Welcome back! These Japanese groups always pay proper respect to the great old bands, but honestly they've surpassed the masters. When Maiden did this in the 80's, they and Metallica and a few others were the pinnacle of technical insanity. Bands like Nemophila and Lovebites nail this stuff and make it look like child's play-they laugh and goof around with each other while they shred. Every field progresses over time-medicine, technology, aeronautics…why not metal? We live in great times!
Its easier to copy than it is to create. Don't get me wrong these bands are amazing but you gotta understand these masters were doing something brand new and never heard before. There was no guarantee the music would take off and you had a lot of misconception and "hate" from parents and the even the government, calling it devil music and cancer to society. Also most of them barely made enough to survive, let alone keep up on equipment. Think about having to dial in your sound with trial and error experimenting with different amp and pedal settings. It wasn't easy like now where pretty much any sound you want can be modeled. Again don't get me wrong. I love the way these kids are into the old school metal and the way they are keeping it alive. I just want us to remember in order to progress you need something original to progress from. Lets still recognize the work OGs put in.

I'm a fan of the classic bands like Purple and Zeppelin, yet its also clear that there are dozens of guitarists, for example, who have surpassed the technical skills of Blackmore and Page. Blackmore's solo on Highway Star will always stand as the Mt. Rushmore of metal solos, but dozens of youtube shredders can play it now. You are right, a big part of being a pioneer was just the struggle to keep going in the face of hate and misunderstanding. In that regard, let's remember that here in the U.S., there is still a lot of resistance and even hate directed at women who play loud music. Every generation has its barriers to deal with.

I think that the members can play with a smile because they can afford it both technically and mentally. They are people who have made a name for themselves in the Japanese hard rock world for almost 10 years.

I am rather late to the Nemophila party and have 'marathon' watched your reactions to them. Apart from everything you said, I find it incredible how well Mayu, sings in English. From my understanding only one of the Nemophila lady's has a reasonable command of the English language. Thank you for all your reactions to Nemophila. There are more songs for you, when you are ready. 😄
If what I read is correct these ladies did this as a side project. But from what I understand is that it turned out so good, they chose make it a permanent venture.
