Kaiserredux lets you do whatever and because of that every path keeps breaking because it doesnt take into account the le wacky shit that the paths for the nation next to it have
Kaiserreich on the other hand yes it limits you, but when you look at it better you notice that it just doesnt let you exploit the badly made game mechanics by paradox to world conquest as any thing ever.
Its still a strategy game, just one with a narration alongside it to make you immerse yourself in the country youre playing, assuming you bother to do the very tiring activity of reading 5 lines of text

This looks like they wrote down the storyline for Paraguay, made each individual focus, forgot to actually give you cores on anything, and then just never play-tested a single thing.
To be fair, having Huey Long as the Paraguayan president makes getting cores on Colombia or whatever even less realistic.

Ideal circumstances for this path would probably be: Huey Long gets immediately destroyed, Argentina wins the war with Chile, you somehow steamroll Argentina with good luck, Mexico doesn't stay Syndicalist, and yet, after the AUS is destroyed, the American Civil War immediately enters a grinding stalemate.
Unfortunately, this is REALLY rare. Huey Long usually holds on for a while and usually either wins or gets killed by the Pacific States somewhere around 1940. Argentina DOES usually win, but good luck beating them. I have never seen Mexico not stay left-aligned. And the American Civil War usually starts accelerating around 1943, which is roughly when you enter as Paraguy.
And if ANYTHING disrupts this, it's a Hell game. Canada enters the Civil War? You're fucked. Any one of these many Syndicalist nations you have to fight enters the Internationale? You're fucked. Hell, fucking anyone sends volunteers to the wrong country? You're fucked.
Your best hope for being able to actually play this would be very specifically using the game rules to manipulate events to your own ends. And even then it's probably going to be grinding and slow and stupid hard.
you dont have to fight argentina. Sure they have a core state of yours, but attacking argentina is not in the focus tree. You have to attack bolivia and then peru. So long as bolivia doesnt become part of a better faction youre good.

The long dong Redux team should put in some focus that allows you to core all he South/Central American states, give it a meme name like "Cada hombre un rey" or sth like that, I mean its a meme mod anyway so why not make it funnier...
Kaiserredux is less of a meme mod and more just a moderately more silly Kaiserreich expansion.
Sure, the super meme-y stuff is in there, Lovecraft can take over New England, for example, but the most meme-y stuff is locked behind game rules and very rare event options that the AI never takes.

i feel like these mods should maybe have some focus trees that stops them from joining giant mega-factions the size of NATO, and instead make local factions that maybe pair like, Colombia and Venezuela, like that? So then its still a challenge but you dont need to fight a mega war.
The mod does have those, like in central America there's a revolutionary front that forms and then the central American republic can be formed

Kaiserredux is just "Masochism: The Mod". A lot of trees don't seem planned out and often run into the sorta issues you had, where a way too small country gets into way too big of a conflict.
I recommend buffing yourself slightly when you play these countries, either via game rules or commands, whichever you prefer. That makes it way easier and more enjoyable, even if your task gets outta hand.
This video really demonstrates why i don't like Kaiserredux, there is just so much dumb shit happening all the time that actually completing a path how you're supposed to gets frustrating because nothing is really made to fit together well
Yeah, like the focus trees look really good and all, but if you are not a major power you can't do anything
It takes the worst part of Kaiserreich- the massive overwhelming bloat and the contradictory focus trees that means you either have to get lucky or set up the focus trees the AI will take in game rules in order to actually accomplish what you want to and do what your tree is supposed to let you do and this mod just makes it 10× worse.

Which is funny since AFAIK nobody he fought is even changed by Kaiserredux until he entered the 2ACW. Everything except Paraguay was Vanilla Kaiserriech, it's just the focus trees aren't even made to work well on their own, let alone when they conflict with eachother. If you want to see a real redux shit storm try playing Napoleonic National France, it was one of the original focus trees they made and it's barely been changed, it still has a wargoal focus against 'Two sicilies' even though they haven't existed in redux for years.
That's the exact reason I love Kaiserredux. It's just so constantly dumb as fuck and I love it.

All ambition, no balance, no playtesting, no fun factor.
I don't know. I've played it a lot more than Kaiserreich lately. It is unbalanced and buggy, but I'd rather take a buggy overambitious project over a boring polished one with very little ambition like Kaiserreich, who's team actively works to suck fun out of the game by removing parts that they deem "unrealistic", which is ridiculous statement to make when you consider the premise of the mod.

Just because the premise (Germany winning, UOB being communist) is unrealistic doesn’t mean the whole mod has to be. It’s entirely possible and I don’t think it’s ridiculous

I imagine he doesn't because it is slow as fuck. It's the same problem Kaisereich has but worse.
Or maybe ISP doesn't like the dumbness of some of the paths. I mean, hell, most of the time you are just playing the same country the same way with different aesthetics. Mechanically there is little difference between a lot of the paths for countries.
I only play it because Home of The Brave integrated with it. I dislike all the stuff they add that isn't HOTB added to the civil war. So maybe I'm biased
