- When I first started my CZcams channel, the very first video I ever uploaded was a guitar cover of "Crossing the Rubicon" by The Human Abstract.
Since technology has advanced slightly since 2007, I thought it would be fun to redo the cover, and do it much better.
So, posted on the exact same day, exactly 15 years later, I bring you the modernized version of my cover. I hope you enjoy!!

That verse riff has to be one of the most fun riffs I've ever learned.
This song holds such a special place in my life. My closest friend in middle and high school was a guitar player and showed me this album and it was his favorite thing ever, which ended up really getting me into music and metal that I love so much. We used to sit in the back of class sharing headphones watching youtube videos of guitar players covering various THA songs and we always argued about what the best THA song was. I always flip flopped between Nocturne, Channel Detritus, and Vela; but he always, always argued and said Crossing the Rubicon was the best track. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago in a terrible way. I know this is weird and sorry for the sob story, I just felt like sharing it because every time I hear this track I think about him and all the teenage years we spent together. Him trying to always get me to learn to sing or drums or teach me guitar. Just takes me back and makes me feel like a part of him is still here. I'm so sure back in 2007/2008 we were sitting in back of math class watching your original cover and he was nerding out about it, because we watched every cover on youtube back in those days.

Thanks so much! The main reason I did Crossing the Rubicon was because it was the first cover I ever put on my CZcams, which was 15 years earlier (the video you can see playing in the background). I’d love to eventually do more though!

Yes! I exported a rough midi from a guitar pro file and then edited it/corrected it from there in my daw
