  • In this video I introduce my two new Cardiocrinum giganteum plants (giant Himalayan lily). These lilies are the tallest species of lily in the world growing up to 3.5m in height. Although tropical in appearance they are frost hardy and should grow well in my cool Scottish summers. In this video I talk about the growing requirements of Cardiocrinum giganteum and how I will be growing them in my garden and my parents garden.
Update video when its in full bloom: • My Giant Lily Is Flowe...

I'm in north east of england near the coast. I bought a bulb from Harrogate flower show and will use your advice. Thanks , Carole

It should do well in your climate, make sure it kept well watered in dry spells. One of my bulbs flowered a year after this video.

They look amazing when in full bloom, no other lily can compare when it comes to scale, you can often find them flowering at botanic gardens, Edinburgh botanics in particular have a lot of them. They should do well in your climate, make sure its a sheltered spot with a little shade from the midday sun.

I live in The Faroe Islands 🇫🇴 This sounds like a great plant for my garden. Thanks 👍

Yes your climate should be good for this plant, just make sure you give it some shade and shelter from the wind, I imagine the Faroe islands must be very windy. Meconopsis poppies, lupins and Aquilegia should also grow well where you are.

I wonder if it is a slightly different variety or different species. This one is usually found in the more mountainous areas of India and countries around the Himalayas and likes a cool climates.
