Liked and subscribed. I wasn’t aware of the inlay ring , very clever idea imo . I was going to go with Polar Helix till I seen your video

Yeah this inlaid ring is pretty great. I just made use of it for the solar eclipse and it really was a game changer!

Cool...you don't have to screw on the step-up ring? It just magnetizes itself on? Not mine...

There are different versions; magnetic and threaded. The one I’m showing here is magnetic without threads.

Is that the 77-95mm step up adaptor you have? No information on Kase's website on which one I need, considering they suggested me to get 95mm filters for my 82mm lens thread.

Yes, that’s the 77-95mm magnetic step up. I have the 95mm set because my most used and largest lens has 95mm thread. That size can be a big large on smaller lenses, but I like to have the largest size filters that I can adapt to smaller lenses. That’s definitely better than buying and carrying multiple filter sets 😉

What exactly is the advantage of the inlaid ring compared to conventional magnetic mount rings?

The biggest thing is it’s one less layer of depth that helps reduce any potential vignetting. You can also use in on the front of an existing filter allowing you to stack magnetic filters on top of it.

Hi, on the 10 stop 77mm ND filter says "Kase KW Revolution magnetic ND 1000 77mm CF23" on the ring. What does CF23 mean? Thanks

I've been trying to see what the difference is between the K9 and the Armour. Videos on CZcams are useless. Any help?
I want to be able to put on a POL and NDs, like this, but also have the option to put on the square filters for when i need a grad. I won't be using grads that often, but want to have the option for when i do

I'm not 100% sure about this, but let me reach out and get an answer for you.

From Kase: “The answer to this question is Armour is an upgraded version of the K9 system. We are slowly stopping the manufacturing of the K9 already. The main differences between the two are: 1) The Armour system allows the installation of rectangular filters magnetically, 2) You can install two circular filters (ex. a POL+a ND) with the Armour holder, but the K9 only allows one.” Hope this helps.

I understand that a lot of people buy the step up adapter and larger filters to avoid vignetting. But I don’t understand how the step up adapter itself doesn’t cause vignetting. Doesn’t it?

I would've said its more of a problem if you're going to stack your filters, then you'll have more problem with a vignetting. Maybe just one filter you'll get away with it.

@timmieboy37 I ended up buying just one filter which came with a standard adapter ring and I also bought the inlaid adapter ring. With one filter and either adapter ring on a 16-36mm lens, there was no vignetting at 16mm. The adapter ring is very thin and as a result, mine was slightly warped. But I was still able to get it on my lens.

Even at 15mm I haven't seen any vignetting caused by the step up ring since it's so thin. I'm sure it's possible on some lenses, but unlikely. Even better is the inlaid ring since you're only adding one layer (the filter) in front of the lens.
