- The incredibly opportunity to pilot the fireworks barge for St. Petersburg, FL on the 4th of July came my way. So I hopped aboard as we shot a few thousand shells off the barge while we were still aboard, just a few feet away.

Uncontrollable laughter when there's nothing funny..... is hysteria. Trip was hysterical for 20 minutes except a few serious moments putting out the fire....

My ex brother in law asked me to help him with a fireworks display in Savannah GA for a gated community. Everything was hand light. The Grand finally was a 500 shot string. Not as big as the one you did but we were shooting 6" down to 2". Red yellow and green fuse. You touch a red fuse and the mortar is coming out of the tube before you can react. Best money I ever made in my life!
That's awesome! Hand lighting would have been more fun, but still pretty cool just to be that close....

Haven't gone to it in years. Cool you got to be part of this. The Johns Pass show was always my favorite one, but after a failed launch and lots of explosions and injuries about 20 years ago they stopped doing it.

Super interesting video! What did they do with any shells that didn't fire after the show?
We pull them and package them in 1.3G boxes and they are shipped back to the fireworks company. Some cities will let the crew fire the unfired shells. It depends on the Authority having Jurisdiction.

Gosh, for someone who seems to love the environment your last two shows here surprise me. You obviously haven't thought about the really negative impacts of fireworks on the marine environment. The heavy metals and toxins are terrible let alone it scares the ever loving crap out of every animal around, including veteran's of war. Why do you think shows are being phased out for drones. You really need to start thinking about your carbon footprint and what you're leaving behind instead of a few min of laughter. We all do.
