Great vlog, I've always wanted to visit Rangitoto but it looks intimidating. Glad to see that I don't need to be super fit to do the trek. Auckland City seems to be always under construction 🏗, every visit there is always something new. Great video as always guys 👍👍👍
Auckland city is going under a massive transformation right now with the underground rail link and also quite a few new buildings. I think they wanna get most of it done before the America's cup. Rangitoto the volcano for all fitness levels 😂✌
@@PeterandYen The last time I was working in town, the Downtown plaza was already demolished, and those weird pedestrian crossings along Fanshaw, also the underground rail system was causing huge traffic delays, I think that was 2 years ago? I sooo don't miss working in town. I can't wait to do the Rangitoto trip tho. I laughed when you guys had yr PNB&J sandwiches, I was thinking at least a double decker egg sandwich with some chips and sparkling water😆. I've been watching heaps of Korean stuff on Netflix, so hopefully when I do my trip I can bust out my mediocre korean cooking skills and pack some bulgogi with sides 😆

Yea everywhere is not so busy since no overseas tourists and thankfully we have the luxury to visit places during the weekday too so even less busy than if we went on the weekend 😁👍 it was a cute bottle ay? Would make for a nice tall vase I thought 🙂

@@PeterandYen Kiwi ingenuity at its best. Was there in 2000 when they defended it for the first time. Was an amazing experience and definitely a highlight of my life. Ticker tape parade was out of this world. They reckon 200 thousand people were there.

Two things - No.1- from Rangitoto island - if you intentionally miss the ferry can you camp overnight and then catch the ferry back the following morning - and No.2 - Shrewsbury's!....are you kidding me - I love those biscuits, I haven't eaten one since I moved overseas from NZ a long time ago.....anyway - I'm still chuckling over the people that missed the ferry.....I wonder what they were thinking when they saw the ferry leave. Thanks Peter & Yen, I enjoyed that.

I love them too and go through periods just downing them 😂😂 lucky for those guys they didn't miss the final boat so just meant they had to wait 1 more hour but we could see them from the distance racing down to get to the boardwalk and then slowing when they saw the ferry pull away 😅😅 I do wonder how many people have had to camp overnight from missing the ferry or calling the after hours one out ay 😅
What a fun outing! You had a beautiful and warm day (Peter is in shorts)! The location of your opening scene for the vlog sure brought back great memories of our trip! We stayed in a place at the waterfront overlooking the harbor. I now have a reference point of where Rangitoto Island is located. Our ferry passed by the island on our way to Waiheke Island (we may have even had a stopover at Rangitoto). Oh boy! NZ is moving up my list of places to go after this pandemic is over! Have you thought of partnering with NZ’s tourist bureau for these vlogs? Your vlogs about places to visit in NZ will certainly result in more people wanting to visit your beautiful country!
Arrr must have been an amazing stay right next to the harbor. That area has always been one of our favorite spots, the vibe is excellent especially during summer or when America's cup is on 😁👌 hahaha next time you're back in New Zealand maybe you will be able to visit rangitoto. Hahaha jandals and shorts are my preferred ways to dress in all seasons. Regarding reaching out to NZ tourism we are happy keeping this as a fun hobby of ours but if they wanted to contact us we'd be open to it 🤔😊 Cheers for watching Ray 😁👍
Cool Vlog guys I worked on the island in the shop back in the 1978 we used to go over after school on Friday’s and go back home Sunday arvo. On Saturday nights they used to do a dine and dance as well. Must go back it’s been at least 30 years since I was last there.

For me as a Western European, it is a mindf*** knowing that it is winter time there and you're walking around in shorts, a t-shirt and a light jacket (and jandals, of course) and that you have so much sunshine. Where I live, winter means dark, drizzly weather for months and temperatures around 10 degrees C, with the occasional nighttime freeze dip. Lovely made video, as always. Keep 'm coming!
😂 wow Western European winters sound a lil gloomy, we're lucky here in New Zealand you do get the odd sunny day even in winter. Our entire northland and North island road trip series was shot in it middle of winter with pretty decent weather. But it does get pretty chilly from time to time in the single digits even. Luckily on the day we climbed rangitoto it was around 14 degrees C. Thanks for watching and for the compliments appreciate it 😁✌

We have to wear masks here in LA, and we will probably continue wearing them well into 2021 for sure. That's not a bad price for the tickets to take the ferry! That's crazy there are no shops there, but it's better for the environment. That volcanic rock is no joke! That sumit was cool, and love seeing the volcano crater!! Glad you brought your own lunch! Nah not such clear beautiful days all the time but this winter has been not so bad we found! Warmer weather generally (even though mornings and nights still cold) and less days of rain compared to other winters so we make the most of the good weather whenever we can 😁👍 We're lucky to get some beautiful sunny days in between 🙂 Aww man I did not want to stay long in that cave to run into any spiders or wetas 😅😅

Oh man I honestly didn't even think about spiders until Peter mentioned wetas.. so it was thoughts of both from that moment on!! 😅 I'm so glad I didn't watch other rangitoto vlogs before we went on our trip coz in one there actually was a massive spider which is pretty rare to see here 😅 if I ran into that I would've freaked out for sure 😅🤣 Damn... Lieles and I have tons in common lolol 😁👍👍 thankfully that wasn't the final ferry of the day, there should've still been 1 more for the day but it meant they would've had to wait another whole hour after racing to try catch the one we just made!
Oh man... I feel Yen on getting motion sickness (on boats - for some reason I stopped getting motion sickness in cars - oddly got it after skydiving).. Was supposed to go on a 4hr boat ride once in rough seas and I couldn’t sleep the night before because of nervous anticipation...🥴🤢🤢 Great vid guys! Nice new mall...but we know the super malls in Asia (especially the food courts) are next level😁😋
😅 i think the worse case of motion sickness for yen was when she was super excited about playing project zero. So we got it played for a couple of hours and she had such bad motion sickness from the Playstation game 😅 so when you consider that cars and boats are like next level for her. How do you deal with your motion sickness Hans?
Peter and Yen oh man! Your project zero story reminded me of this long buried memory... years ago my sister bought me my first ever game console - the Wii... I went out and bought a game (Zelda), hurried home and started playing. Since my wife and I didn’t own a tv, I used my wife’s projector and projected the game on a wall... about 20 mins into it, I found myself running to the toilet to puke.. I ended up selling the Wii... and Zelda🤢. The worst part was I never even made it past the very first part where the elf character has to just enter the little portal thingy so the game can actually start. I just kept going in circles. Sometimes I still get queasy on the descent on flights, but it’s mostly just boats now... how I deal with it is... I just 🤮.... I tell my wife meds don’t work.. I just have to let the demons out😬. Oh nooo that is soo like me Hans! (Yen). It wasn't project zero tho, Peter forgot but I know it was a ps game and a horror one.. I was super looking forward to it but same thing.. such bad motion sickness couldn't play or carry on 😅😅😅 I feel like I've been managing a bit better on flights but it's usually coz I just knock myself out with a sleeping pill but yep.. still gets me sometimes too. Puking makes you feel so much better ay? Thankfully with car rides we can just stop but can't do that with flights and boat 😅😅 hope you're having a good day Hans! Take care 😁👋

@@PeterandYen When we went over, it was so choppy and because we were going over for a hens do, the girls were just chatting about wineries and things I didn't want to think of! on the way home it was OK, not as choppy but I still sat there with my eyes closed and sunglasses on! can you believe I have also been on a cruise! never again.
But in saying that not actually sure since didn't ask the store if you can bring it back for them to use. We know that you can do that in Australia but doesn't seem like something that's been adopted here in NZ yet.

Aww man Thorfinn guess what? We drove 3 hours today for our overnight stay in Rotorua but unfortunately Hamurana springs was closed T_T apparently high winds so they closed it today! Hopefully it'll be open tomorrow so we can check it out before heading back to Auckland but the forecast doesn't seem so good unfortunately especially if they closed it today when it wasn't even all that windy we thought 😅 Will see how we go.. fingers crossed! 🤞🤞

Yea everywhere is not so busy since no overseas tourists and thankfully we have the luxury to visit places during the weekday too so even less busy than if we went on the weekend 😁👍 it was a cute bottle ay? Would make for a nice tall vase I thought 🙂

@@PeterandYen Kiwi ingenuity at its best. Was there in 2000 when they defended it for the first time. Was an amazing experience and definitely a highlight of my life. Ticker tape parade was out of this world. They reckon 200 thousand people were there.

Two things - No.1- from Rangitoto island - if you intentionally miss the ferry can you camp overnight and then catch the ferry back the following morning - and No.2 - Shrewsbury's!....are you kidding me - I love those biscuits, I haven't eaten one since I moved overseas from NZ a long time ago.....anyway - I'm still chuckling over the people that missed the ferry.....I wonder what they were thinking when they saw the ferry leave. Thanks Peter & Yen, I enjoyed that.

I love them too and go through periods just downing them 😂😂 lucky for those guys they didn't miss the final boat so just meant they had to wait 1 more hour but we could see them from the distance racing down to get to the boardwalk and then slowing when they saw the ferry pull away 😅😅 I do wonder how many people have had to camp overnight from missing the ferry or calling the after hours one out ay 😅

What a fun outing! You had a beautiful and warm day (Peter is in shorts)! The location of your opening scene for the vlog sure brought back great memories of our trip! We stayed in a place at the waterfront overlooking the harbor. I now have a reference point of where Rangitoto Island is located. Our ferry passed by the island on our way to Waiheke Island (we may have even had a stopover at Rangitoto). Oh boy! NZ is moving up my list of places to go after this pandemic is over! Have you thought of partnering with NZ’s tourist bureau for these vlogs? Your vlogs about places to visit in NZ will certainly result in more people wanting to visit your beautiful country!
Arrr must have been an amazing stay right next to the harbor. That area has always been one of our favorite spots, the vibe is excellent especially during summer or when America's cup is on 😁👌 hahaha next time you're back in New Zealand maybe you will be able to visit rangitoto. Hahaha jandals and shorts are my preferred ways to dress in all seasons. Regarding reaching out to NZ tourism we are happy keeping this as a fun hobby of ours but if they wanted to contact us we'd be open to it 🤔😊 Cheers for watching Ray 😁👍
Cool Vlog guys I worked on the island in the shop back in the 1978 we used to go over after school on Friday’s and go back home Sunday arvo. On Saturday nights they used to do a dine and dance as well. Must go back it’s been at least 30 years since I was last there.

For me as a Western European, it is a mindf*** knowing that it is winter time there and you're walking around in shorts, a t-shirt and a light jacket (and jandals, of course) and that you have so much sunshine.
Where I live, winter means dark, drizzly weather for months and temperatures around 10 degrees C, with the occasional nighttime freeze dip.

😂 wow Western European winters sound a lil gloomy, we're lucky here in New Zealand you do get the odd sunny day even in winter. Our entire northland and North island road trip series was shot in it middle of winter with pretty decent weather. But it does get pretty chilly from time to time in the single digits even. Luckily on the day we climbed rangitoto it was around 14 degrees C. Thanks for watching and for the compliments appreciate it 😁✌

We have to wear masks here in LA, and we will probably continue wearing them well into 2021 for sure. That's not a bad price for the tickets to take the ferry! That's crazy there are no shops there, but it's better for the environment. That volcanic rock is no joke! That sumit was cool, and love seeing the volcano crater!! Glad you brought your own lunch! That cave entrance was cool, and so awesome you went inside. Sucks there is construction at the shops, but the food court was nice. Thanks for taking us with you and lots of love to you both!!

Nah not such clear beautiful days all the time but this winter has been not so bad we found! Warmer weather generally (even though mornings and nights still cold) and less days of rain compared to other winters so we make the most of the good weather whenever we can 😁👍 We're lucky to get some beautiful sunny days in between 🙂 Aww man I did not want to stay long in that cave to run into any spiders or wetas 😅😅

there are some batches available to rent. you can find them on mr google bookabach rangitoto they are all 1950's and earlier fit out but really nice for a few days away for a real explore... have fun.

That is a long walk! 1 hour to the summit. I would've taken one of the explorer trains haha. The view was stunning though.

Was supposed to go on a 4hr boat ride once in rough seas and I couldn’t sleep the night before because of nervous anticipation...🥴🤢🤢 Great vid guys! Nice new mall...but we know the super malls in Asia (especially the food courts) are next level😁😋
😅 i think the worse case of motion sickness for yen was when she was super excited about playing project zero. So we got it played for a couple of hours and she had such bad motion sickness from the Playstation game 😅 so when you consider that cars and boats are like next level for her. How do you deal with your motion sickness Hans?
Peter and Yen oh man! Your project zero story reminded me of this long buried memory... years ago my sister bought me my first ever game console - the Wii... I went out and bought a game (Zelda), hurried home and started playing. Since my wife and I didn’t own a tv, I used my wife’s projector and projected the game on a wall... about 20 mins into it, I found myself running to the toilet to puke.. I ended up selling the Wii... and Zelda🤢. The worst part was I never even made it past the very first part where the elf character has to just enter the little portal thingy so the game can actually start. I just kept going in circles. Sometimes I still get queasy on the descent on flights, but it’s mostly just boats now... how I deal with it is... I just 🤮.... I tell my wife meds don’t work.. I just have to let the demons out😬. Oh nooo that is soo like me Hans! (Yen). It wasn't project zero tho, Peter forgot but I know it was a ps game and a horror one.. I was super looking forward to it but same thing.. such bad motion sickness couldn't play or carry on 😅😅😅 I feel like I've been managing a bit better on flights but it's usually coz I just knock myself out with a sleeping pill but yep.. still gets me sometimes too. Puking makes you feel so much better ay? Thankfully with car rides we can just stop but can't do that with flights and boat 😅😅 hope you're having a good day Hans! Take care 😁👋

wow what a site! beautiful. I get sea sick too Yen! I was so nervous going to Waiheke, my friends thought I was joking and were laughing at me, but it's a major fear because sea sickness is just not the greatest right?!
Oh my goodness as much as I enjoy Waiheke that ferry ride is so bad for me too Leah!! It starts as a splitting headache in the back of my head for me, works its way around and ends with me usually wanting to throw up 😅😅 is it about the same for you?
@@PeterandYen When we went over, it was so choppy and because we were going over for a hens do, the girls were just chatting about wineries and things I didn't want to think of! on the way home it was OK, not as choppy but I still sat there with my eyes closed and sunglasses on! can you believe I have also been on a cruise! never again.

Aww man Thorfinn guess what? We drove 3 hours today for our overnight stay in Rotorua but unfortunately Hamurana springs was closed T_T apparently high winds so they closed it today! Hopefully it'll be open tomorrow so we can check it out before heading back to Auckland but the forecast doesn't seem so good unfortunately especially if they closed it today when it wasn't even all that windy we thought 😅 Will see how we go.. fingers crossed! 🤞🤞
