It’s funny because she constantly uses her oath as an excuse why she and Esbern won’t help because of ol’ Paarth. From what we’ve heard in previous games there is nothing in the oath as a blade that says that, and as she refuses to help the Dragonborn she is breaking her oath. The blades are honor bound to serve the Dragonborn that is what their order is for. Her ego and pride and lust for revenge clouds her loyalty. If she was a true Blade she would be duty bound to listen to you if she refused your order you could strip her of her title of blade. And I doubt she'd foolishly try to kill any dragon on her own. DB: **Very long enough inhale** “Delphine…before I even met you, you were pouring drinks in a little village where you’re only two patrons are the town drunk and some kid and his dog.
You know what I was doing? Driving my claymore into the chest of a dragon and absorbing its soul, before even that I was burning bandit camps to the ground for fun!
When you dragged me down to your little basement, I had already found a set of Dwemer armor, had learned several spells and had mastered the art of smashing skulls in with a war hammer, and you thought it smart to threaten me? You should be praising Stendaar above every day that I have the patience to tolerate your presence!
For the duration of all the time I’ve known you, you’ve told me about your mission to find the Dragonborn, and your first instinct to test if my claims were true, was to send me against a dragon? You must’ve had Zenithar on your side when it came to me, because just because I’m Dragonborn doesn’t ensure I’m a skilled dragon slayer, just look at the last few members of the Septim dynasty!
Honestly, I could forgive that, given your lack of knowledge and practical thinking, you have been living in a little village surrounded by nords and likely developed some form of alcoholism to cope with being surrounded by so many hamlet dwellers, but the fact that I slew a dragon right in front of you, leached it’s soul from it’s still steaming bones and took said bones as a prize and that your first way to address me as Dragonborn is to send me into the gods damned Thalmor embassy, without backup and all because you “Had a feeling they’re involved.”?
And when I, unsurprisingly I might add, returned with zero information on the dragons involvement with the knife eared pricks, your next plan is to send me alone into the sewers of Riften to find a semi-deaf, senile old man? Granted Esbern is LEAGUES more bearable then you, but for Mara’s sake woman! You should be bowing at my feet and taking orders from me, I am your gods chosen heir to the Ruby Throne, and instead of hiring a massive mercenary army to escort me to Solitude, introduce me as the last of Alessia’s blood to Tulius, whom would have likely carter me off to the Imperial City to be presented to the Elder council and trialed me to determine the legitimacy of my blood and eventually see the Crown bestowed upon my brow, you instead have me wading through moss and shit covered canals to find an old man, with the thalmor hot on my heels I might add.
And then there was Sky Haven…dear Kynerath what a natural looking fort that is so well preserved and with such a scenic view of the Reach, and the only key to the sole door is my very blood. That is true privilege to have a solitary fortress that’s only purpose is to act as a haven for those of my blood and their loyal defenders…and yet you strut about the place as if it’s yours to claim by seniority? Have you any inkling of how insignificant you are in the grand tale we are weaving here? Of course not, because to you I’m not even the Dragonborn, I’m an asset you can use as you see fit and then childishly scold when I finally say no to you.
You’re so eager to have some semblance of importance that you invited yourself to the High Hrothgar peace summit for what? To make demands? You’re a wanted fugitive by the Thalmor, the Empire no longer recognizes the Blades as an organization and Ulfric is too obsessed with making Skyrim an Nordic ethno-state to care.
You basically made years of hiding and running completely void by showing yourself to the thalmor, and put Esbern, a frail old man who can barely hold a sword, in the Thalmor spotlight after he went to extremes to hide from their wrath.
And after all that, all the nagging, threatening, idiotic plans and blatant disregard for my potential status as a return to the Dragonborn dynasties and lack of basic self awareness in your actions, you DARE tell me to kill a dragon whom has gone above and beyond to fight against his nature for uncounted centuries for the benefit of mortal kind, simply because of the mistakes he made in the past?
Get out of my temple Delphine, as Dragonborn I banish you from this place, and deny you any reprieve. I’ve no need for an overly ambitious sycophant who puts her own gains before the safety and well being of others and blatantly jeopardizes the last hope of Nirn to peruse her own selfish goals.”

@@gabrielefried3853 I think the mistake that many make is to think that the blades exist to serve the dragonborns; The main purpose of the blades is to hunt dragons, and their oath to the dragonborns is tied to this purpose.
The blades originally come from another continent: Akavir. And they are an order of dragon hunters. When they cross to the continent of Tamriel and meet Reman I, they join him, because they hear THE VOICE: the ultimate weapon for hunting dragons. They never stop hunting dragons, even when they join the emperor.
So Delphine is correct. It is part of the original oath of the blades to hunt dragons, especially those more dangerous, such as Paarthurnax, who was Alduin's right arm and committed horrors analogous to what the Nazis did.
In fact, when one realizes that Paarthurnax is basically an immortal ex-Nazi, with an infinite amount of lethal weaponry, that everyday feels the temptation to return to being a Nazi ... then one begins to understand why Delphine is right.

Parthernax is capable of the one thing Delphine isn’t, and that’s change.
She’d rather order the gods chosen Dragonborn around when the last of her ancestors were bodyguards of the Dragonborn centuries after they stopped hunting down dragons, the fact Delphine can’t adapt to how the world works around her and offer no reprieve to Parthernax not only makes her an idiot, but a racially charged idiot.

      @jmdb7895 Před 3 lety +21

@@undulycriticalobserver2510 Everything you mentioned is a straw man fallacy. Delphine doesn't think that.
Her point is that Paarthurnax is not innocent, as he committed heinous crimes. And in the present, he represents a latent threat to the future. In fact, it is a matter of hard math to understand:
If the probability that an event (X) occurs is greater than 0%, and you have infinite time for the event to occur, then it is a fact that sooner or later, that event will occur.
That is true in Paarthurnax. He himself says that every day he feels the need to be evil again (probability greater than 0% of becoming evil due to constant temptation) and also, he is immortal, so he has plenty of time for his innate nature take control again. That is an incontestable mathematical fact: no matter how small the percentage is (for example: 0.000000000000001%), as long as the probability is greater than 0% and you have enough time, the event will occur.

    • @jmdb7895
      @jmdb7895 Před 3 lety +14

So her argument is rock solid. Paarthurnax must die because:
[1] She took an oath to protect humanity from the most dangerous dragons.
[2] Paarthurnax has given evidence of being, after Alduin, the most dangerous dragon (he was second in command before deserting, and as with all dragons, his name describes his CHARACTER as dragon: "Ambition Overlord Cruelty" ). His past crimes have not been repaired.
[3] Leaving him alive supposes that he, yes or yes, in the future, will try to dominate human beings. And the problem is that the only one capable of stopping him is the dragonborn, who unlike Paarthurnax, is not immortal. Therefore, the low probability that Paarthurnax will turn bad again IS NOT an argument in favor of letting him live, it is an argument against it, because that means that when hee returns to his old ways, the dragonborn will be dead.

When you have the friendship of every Jarl in Skyrim, a veritable army of housecarls, mercenaries and allies made across the land, and command up to five guilds - legendary present or past werewolf mercenaries, the greatest Masters of each school of magic in Skyrim, a clan of vampires or an order dedicated to fighting them, and assassins (and also the thieves) that can infiltrate, sabotage, and likely assassinate or capture key figures. Also a host of strong weapons and armours, potentially the orc strongholds, and so on. The Dragonborn _has_ an army. A small one, but at the very least, they’re one to be reckoned with.

Decided to create a short story where the Dragonborn basically tells Delphine to go to Oblivion while all of the initiates are watching. 'Whom' which have sworn an oath to 'serve the dragonborn'. Dragonborn basically tells Delphine 'yeah, that isn't going to happen. Suppose this means I'm done here, oh and... don't expect me to ever come back.' The Dragonborn then leaves Delphine standing there, the initiates decide that following the Dragonborn isn't against their oath. So they leave and join the Dragonborn to create a new group known as the Dragonblades. Forcing Delphine to return to her life at the inn.... only to discover that the Dragonborn is now providing financial support as a business partner to Orgnar. Meaning that the Dragonborn now officially owns the Sleeping Giant Inn and Delphine is left with only one choice. Be a tavernmaid.

Delphine: “We have nothing to say until Paarthunax is dead.”
Me: “CLEAR SKIES SHOUT within High Hrothgar, claiming the attention of the council before they leave”
Everyone…sit back down at once. …
Now, I was able to tolerate all your shit from all of you. But what that blonde stank faced biotch over there just told me? Was the straw on the mammoth’s back.
You will all hold this truce, forever. Because when I, and I alone, handle this dragon situation, Skyrim is going to change. With one breath, I can annihilate all of you and not have a moment of remorse. I can personally level all of Skyrim with only the breath in my lungs, So, heed my words carefully.
Tulius, you will send word to the Empire immediately. As you know, the Emperor was found dead on his ship, so the position is vacant. Notify the council that I, the last blood of Alessia can claim the throne by birthright, and the fact that I can rip all who oppose me with a single word, let alone three, further validates my claim.
However, I will choose not to, provided the White-Gold concordant is abolished and the Thalmor are warned of my power. The feud between mer and men shall never arise again, and the worship of Talos will be decriminalized. It holds no harm to worship him, and the other 8 are selectively ignored every day anyway. If the Thalmor do not accept these terms, then proceed to tell them this…
    *turns to Ulfric*
This racist, regicidal lunatic is a Thalmor sleeper agent (tosses the dossier at Tulius). His claims and mission are nothing but a fabrication. Once the Empire is driven from Skyrim, the Thalmor would activate him and the Thalmor will be able to take Skyrim without resistance. As they grow and throttle the resources from the lands to the Empire, the Thalmor can overwhelm Cyrodil and take over.
This, is not going to happen. *Turns to Elenwyn.* Tell your people you have been discovered. I offer you the chance for peace, and you had better take it. If you set a toe out of line towards war, I will personally call an army of dragons to my side and raze the Thalmor lands.
Ulfric, back to you. You are a disgusting racist. You will step down and leave Skyrim tonight. Skyrim was conquered by Nords, and you must allow the lands to be shared. You have no claim to all of Skyrim by your race. Nords drove away the Snow Elves and stole the lands of the Foresworn. The damage of the Nords will not be perpetuated, and Skyrim will belong to everyone and will be free to worship as they please.
*Turning to the High Queen Elisyf.* Lady, you never tried to manage me, and for that, you shall be left unscathed. Lead Skyrim and the jarls with fairness and Justice, and all will be good. Remember to believe in the strength of Skyrim’s people, and understand the guidelines of the Empire.
And finally…*turning to Delphine* This bitch who has sat idly by and barked orders at ME, as someone who is supposed to be loyal to me, has given me an ultimatum. Kill a dragon who has given me more information and aide to me, and value to all of Nirn, than she ever did or could; or never lead the Blades again, while running things in a sanctuary that MY BLOOD opened…
You DARE to tell me what to do after what I have accomplished? Enough is enough. You and all your zealots are not Blades. You are fanatics of a dead organization. The Blades are over, and you will direct your efforts to rebuilding Skyrim from this stupid war. If you cannot aide in reuniting the people of this land to a better future, then you are of no worth to me or anyone else.
I will not kill anyone on ANY of your behest ever again. As long as there is life in my body, I shall never turn power back to you fools.

Meanwhile, Delphine literally decided the best way to meet you was to first steal a priceless artifact, thereby putting a massive detour into your quest of proper training, then claims to serve you while ordering you around and being the most useless piece on the chessboard. She never kills anything, and the only knowledge she does provide is the order of dragon's mounds being visited to let you (note: Not Delphine. She doesn't do anything. She just watches Alduin attack a town.) save Kynesgrove and confirm that it's actually Alduin and not some random dragon.
