      I purchased a 2015 328i BMW from Carvana and drove it about 6 hours from the Carvana vending machine in Texas to New Orleans and it sent a Drive Train Malfunction and shut down in the middle of the Interstate. BMW assist had it towed to the local BMW dealer and I decided to not keep the car. Carvana also gave me a dummy key fob that did not go with the car nor did it have the emergency manuel key inside the fob. Very disappointed! I saved for a year to purchase that car.

    You are spot on explaining the differences my friend. The only ses lights I had on my E92 08 335i was the rear o2 senor bank 2 and a misfire due to leaky injector fouling the spark plug and the only cel light I had was a bad crankshaft position sensor. Also gave me the reduced power message "Limp mode" . I too have used a BM scanner and was able to resolve all of these issues except the leaky injector that should be soon hopefully.

    for future reference if you have a proper scan tool you can actually see how many time the fault codes was triggered....some codes that disappear once cleared only mean they are not active at the time....for preventive maintenance its normally good to look into those codes to avoid actual component failure...for example a loose connector can trigger a host of codes, which if not addressed can cause actual harm to the relevant components....this way you can plan when to actually address a problem rather than waiting for it actually breaks down

    I had some coils and plugs go out because service spilled couple drops of oil on #2 and #3 which leaked under the coil boot. I buy the stuff and they do the labor for $20 so can't complain. Well anyway changed them out, cleared codes using MHD then put gas, restarted and light went off (light was on when driving to put gas). Samething when I replaced a dead battery. The steering wheel lock light and battery light were on after replacing until I put gas and restarted it. That was over a year ago and nothing since.

    I think if you put in lower fuel grades it could trigger the Check engine light because my previous car was a flex fuel and when I put in the regular fuel in emergency situations the check engine light would come on. So I am thinking it's the same for other vehicles too. BMW requires Supreme fuel, so if your placing any other fuel into it, this may also trigger the check engine light. Any thoughts or comments on this?

This light goes away on its own.

    Hello, I like you channel and it is very informative, I just bought a used 07 e92 335i 6 speed and I need to replace the battery. Now I have a good scan tool, The Schwaben BMW/Mini scanner by Foxwell. It has saved me countless times and paid for itself many times over. It has a section for "coding" the battery to the car. but since I am upgrading to a new AGM style I have to "register" the battery and this is where I come into my issue. Can I register a battery with my scan tool or do you think I need the Technichs Kit you talk about? Thanks

    • @maxnix346
      @maxnix346 Před 5 lety

      Just hook up your tool and see what it can do. If the battery has the same A rating, them all that is needed is to tell the car it is new. If it is a different rating, then check that your tool can register that new value correctly. BMWFanatic has an excellent video on this topic.

I pulled the left and right tight tail lights out but on the left side when i turn on my headlights the left side break lights also turn on but they are dim. I checked the plug and there was low voltage so am guessing it is not the bulb housing. If you have any advice I would really appreciate it. Thank you

    • @Tenzaromon
      @Tenzaromon Před 6 lety

      Usually the fast blinking turn indicator is a display of a dead bulb, however in your case the bulbs are working just fine. The voltage on the other hand being low is more than likely triggering the indicator and causing your symptoms. I'd personally run a battery check and alternator check to be safe. Depending on which alternator you have it might also be a sign of the voltage regulator starting to fail. Luckily most shops can do free testing on both to make sure the voltages coming out from the terminals and alternator are fine. If it's not those it might be something more serious.

You said "...translating a service engine soon light to a check engine soon light now the service engine soon light will light up as far as you have that issue now that issue gets even worse or a certain parameter is crossed you're going to trigger a CELL(?) just a check engine light and that's when it's kinda like alright you have a major problem because a majority of the time the SES lights are just very basic stuff it's not really anything crazy of course limp mode over boost under boost all that kinda stuff all that major kind of codes those are going to be check engine lights so you want to definitely check those and obviously you know go ahead and and fix those issues right away....."

    I usually clear the codes once, and if it comes back then I take care of it. If not I ignore it, such things as the oil level and coolant sensor if they light up, check your fluid levels and if they are lower than before, do not let it get worse. Don't assume it's a "bad sensor". Although, the other day my flat tire thing went up on my I-Drive, pulled over. Tires were fine, it was caused by one tire hitting a bump and rotating at a different speed due to the wheel-speed sensor sensing the difference which can trigger a false flag. Every couple of months my steering angle sensor freaks out, it's not a constant thing so I ignore it until it becomes a permanent issue. These cars have a certain pattern and once you recognize that pattern you'll know what's real and what's a false flag. I currently have a 2004 BMW 530i e60. Looking to get an e92 335i. Gonna have aftermarket warranty coverage by endurance for that thing. Also, how has your 335i been overall and I'm looking to tune it, what's a good first step?

      El Chucho BMWs tend to do a lot of wacky shit when the battery goes low or is improperly connected. I have a E46 330i and one day the dashboard cluster was going out of wack and the brake lights were on when the car was off and in park. Replaced the battery and ensured tight connections and it has not given any problems since. BMWs are essentially computers so any fluctuation of electrical power will cause odd events to occur. Hope this helps

    Recently my check engine light displayed (solid yellow light) on my BMW 2016 X1.
    After driving for a day or two it went off on its own. But then came back again. So I took it to a local mechanic and he informed me the DTC code causing the Check Engine light is D1249.
    He then noted this is some type of generic BMW code with no other available details and that only a dealer could clarify what the code means. Obviously I would like to avoid doing this if possible.
    Does anyone know what a D1249 check engine code mean?

    For bmw new owners this lights are terrible since we think that the engine will explode if you continue the journey. I've just bought a 335, 2008, and at this moment I stopped the trip since appeal in the Paine aa small engine light. No big, in the middle of panel. As I dont know what this means I decided to stop in order to avoid serious damages. I call to my mechanic and he said to let the off for a minutes that probably the light went off, since no appear the message of redudec power and no message of faults. Let's see

    Erase the codes and then erase it from the history too, otherwise I've seen some codes reappearing.

    So, basically when you buy a bmv, you have to become a mechanic? This sucks.

    That's a lie apparently doesn't like his thumbs.
    Sales floor BMW car lot dealership guy.
    Check code you do diagnostics first if they can. Then see if it shows up there if not then shows 100 miles down road could mean something faulty in wireing or how to use car as somethings can't be done while moving. Most are done at vehicle that stopped.
    As driving any car is illegal on any roads as paperwork, for car in rules and laws a regulation were never allowed.
    So DMV is not legal.
    Department of transportation is not legal just like currency can not be policed or trailed unless your at highest level in clearance as well as "Heir or King".

    Im so glad to have bought a 2020 toyota corolla i go to school in mecanics and a few guys have BMW's Its looks good ride nice but its useless other than doing backfire and launch control the quickest they can.. They all ended having problems within 3 months.. One has his cooling pump explode and leaking cost him about 1500$ to change on a 335i 2009 LMAO... another guy had a firing problem or some sort and the other had to change his 4 camsensor they all busted... Ill never ever buy a bmw or mercedez shit is overpriced for what it is.. Its my second japenese car.. We all laughed when i got my toyota.. Felt like i should be ashamed to buy a non performanxe or racing car.... Im still laughing to this day but alone man.. I love my toyota!! Oh and they all spent near 8-10k for a 10 years old car.... That didnt even last 6 months without a pricy $$$ repair.... Talk about a deal.. Ill keep my toyota with me for sure and if i had to spend 50-60k on a brand new car i would take 2 toyotas without hesitation and give one to a poor bwm owner... Trust me i saw their pain and sadness

    These cars are overrated and cost more money then they're worth. BMW are far too technical and needs to be more simple. Never get a BMTrouble U
