  • Oh my yes at the very end of the show I typed Lana Turner rather
    than Dorothy Lamour! Now that is a mistake that Vinny would have
    NEVER made! Thank you for enjoying the flea market with us and be
    sure to let me know if you would like to see more outdoor flea market
    shows!
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    My interest is buying and selling antiques and vintage items mostly
    from the 1920's into the mid 1960's. Thank you for watching.

      I think flea markets are such a different view of buying. Everything from dealers to folks selling whatever they can to make a few dollars. So yes please keep taking us along on those trips. You never know what you'll find and you meet interesting people. I focused on those shoes. So worn,probably someone's only pair for years.

    Thanks for the ride to Schupp's Grove. I was impressed - the flea market looked very organized. I liked your comment to the seller - 'I'm filming for those that can't be here'. It doesn't go unnoticed that you are always so respectful when filming and careful not to film shoppers.

    So nice to see that beautiful picture of Miss Dorothy Lamour. She's either dressed as Ulah - the Jungle Princess, or maybe Marama (in The Hurricane), or Tura - the Jungle Love, maybe Manuela on a Tropic Holiday, or Aloma of the South Seas. She may just be Mima - hiding away from Bob and BIng on the Road to Singapore! Typecasting - definitely. But she did it so beautifully. (The movie VInnie was trying to think of was The Greatest Show on Earth in 1952. She played acrobat Phyllis.

    Scott really enjoyed this video! I love the music you chose to go with them. I can picture my grandparents listening to these songs . They came to the US in the early thirties from Puerto Rico and my grandfather would always tell me about how he could get a burger fries and a drink for under a dollar! I was born in 1965 and my childhood was during the 70’s so all his stories would always fascinate us. Thanks for bringing back good memories for me with all the wonderful treasures of the past and the music too😊❤️

    The sanitary market and grocery must have been an establishment that cleaned the blood and guts from the meat case, mopped the floors, and changed the fly paper strip weekly. The old photos of these early butcher shops and groceries would leave you thinking a lot about cleanliness. Collecting early businesses’ ephemera will certainly open your eyes as to how difficult dirt streets and NO air conditioning made operating a business was really like. A feather duster, rug beater, and good broom were the tools of the trade. Life was hard, but a good old ‘crooner’ tune took the edge off of things. What a beautiful flea market. Thanks.

    Cool stuff! I would be spending hours there! The linens are nice, and my wife would be going through all the vintage shoes! Dorothy Lamour was the “sirrong girl” of all the Bob and Bing “Road Too” films of the 40s and into the 50s! Sorry, I’m a big classic film nut! Hope Vinny got that, it’s a good one, from her earlier career.
