  • Ford 'Barra' six is one of the toughest inline six cylinders in the world. No wonder that they stuck one in a light car like this Ford Cortina. Subscribe to Street Machine for V8-powered good times goo.gl/DTXEnl

I'm from the US, and I've been a Ford guy since the 80s. But I was unaware of a 4L Ford straight 6 engine that, apparently at one point came stock with 420hp, but is capable of handling 21lbs of boost and 1100hp! That's pretty awesome obviously. Here in America in the late 70s and 80s, Ford put a turbo 2.3L inline 4cyl engine(Lima engine) into Mustangs, Mercury Capri, Thunderbird turbo coupe, and the short lived Merkur XR4-Ti. These little Lima 2.3L engines are apparently able to handle a LOT of horsepower and torque. I read an article about 15+ years ago about a guy who got paid to build econo-racer cars using the 2.3l engine. He would use either an early Fox body mustang, a Pinto, mid 70s Mustang II etc, for low weight, and he would minimally build up a high boost turbo 2.3l with aftermarket turbo and parts, and youd end up with a low to mid 10 second street/strip car with a 4cyl for cheap!

_Thanks Craig for showing what can be done with a _*_Barra_*_ instead of shoving a __-fucking-__ Chev under the bonnet_

      Forensic
Yep, this car is faster than the twin turbo Capri with a Chevy 350 that I watched on CZcams right before I found this video. But this is accomplished with an inline 6cyl Ford engine!

Impressive. I so want a VB or VC dunny-door, with one of these in it.... 9 inch, Watts Link instead of the Panhard Rod, and ... noise & smoke! If it goes in a Cortina, it'd go in an early C'dore just fine.
As for Ford v GM - Who cares? They both fkkud orf and left us when the money got tight, so... Take the best bits and use them - I don't care what the writing on the box says...
