home Alone 2 better because of the New York theme. I still want to see Rockefeller Center someday and see that huge Christmas tree all lit up.
That's interesting how some of the locations in the movie weren't actually filmed in New York. When I first saw the movie I thought, wow, New York has some cool toy stores, not realizing that had been filmed in Chicago. Fao Schwartz sounds like a cool place to check out if I ever get the chance!
Great video!!! I'll be there in February, definitely putting Easy Paella on the list.
Thank you for doing this. I am going there next week
Great Video, love seeing these type of vids for places to visit from Movies. Gutted though, had to cancel our trip to NYC (due to travel in 2 days), due to Omicron and additional travel restrictions imposed by the UK. Planning to re-book for December 2022 though, everything crossed w eget back. Happy Holidays and have a great christmas.
One of my FAVORITE Christmas movies. Just watched it last night. Thanks for this!! đđđ
So interesting , fun to watch movie locations , thank you for the video xoxo
90s NYC was a very different vibe. Back then I went with my friend from California and went to Joes which was right on Bleeker. He referred to it as "Dollar pizza" because it was a dollar a slice. After Spiderman they got famous.
Thank you for this. I was just watching HA2. This brought back so many great memories of the movie!!
I leave for NYC next week! First time going and Im gonna spend Christmas over there! Iâm excited to see all the HA2 locations. Itâs my favorite Christmas movie.
Love Home Alone 2 better for sure! Christmas in NYC is always beautiful! đČ đ đ
home alone 2, loved the pranks he did on those wet bandits, it really captured Nyc so well for it feeling so creepy at night and the way its so crowded lol..
This was the video i was waiting for, thank youu
I watch home alone 1&2 a thousand times even i am now 61 yrs old. Specially i am lonely i always watch it. K started from vhs tapes to vcd to dvd to usb copies.
My favorite sense is Radio city music center store and Christmas store in Home Alone 2. I like Home Alone 1 and 2 because I like that boy being alone on Christmas having so much fun.
My Favorite scene is when Kevin just arrived in New York at la guardia and he say my family is in Florida and me in NY đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Brilliant idea!!
Thanks Jason
I'm too fn hyped to be arriving on the 16th of this month in NYC for the first time in my 35 years. Home Alone 2 along with Ghostbusters 1 and 2 are partly responsible for my infatuation with NYC.
At the Hilton hotel right now. Fly back to England tomorrow thank you for you vids made my N.Y visit the best.
Magic magic magic đ„°đ„°đ„° So much love for this movie and your video is fabulous. I have to watch it again now. Thank you Jon , love your work , keep the location films coming
đđ»đđ»đđ»đđ»đđ»
@@HereBeBarr yes, do an Elf on location :)
Thank you so much for all the tips I will be going to NYC in Jun 1-7 2022 and of course I will be wearing my mask. I will be doing all FREE thing and you have help me out a lot to locate what I needed to do for FREE.
Great content bro
Nicely done! I would not have guessed that 95th ave or street scene was shot in California or the Duncans toy chest was in Chicago!
Ez Paella is my favorite food place down there! The employees there are always so nice.
Just got back from NY and caught one of the last Rockettes show before they cancelled. We went to all of the Home Alone spots. You didn't mention Bethesda Terrace in Central Park in your video! That was a must see spot for me. We also went to Bleeker St Pizza and the food was fabulous. We talked to the owner a bit as we were visiting from Texas and he wanted to know how things were here with Covid. He thanked us for coming to his spot and my wife told him he had Jon Barr to thank for that. He showed us your picture at the front counter he had. Thanks so much for all of your NY videos!
I loved all the scenes from this video since I'm a New Yorker đđ and home alone is my all time favorite Christmas movie so cant choose between the two movies love both â€đŻđŻ had visited these places many many times...but still this video was awesome thanks and keep up the good work!!! đđđ€đ€
I enjoyed this video. I would love to see more of these types of videos for other famous New York based movies (like When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail, King of Staten Island, Manhattan, Ghostbusters etc.) Or maybe even a hodge podge of sites based on famous scenes in NY based movies. Anyways, I enjoy your videos and my list of things to see grows longer and longer and longer... LOL.
Oh, and I am one of the rare people who prefers Home Alone 2 more than Home Alone 1!
Booked flights to visit hopefully next year for the first time ever. Thanks for this and the many other vids you make for New York! Huge Home Alone fan so this is great but I'm an even bigger fan of Seinfeld. Can you do a video for Seinfeld locations in New York? Tom's Restaurant, Soup Man, Jerry's Apartment etc would be awesome to see what I'm hopefully going to see soon in real life. Cheers â
R.I.P WTC
I'm glad they still have the tridents in the museum. Beautiful tribute
Well done! Thanks for the video! ))
A trip down memory lane đ home alone films are brilliant đđ
I grew up on that movie - what a cool video, thank you!
I love that so much of New York has been captured on film and TV. Thanks for the tour Jon.
Great video and fitting for this time of year. I think it will also attract some new viewers and subs which you 100% deserve as this channel has amazing quality content!
Much appreciated!
Great and timely concept for a video. I'm staying overnight in midtown this week, will visit the Underground Market; I never knew that even existed!
Go get some epic Paella
I'm not going to New York during Christmas time but during the New Years. But Home Alone 2 was my first exposure to New York, and I have always wanted to go ever since I was a little kid.
Wait until the football sized rats chasing giant fly cockroaches run out in front of youđ€
Biggest fan of home alone 2 â€â€â€
Wish to be in newyork so that my eyes get the real view of this city!!!â€â€
My buddy Jay went to New York twice in the 90s to see the filming locations from the movies The Warriors and Goodfellas, his favourites, he also got pics of himself at other locations like Radio City and Rockefeller Center, there was no tree, it was summer.
This is awesome, love reliving it in 2021!
Thanks Ben!!
Top Of The Rock, Empire State Terraces and Top Of The World (WTC) were entire New York's 90's panorama.
Heading next week and will do my Home Alone 2 tour
so much nostalgia
Thank You for telling me about the One World Observatory -every time I watch the World Trade Center scene I wonder if I would have gone up there-now I can see what it would have been like!
Kevin owned NYC! Wasnt the toy store the old FAO Schwartz? I know its since moved to rockefeller ctr. Loved the PAELLA
Just modeled off FAO was Chicago
I loved them both, but part 2,because of NYC has a special place in my heart.
We would have had a whip round for your suite at the plaza!! Thanks for a great vid!
đź
Great Video for us home alone 2 fans
awesome video
Great idea for a video, super cool.
Im french and i watch your videos since 2 years i really love this video thank you this is such a good idea
I love your videos. I teach ESL and as a native New Yorker you help me show my students from around the world a little bit of their own culture and our fab city all the time. How big is your crew and what type of equipment do you use? I am definitely watching this movie again this weekend and now I have a few new places to add to the list. Thanks so much your vids have been really helpful, especially when we could not go out.
Maximum 1 camera man w me. Sometimes I film alone!
Great idea, Jon.
Nice! As for movie of course 1st one is the best. I remember most from first but not as much from others. As for Favorite in HA 2 brick scene - throw the camera⊠ok here it comes đ For Plaza hotel itâs always been like that. I managed to get shots pre COVID for IG but only after some attempts and guard telling me when to come back of hours. So that is really the trick and when come back off hours telling them that youâve been told that you can come back. Still get limited area to see but itâs totally worth it!
What a great idea for a video!
Thanks
Home alone 2 is the best. Going to New York in December for the first time and hoping to see many of these sights.
I liked both just the same amount. My favorite scĂšne, when he plays the videotape to get rid of the hotel concierge and security., including Cliff... IT'S A LIE!! đđ€Ł
Home alone 2 will always be iconic like NYC. đđ€
AWESOME VIDEO!!!
I went to the viewpoint on top of the World Trade Center plenty of times. You should go, it is a fantastic view. đ
