  • David Archuleta got tearful on stage during the final show of his The More the Merrier Christmas Tour on December 23, in Chandler, Arizona. He opened up about living in the closet, having a faith crisis, being engaged three times, and when he considered ending it all (TW).
    "I didn't want to be bad and I was feeling like I was a bad person just for even being."

    You broke me on this. I can remember reading something my son wrote in his teens, about why he was like this and what had he ever done wrong to God. You were not bad. You can still be you & have God in your life if you want. You are enough and always will be. This is why my son doesn’t have anything to do with religion.❤️🌹

      God wants us all to turn away from sin and follow Him and He will do the changing in us but we have to be willing.

      @@tjc1121 He is not sinning. And he was willing. For years. Is he supposed to wait his entire life until he dies to be able to live his life? That’s not the loving God I believe in. Look at all the trauma people suffer from being told they don’t believe enough, have enough faith, that somehow it was their fault change didn’t happen. This is why people turn away from religion. If you think stating that help bring people to God, you are very wrong. He is the way God made him. There is nothing wrong with him. But there is something wrong with people who believe as you do. Maybe God created him to teach you how to be a better Christen. It’s beliefs like yours that can/does cause suicide.

      @georgiadavis670 you are looking at this life which is temporal but not where his soul will go for all eternity. Jesus is called the Savior of the World for a reason. He came to save us from the consequence of our sin which is separation from a Holy God. This place is a place of torment and us called hell. There are many people in this place who would give anything to have someone warn them and wish they had listened. The loving thing to do is too warn people about where they are heading so that they can turn away from it.

    • @georgiadavis670
      @georgiadavis670 Před 3 měsíci +2

      @@tjc1121 It is not a loving thing to do. I know of no one who is gay who thinks, thank God someone told me what they perceive is wrong. Maybe if you’re informing someone who is not aware of God. But David is well aware of God. Christians over & over stating something is wrong in their belief is not informing, helpful or welcoming. It’s hurtful. It causes trauma. Would you want to hear over & over about a perceived wrong? It becomes abusive. It is not helpful. It is 100% driving people away from God. It is not a choice. He is made that way and I don’t know how much clearer people can be in telling all the damage it does. Leave them alone. Gay people don’t go to hell. It’s only religious belief based on a book that as such can have many interpretations. There are going to be alot of very surprised people who find out “ their” belief wasn’t right.

    David never allow others to change who you are. For those that don't accept you are not supposed to be in your life. Accepting yourself and being yourself will bring those that you deserve in life who will accept you. Your an amazing person full of talent, full of love, and you bring joy to us in your singing. Stay who you are David, because we do love you the way you are.

    I was there, near front and center, AWESOME CONCERT! David is an excellent performer and a inspiring person. His music has meant alot to me, and carried me through some intense dark times...
    This was his 2nd Christmas Concert I have attended in Chandler, I was literally 1st row and center the first year (2021). His manager actually took a photo I brought with me and had him sign it. it's among my most treasured things, along with a signed copy of his book "CHORDS of STRENGTH" and a signed poster from this concert, and of course every CD he has released except "Forevermore" which is impossible to find due to its rarity. i also like his DVD with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir "Glad Christmas Tidings" I would love to see him perform "The Cat and the Mouse Carol", if he returns to perform at the Chandler Center for the Arts again this year. My biggest regret was missing the opportunity to be at the "meet & greet" before the show. I wish I could shake his hand and tell him what his music and message has meant to me!

David is an example of an authentic and talented individual who bears his soul to those who will listen to his journey. We can all learn from one another - especially those who may seem too different to deserve our attention, connection and friendships. What would the world be without the diversity of all of us??? Since I couldn't stop the addiction, I thought I could end it by killing myself rather than to remain here and being "bad". So touching. Thank God David landed on his feet and learned to love himself and that God loves him unconditionally. Love never fails. Prayers.

    David,
    Thank you again for taking some time to share your experience with romantic endeavors where certain compatibilities (orientation and others), contributed to your experience and growth as a person. Thank you for showcasing the internal struggle and thank you for playing a few notes to help us understand that even emotionally it is a tender thing to talk about. As for myself, perhaps similar to you, my crisis of faith was in high school 04-08. Differently from your situation, I managed to spend the first semester of my freshman year in the hospital following emergency heart surgery to replace my aortic arch (a long story). I was mainly catching up on homework, trying to graduate with my class, my family had a strong religious background in the LDS church as well, I was still recovering physically exempt from contact sports and working through the psychological damage of two traumatic brain injuries from the same accident that required heart surgery. I didn't date much, I knew I was gay, and it never really felt honest to date women. My former step sibling was homophobic and so was the religion as the time. After I watched the movie 300, it was like a confirmation light bulb turned on and I hated it. Despite being "a miracle" and "your here for a reason", it took me ten years until 2014 for me to spiritually exhaust the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Friend, the Ensign, and MANY HOURS OF EXTENSIVE RESEARCH into people coming out -- the "It Gets Better Campaign" was a beacon of hope as was other Gay CZcamsrs ~Nick A Laws (sorry about the Lush reference), etc. I finally went to university, and met some people that brought infinitely more compassion and understanding to my life than I had ever known, but there was also a lot of challenges, being approached by someone looking to do adult things with another inexperienced freshly out gay guy with severe physical and religious traumas. The fledgling experience I had in university most people have in their teens. It was a rather dark time for me... I was also rather preoccupied with leadership positions in the student organization I was assisting with -- I met someone who needed an obvious hug, it was the Pulse Memorial, and I spent two years dating this man until we decided to get married in my grandparents living room. I may not have had three engagements, but I am getting a divorce for reasons beyond the scope of this comment; however, I believe that love languages and communication are essential tools for finding compatibility. Best wishes David, someday I hope you find the relationship you are looking for.

    David is such a genuine and positive person who dedicated his life to the church. Too bad the church couldn't be there when he needed them most. I hope the church changes its position as so many struggle with faith and this issue which is not a choice. No one would choose this difficult path. Imagine losing him over this. Go David go. Be yourself, think positive, give to others, never give up. In a confused and troubled world, we need you. 😊 dont judge if you haven worn those shoes.

David, use your talent and be very, very grateful for the success you have already achieved. But do not expect the rest of the world to agree with you, ALL of the time. Because it will never happen. Oh please, you don’t know or care about this man or else you’d know just how intertwined his personal life has become with his music. He nearly lost the ability to speak or sing at all after a vocal cord hemorrhage early 2022. Him being able to speak and sing at all is incredible. Fans would respect and allow him that space to congregate and let him speak to us. He’s not a big star and many of us have been around for well over a decade now.

    • @Slicksterzz
      @Slicksterzz Před rokem +9

      If he were straight and had a wife and kids, would you want him to just shut up and sing if he wanted to talk about his life with his family? If he wanted to talk about his faith and how it led him to be the man that he is, should he just save it for church? If you only want an artist's music and don't want to know about their lives, buy the record and leave the shows for the people who want a connection with the person. He's sharing himself with his audience, if you don't want that then STFU and go away.
