I've got a 3070 with a 7800x3D. These tweaks worked wonders. I've been struggling for ages and these helped enormously, especially on the A10. Thank you very much!
Thanks, was about to ask if you'd make one. Btw I was following along with the video, steamvr still opens. Im quite new to vr so idk if its supposed to be like this but the small window that says steam vr and shows if controllers and the headset are connected still shows up. With the menu button i can still open the steam vr menu but not get into my library (using my pico 4). Is it supposed to be like that? Also I noticed my performance dropped from what i can tell
Thank you for keeping this up-to-date man. I really appreciate it. I have literally just popped in a fresh pair of contacts and I just switched from glasses and a TOBII head tracker Because my friend got a brand new oculus three. I have an oculus quest two. Anyways, just wanted to say thank you!!
This is seriously the first guide that has actually helped me get good results! Flying A10 works amazing, the F16 seems a little unstable still, with frame rates between 36 and 72 FPS. I installed Windows 11 when I got a new computer and it never really played nice with the Quest 2.
nice to know w10 plays better with Q2... just got a new ssd hard drive with 10 instead of 11 (which I used previously), and am trial testing the A10c tank killer as my first full fidelity module having just got into the game. (only plane I actually want is Eurofighter lol)
Incredible, first time I've been happy with settings on DCS, I have a similar spec system (inc the GTX3080ti and Quest2) and these work really well. Thanks very much for creating this video..
Thank you! All the other guides did a good job of getting me from 20-22 up do a steady 36. Occasionally more, sometimes less, depending on what's going on. I had it locked at max 36 even. This guide though.. wow! I'm up to 70+, 90 on the lobby screen, which is shocking to me. The game, I'm around 55 to 70 ish, sometimes more. Still playing with it, though I wanted to say this is video is the one that's made the largest difference in my DCS enjoyment in VR. Ty!
I've got a locked 45 fps using AWS via OTT, with max settings, when flying low in the A10! It looks super smooth, and has totally changed my immersion in DCS. Before, I was getting a good FR, occasional judders, yet I was fine w/ it. Its so smooth now, it feels like a different game, and my enjoyment has skyrocketed! Ty!
maybe consider upgrading your gpu if you can get the money. I think getting yourself a 4070 would be like magic to you. can't imagine the jump from 45 fps to 72.@@jimsmith8468
does this tutorial assume using the steam version on steam vr, I have the openbeta version installed from ED directly... do I still need steam vr to run it?
Yesterday I was trying to play on 4YA syria at like 25ish FPS. Watched this video and today it's 72. Thank you so much. System specs: R5900x, 3080, 64GB ram
Hi Luabox, thanks for the ultimate guide. The system i have and most of my community here in South america are running hardware such 3070ti oc with ryzen 5800x or 3700x, we perceived 72HZ without any problems in Multiplayer. As per the key settings, definitely the fov limitation on Oculus tray does wonders from 42 hz sometimes to a steady 72hz. Thanks again and keep the good work as in the last 3 years i have been also trying multiple setups including EGGRO that also provided excellent set ups.
High terrain textures cause encoding issues on my Quest 2 with a 3060 12GB card. Most of the performance you're getting comes down to three things: having a 3080Ti, MSAA off, and shadows off.
Is it the same performance in MP servers ? I have a similar rig, but it keeps crashing ... I think it is the ram capacity as I can see that 95% of the 32gb is used before it crashes
I hope this video helps others struggling to find the correct settings, but let's help each other! Let me know your optimal settings in the comments below with your system specs so we can learn from each other and get the best VR experience in DCS. And ow yeah... simply liking this video will help my channel grow! Thanks!
Yeah I have no idea, followed this and even lowered all my settings to the minimum, just for the heck of it. What im finding is that the image inside DCS seem to almost shake, I have no idea why, I honestly see it even in the menu. Alot of shimmering even at the loading screen and the bottom of the menus seem to shake around. Once in the game sitting completely still in the cockpit and this causes the a jumping around. Can't explain it but imagine that it is almost vibrating almost like it cant figure out where it wants to be and constantly tries to correct itself. I'm running out of patience with this thing honestly
i would love to see a video on how you do your vr game recording. or even an explanation. ive gotten my graphics settings dialed but cannot get a good way to record my vr game play.
I'm getting good results here with an older PC Build. CPU: 3800x GPU: 1080ti RAM: 32gig DDR4-3200 Gen4 m.2 SSD with a large Pagefile Quest2 via AirLink I get that 72FPS in Singleplayer free flight. In low populated MP on Syria Map i get 72FPS most of the time with little Dips to reprojection.
I've been putting off diving really deep into DCS because I couldn't get it to run great on quest, and since I have a quest I couldn't justify buying trackIR for one game. Will definitely be able to put in hours now!
As a long term DCS VR player i can add some differing opinions here (we all have different ones, especially when it comes to graphics) I would turn terrain to low as it makes little difference visually but huge difference in performance. Leave antistrophic filtering off but put MSAA to minimum 2x but pref 4x as this will eliminate the dreaded shimmering and "jaggies". Cockpit to higher every frame. and leave traffic on as it adds emersion when doing ground attack. Just an opinion ofc.
AF really doesn't have that bad of a performance hit. same thing with textures. MSAA has a crazy hit but if it's what your GPU can handle and if it looks good in your VR . ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I say this with a 3070
OMG It WORKED! I just bought a 3080 ftw3 literally yesterday and the performance was awful. After these tweaks I can now fly the Apache for the firs time in VR with no stutters. Its as smooth as the huey. I upgraded from a 1080ti and was happy but couldn't fly the Apache with out it stuttering. I'm running a Ryzen 7 5800x 64 gb ddr4 3600 3tb ssd quest 1 on a evga rtx 3080
I’m glad you found a happy place where all the stars align and your dcs universe is sweet and rosy. Mine isn’t and nothing I do makes the slightest difference. I’ve spent years trying to fly dcs in vr. And despite all my efforts to understand it all. And make all the bolt ons talk to each other, my new 4090/ 7950x combo, is still stuttering on minimum settings and everything beyond the wing tip looks like im flying in an impressionist painting. I’m Done with it. If only it were as simple as plug and play I might have been able to enjoy it.
Your problem may be the streaming/link setup. I run this at 58fps on a 4070 and Ryzen 7 3700x and that's without openvr and all that. It could be your ram too. I fixed most of my dcs problems by upgrading my ram. it needs at minimum 30gb for MP and even then that's a minimum. If you don't have 64gb of ram you hit paging memory in MP which slows down DCS a lot.
Also putting the terrain object shadow to none and the reg shadows to high instead of low will gain you 20 fps. Theres a reddit post out there explaining why the high shadows gives more fps. Has to do with the low res needing some mapping that makes the mesh count much much higher tanking fps when there are vehicles in frame that needs shadows. Which is why most of the fps drops in dcs MP comes from looking at other players.
I have a 3060ti and couldnt really use VR until now. still messing with settings but was getting 50fps and was already surprised should be able to follow this video now to fine tune everything.
Much thanks for these, rocking a similar system with the quest 2, 9900k @5ghz, 64gb ram @ 3200, but my 3080 is the lower founders edition. Been getting back into it and tweaking everything I could find, and I think I was making it worse than it was over the weekend. Restarted fresh and plugged this in, I use the raven one dominant fury campaign in the f18 to test since it has so much going on the deck of the first mission. I figure if I can hold the stable 36/7 frames there (which leads to locked 72 almost from takeoff) nothing airborne should really give me problems. Working like a charm, taxiing aircraft don't look like they're skipping. HUD and MFD text in the 18 is a little squiggly for my liking so going to start bumping up the quest 2 res, but this seems to be working better than trying to downscale with FSR or NIS in the toolkit and regaining clarity with the fps killer MSAA. Turbo mode also a huge helper - but I noticed that once I'm in-flight, if the headset gets deactivated or passthrough mode gets activated the game will crash if Turbo is enabled, but I'm somewhat banking this on likely running out of vram on the weaker founders edition 3080.
Been trying Virtual Desktop and its smooth as butter where as airlink/ normal link for me has been a bit stuttery and I was seeing artefacts. Only problem I have currently with virtual desktop is black borders!
im using this video, i currently have a ryzen 7 7700x, msi pro b650 p wifi, and ddr5 6000mhz 32gb ram(got it all for $450 together at microcenter, best deal ever), and an rtx 3090 founders edition. whenever im in vr via oculus link the frames always look choppy while looking out to the side. i hope this fixes it.
With a 4090 and a decent CPU you can get stable real 72fps accross most maps and modules (except the CPU intensive Apache) with some careful adjustments of the DCS in game settings and with Fixed Foveated Rendering" in OpenXR Toolkit. MP servers with heavy scripting and lots of players is another thing....
I am hoping to buy the Quest 2 by the end of the year. I am currently rocking a AMD 7 3800x with 32 GB Ram at 3200 MT/s and a RTX 3070 right now. If I can get 60 FPS steady with dips for repopulating and such in MP, id be so happy. Upgrading this PC cant happen this year as much as id love to lol.
Hey mate, thanks for the comment! Much appreciated! SP you gonna be fine. It is always the MP that is a bit weird. But if i was you, the quest 3 comes in october, you could go for that one!
I've heard positive things about VR, but I'm uncertain if I'll enjoy it, and I worry about investing in a high-quality VR system only to find that I don't like using it. Currently using an RTX 4090, and planning to purchase a 32-inch 4K OLED later this year.
I have a newer game pc with an RTX 4090 and just picked up a Quest Pro after my Reverb died a few weeks ago. I haven't messed with the Oculus Toolkit on my setup. I maxxed out the Oculus graphics setting slider, installed the Foveated plugin and setup OpenXR to just show the FPS counter. I'm sure there are a few more tweaks I could do. I have MSAA x2 and getting 90+ FPS all over the DCS servers. I had to bring gamma down a tad since the Pro is so brightly lit
Sorry to say, there is NO WAY you get real 90+ FPS with MSAAx2 on all MP servers. You must be running in reprojection mode at 45fps. There is no CPU powerful enough in 2023...
wait, are you the same Lau from Sp4zie? LOL I DIDNT KNOW! I am looking at videos as I have just gotten Quest 2, Enjoying it on Assetto Corsa with full Fanatec DD. Now I want to get to DCS on an F16
Haha, yes, that is me. I still sometimes receive these messages! It's funny to see how the audience has matured and transitioned from League to something like DCS :D Feel free to join the Discord if you need people to play with!
You need secondary shadows only if you fly the F/18 and want to see the wands clearly on the flight deck for taxing on the carrier otherwise off is good.
i have a reverb g2 and rift s, overall the rift s is alot smoother even with higher settings in DCS, reverb g2 blurs more when i turn though a bit brighter and touch better quality.
You never mentioned whether it was a wired connection or a wireless one. I bout a 40gbps USB c cable. Would I still get a better performance through a wireless connection?
Came here after I kept crashing because my 32GB of ram kept filling up. Turned my world and normal textures from high to medium and that fixed it lol. Coming from VTOL VR, boy is this game very janky. Feels like early 2017 PUBG.
I can't find this game for my meta oculus quest 2; I really do like flight simulator a lot even though i almost passed out using a different flight simulator due to motion sickness upon being airborn
Everything worked great for me at first, but after I got it running good I shut my vr and computer of to go do something and the next time I tried to get on I had the 3 dot loading problem and nothing I have found on the internet seems to fix it! Anyone have any ideas? Also it continued to happen on my quest 3 as well.
LMAOOO THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL… IM ABOUT TO TEST ALL THIS IN A FEW HOURS BUT I ALREADY KNOW HOW IT WILL END AS IT ALWAYS DOES, I will report back once the battle has ended. Victorious, or is shame once again
For HP G2 Users do the same in OpenXR Toolkit with Turbo mode on AND "Override resolution in the SYSTEM tab" SET to "YES" then set the 2nd per EYE resolution to 2160 (it is okay that the 1st number is higher ignore it) NOW GOING BACK ONE STEP to On your Desktop Program for OpenXR TOOLS (for windows mixed reality) Set the CUSTOM render scale to 190% motion reprojection OFF like him set your in game settings to whatever you wish. REMEMBER to Restart the OpenXR TOOLS after you set the Custom Resolution. and after setting the OpenXR TOOLKIT "in game" reboot your VR session for That to take effect. CPU 5800x3D RAM 64g GPU 4090 24g Yes VR in DCS still kills this GPU with my CPU being the issue of Main "render core" Overload at 100% with only 10 to 15% use on at least 3 other of the 8 Cores DCS could be using and does not want to tap into more. They need to do a better job of the MT tasking in DCS. 90 FPS in VR
MT is still in its first release incarnation. IIRC is only does 2 threads. They have promised that in two-weeks (tm) we will eventually get more threads. Id like to know what the hold up is with Vulcan.
Great job with the video I do have a couple questions though if anyone knows the answers. 1. When you selected the DCS exe in the bin-mt folder and add the lines above this must be added to the shortcut. So I'm assuming you create a shortcut first and then add the line at the end about openXR. I'm not able to edit the exe properties unless I create a shortcut to it. 2. Along the same lines in the Nvidea settings, you look for the shortcut that was created or are you using the main DCS exe. I only ask because in the video it looks like the main exe is selected because it shows "blackshark" as part of the name. 3. Does anyone know how to get rid of the aparent lag or jumpiness of the screen. I followed the setting as far as I know and when operating on the Syria map on a small mission I build im noticing almost a jump or sudden loss of clarity when moving my head around. 4. Is there anyway to get rid of all the shimmering that I'm seeing. It only happens on VR and not in 2d on a large screen. I'm running a 3080Ti as well but it is a mobile platform so it might be slightly weaker then yours, but should get about the same results. I also did not see a change when messing with the fov settings in oculus tray tool, so I'm guessing I probably did that wrong. Thank you for the awesome help and hopefully someone can answer a few of these questions. I managed to do a cold start on the a10-c2, takeoff, fly a couple patterns, safely land, and shutdown before calling it a day. My motion sickness starts kicking in pretty bad after about 30 min. Motion sickness that only happens in VR lol gotta love it.
1. Yes, you've got the process correct. You need to create a shortcut of the .exe file first, and then you can add the command line at the end in the properties of the shortcut, not the original .exe file. Do keep in mind, this is not really neccesary as the BIN MT exe already opens it in OPENXR. I for example skip this part. 2. When selecting the default BIN MT EXE it just goes to the blackshark one. So i hope it is actually selecting that one! :) 3. there can be a lot of causes. i fixed some of them! What headset do you use? i can than give you some tips! 4. Shimmering in VR usually indicates an issue with anti-aliasing. In your DCS VR settings, try increasing your MSAA (Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing) level. this will have an impact on your performance. But setting msaa to 2x will improve! Alternatively, you might try increasing the renderscaling if your system can handle it. i can play it in the quest 2 with 1.3 render scaling. What do you btw mean with 'mobile platform'. A laptop! Thanks for the questions! Happy to help you get it run smooth!
@@laubox Yes, laptop versions of desktop GPU chipsets don't usually perform as well. It's possible the CPU will be thermal throttling as well causing stutters.
@@laubox I was also having a similar shimmering issue (with the Quest 2) and changing MSAA to 2x and adjusting the MSAA in the VR settings tab to 2.0 almost completely eliminated it! I only get a small amount of shimmering every once in a while now, awesome info! Thank you!
You can réduce monitor résolution too if it's possible because you don't use it in vr and GPU will thank you!! You should try Warthunder it is just awsome; it run not too bad with my gtx 1650 4go and i5 4590...
@@lauboxI see that now. Good video but it doesn't matter to me now, the latest updates from oculus has essentially destroyed my PCVR. Getting a giant distorted mirror image in the shape of an X. Happens with both usb and airlink so no more vr dcs for me for a while.
When i fly with the quest 3, rtx 3070 intel i5 32 gb ram, intruments are readable, mfd's very blurry, almost cant read it. Other aircraft are very pixelated and blurry, clouds and ground also very pixelated and shimmering. When a other aircraft is at the end of the runway, i only see sort of a dot. How can i fix all this things?
My laptop easily stays above 60fps on high settings but absolutely craps the bed with VR. Not only does it get under 20fps at times with these fixes, it also just crashes every single time I exit a mission. Piss poor considering how well some games run in VR vs 2D
@@laubox My FPS increased a lot, even lowering the resolution and lowering the graphics on the Beat Saber PC, I couldn't play with the same fluidity as on Quest 2, even with a 3060 ti. After I put the values you indicated in the fov multiplier, now I can play with the same fluidity as Quest 2, but with a higher resolution and better graphics.
March 2024, not actual for Pico 4 with VD. Openxr toolkit settings menu won't even show up. And yeah, DCS itself got some updates since july 2023, e.g. DLSS implementation.
Thanks for amazing info and all the effort it took to put it together! Quick question, if I may - when I open OpenXR Toolkit is doesn't have any programs listed in the square at the bottom of the window like yours does and I can't find a way to add them. Do they automatically populate once you run the games?
Great video, I have roughly the same settings too. Out of curiosity, how did you set up the encoding part? What resolution did you choose, and what bitrate are you using? Thanks, ciaooo
Thanks for the great Video! I assume you're connecting to your PC via Oculus link cable? (for the Quest 2) Will any of these tweaks make a difference when playing PCVR through Virtual Desktop? I'm too used to be untethered now and going back to having a cord hanging off the side of my head feels like a step back (I know I'm seated, but that's a different discussion). To play DCS via Steam using Virtual Desktop on the Quest 2, you're forced to run the game through Steam VR. Is there a workaround for this?
Hi Dans, yes i am using The link cable here! Uhm, with VD just switch between Medium and High in the VD streaming settings. I get great results with VD in the pico 4.
How do you cap DCS FPS to 72?? I don’t see the slider here and if I use 75 I get stutters as my game is working harder for NO reason, but on 70 my game gets slow. So I’m forced to use 80 frames so I can sync?
Man my system has a RTX 3060 32gb ram And a i7 12700k Plus the game runs on a KC3000 PCIE 4.0 high end m.2 And im using a pico 4 And im not even getting close To this I have to run it on low and get barly 72fps Also use VD and steam VR And the steam version of the game Because of OVR toolkit
if you use OpenXr you lose ASW in the oDT then i see reprojection, i ve tested the settings like in the video but i got when planes fly by or take off reprojection ( double vision)
About to pull my hair put with going from my old rift s to my new reveb g2 . My god steam vr or not open xr virtual desk top what the hell. Qill try this but my god you jeed a phd tp get this thing to wprk and get desent fps and picture and i know pc . Not kucb faith but ill try it. Getti g crashes in st3amvr running as openxr and pc truns off as well.
Hi! Just a few contributions here: Shadows: Flat Only are PROBLEMATIC and drain a lot of resources, more than any other. I would advise to go to medium or low. Apart from that, which conection are you using on quest? Link or Air Link? Could you share your configs OTT, quest link tab? Thanks a lot!
Btw, R7 5800X3D + RTX 3090 + 32Gb 3200Hz RAM + Quest 2. I wonder how you can get a sharp image on a 1.0 PD, I doesn't seems right to me! I'm going to try though. On my current configuration I prefer to boost my PD up to 2.3 (OTT + Oculus Software) them using FSR (50% + 90% sharpness), it usually gives me 60FPS
I still get 10-26 fps in flight after doing all the steps. I use lower settings than the ones shown in the video and openxr doesn’t seem to change anything
I can't manage to improve the fps, I did all you say in the video and I don't get any better than 45-47 fps (same as before doing all this steps). I have an 'old' good Pc, i7-9700K with 32GB and a 2080Ti 11GB and a HP Reverb G2. I guess there must be something else blocking something..... Looks like it worked for people with a 3070 and I was excited as it's supposed to be so so as a 2080ti. :(
@laubox What I was wondering: for my Quest 2, in the Quest desktop app, it shows rendering resolution is 3616x1840 @ 72Hz. Should I then crank it up to 4128x2096? Because other fun fact: no matter how I play around either with Hz setting, render resolution or the the ingame pixel density of 1 - 1.3, my fps stay at around 35 Ryzen5, 32 GB Ram, RTX 3060
Hi Dwirth, thanks for the reply, In your case i would start with 4128x2096. Leave the ingame pixel density at 1 and dont touch it. Have you tried the FOV multiplier? to lower it? That makes a huge difference in the quest 2!
@@laubox Thx for support! So what I did was differently now was setting to 4128x2096 , turned shadows to flat/off. FOV multiplier I did already set acc. to your video, have turned now to .60 and I now might turn that up again to 0.65 or higher as .60 is a bit too narrow. Now guess what: FPS between 36 and 72 😀
folllowed your instructions to the T, thank you so much, however, and i adjusted this on my own, for whatever reason unless my FOV is set to 0.00 and 0.00 even if i take it all the way up to 0.9 on both i still see black edges through my headset on the vertical and horizontal. Idk if i'm doing something wrong, I have the quest pro, which might be why, though im assuming the settings would be the same, as they have been so far. Should i take the Fov up to 1.0+? just seems the higher i increase the value the more the black areas on the sides seem to grow.
Specs are a 3080 i7 12700k 32 gigs of ram at 3600mhz however I have been meaning to get a new motherboard lately as the one I have now doesn’t let me clock my ram I set it in bios and it doesn’t over clock to 3600 and stays at 2166

Thanks, was about to ask if you'd make one. Btw I was following along with the video, steamvr still opens. With the menu button i can still open the steam vr menu but not get into my library (using my pico 4). Is it supposed to be like that? Also I noticed my performance dropped from what i can tell
@@StLf i think you need to add this line, you put into the DCS shortcut properties, into the steam game startup modifications too. Hope that helps.

High terrain textures cause encoding issues on my Quest 2 with a 3060 12GB card. Most of the performance you're getting comes down to three things: having a 3080Ti, MSAA off, and shadows off.
Thanks for the comment buddy!
Best settings I have ever found for DCS. Amazing. Cristal Clear with 60-70fps. Running 4070 Ti with i13700K. 32gb of ram
Hey @laubox what are your settings in the Open Xr Tools for Windows Mixed reality?, using Reverb G2
Is it the same performance in MP servers ?

CPU: 3800x
GPU: 1080ti
RAM: 32gig DDR4-3200
Gen4 m.2 SSD with a large Pagefile
Quest2 via AirLink
I get that 72FPS in Singleplayer free flight.
In low populated MP on Syria Map i get 72FPS most of the time with little Dips to reprojection.
Fantastic Jag! Did my guide help with anything?
I have a laptop i5 10thousend 2070s 32Ram.
Do you think I could have fun on VR with this setup?
Thanks for the info - I have just ordered the Quest 3 and will give these settings a go!!
I'm running a Ryzen 7 5800x 64 gb ddr4 3600 3tb ssd quest 1 on a evga rtx 3080
this makes me weep dude i get 60 fps 1080ti read my setting comment in this comment section hope it helps .ps i fly the 64 an its smooth as silk
I have a 3060ti and couldnt really use VR until now. still messing with settings but was getting 50fps and was already surprised
should be able to follow this video now to fine tune everything.
Turbo mode also a huge helper - but I noticed that once I'm in-flight, if the headset gets deactivated or passthrough mode gets activated the game will crash if Turbo is enabled, but I'm somewhat banking this on likely running out of vram on the weaker founders edition 3080.
hi Rusty, thanks mate for your detailed reply. Much appreciated!
Been trying Virtual Desktop and its smooth as butter where as airlink/ normal link for me has been a bit stuttery and I was seeing artefacts. Only problem I have currently with virtual desktop is black borders!
Excellent. Thank you!
im using this video, i currently have a ryzen 7 7700x, msi pro b650 p wifi, and ddr5 6000mhz 32gb ram(got it all for $450 together at microcenter, best deal ever), and an rtx 3090 founders edition. whenever im in vr via oculus link the frames always look choppy while looking out to the side. i hope this fixes it.
thanks for the comment buddy! Let me know if it works, otherwise im happy to help you find another solution!
Thank you Sir, this added15 to 20 fps to DCS!
I needed this guide a lot! Thank you so much! :D
Just got a 4090 FE and cranked EVERYTHING to the max, 24/24gb used and I was probably getting like 20 fps 😂 vr is mad
That is mad indeed haa
With a 4090 and a decent CPU you can get stable real 72fps accross most maps and modules (except the CPU intensive Apache) with some careful adjustments of the DCS in game settings and with Fixed Foveated Rendering" in OpenXR Toolkit. MP servers with heavy scripting and lots of players is another thing....
Ah I was waiting for the reverb g2 settings
New update came out after and all fps got halved for me. What was 60 now is 35. But desktop in 4080x3240 works awesome.
Thank you this helped me alot all in one video kn how to do it and description on how to download it i improved my game by alot!
@@laubox oh it does? well then! i better research that up now! thanks!
I've heard positive things about VR, but I'm uncertain if I'll enjoy it, and I worry about investing in a high-quality VR system only to find that I don't like using it. Currently using an RTX 4090, and planning to purchase a 32-inch 4K OLED later this year.
are you here to blow arse about your 4090 then?
I have a newer game pc with an RTX 4090 and just picked up a Quest Pro after my Reverb died a few weeks ago. I haven't messed with the Oculus Toolkit on my setup. I maxxed out the Oculus graphics setting slider, installed the Foveated plugin and setup OpenXR to just show the FPS counter. I'm sure there are a few more tweaks I could do. I have MSAA x2 and getting 90+ FPS all over the DCS servers. I had to bring gamma down a tad since the Pro is so brightly lit
Dont make me jealous here Nerdy! Can't wait to one day get this same experience without having to worry about the settings!
Sorry to say, there is NO WAY you get real 90+ FPS with MSAAx2 on all MP servers. You must be running in reprojection mode at 45fps. There is no CPU powerful enough in 2023...
yes it can i run bassicly the same system and a pro and get 90 fps on mp occasionallyit can drop but 95% the time it is stable
wait, are you the same Lau from Sp4zie? LOL I DIDNT KNOW!
I am looking at videos as I have just gotten Quest 2, Enjoying it on Assetto Corsa with full Fanatec DD. Now I want to get to DCS on an F16
Haha, yes, that is me. I still sometimes receive these messages! It's funny to see how the audience has matured and transitioned from League to something like DCS :D Feel free to join the Discord if you need people to play with!
can't wait to try this
You need secondary shadows only if you fly the F/18 and want to see the wands clearly on the flight deck for taxing on the carrier otherwise off is good.
Great tutorial, thanks dude!
The FOV adjust doesn't work for the G2 it seems. Just makes black squares.
Thanks for this video. My question is: does 64GB of RAM make a difference compared to 32GB?
omg i wanna try this now!! at some point my oculus worked just fine on DCS but recently, maybe after an update...it lags like a mofoer. gonna try this
Curious to know your results!
@laubox it worked!! Thank you so much for this. It's still slow to load but when it loads, it plays a lot better
1:20 For which headsets is OpenXR available? Is it available for Rift (S)?
i have a reverb g2 and rift s, overall the rift s is alot smoother even with higher settings in DCS, reverb g2 blurs more when i turn though a bit brighter and touch better quality.
You never mentioned whether it was a wired connection or a wireless one. I bout a 40gbps USB c cable. Would I still get a better performance through a wireless connection?
Could you please Renew this helpfull video for DCS 2.9 ? That may helpful for all.. Thans alot
It's in the making but will take some.time haha
Open xr toolkit does not have any of the "
enable Open XR toolkit selectively for each aplication"
options... the box is empty 😢
Helped me quite a bit. Thanks.
5800x / 3070 / G2v2.
Great tutorial! What are you using for interacting with the cockpit? How are you flipping switches and knobs? Again, thanks for your hard work!!
hundreds of hours troubleshoting, 10 hours of acttually playing the game 😂 , back to VTOLVR for me
haha true story!
In quest2, how do you open the game, from virtual desktop? Do you completely bypass Steamvr?
thank you for this video. What is your PD in DCS VR settings ?
it is on 1. I only change the render scaling in the oculus app
@@mitch_the_-itch yeah exactly.. which means we could finally get DLSS too...
Thanks dude 2080ti keeps up with these settings on a 5 year old oculus
3. there can be a lot of causes. i fixed some of them!
Thank you!
Great tutorial! I can't seem to find DCS shortcut within the bin mt folder. any tips?
It's a good walk through setup, the only issue I have is now I'm looking through a letterbox when play DCS, Is that to do with the Toolbox settings?
any tipps for virtual desktop users? i dont have a link cable and i use the quest 2 wireless with virtual desktop
You can réduce monitor résolution too if it's possible because you don't use it in vr and GPU will thank you!! You should try Warthunder it is just awsome; it run not too bad with my gtx 1650 4go and i5 4590...
How come when I do training it says the pc bonded like L-shift when I play on vr?
Video was very helpful. Was wondering about OBS though, do you use oculus mirror?
Hi Jon, during this video i just captured the game screen without the oculus mirror. so just the dcs screen.
How can i fix all this things?
awesome settings
My laptop easily stays above 60fps on high settings but absolutely craps the bed with VR. Not only does it get under 20fps at times with these fixes, it also just crashes every single time I exit a mission. Piss poor considering how well some games run in VR vs 2D
Bruh, Fov multiplier just make my play much better
Thanks mateus! What changes did you see?
@@laubox My FPS increased a lot, even lowering the resolution and lowering the graphics on the Beat Saber PC, I couldn't play with the same fluidity as on Quest 2, even with a 3060 ti. After I put the values you indicated in the fov multiplier, now I can play with the same fluidity as Quest 2, but with a higher resolution and better graphics.
March 2024, not actual for Pico 4 with VD. Openxr toolkit settings menu won't even show up. And yeah, DCS itself got some updates since july 2023, e.g. DLSS implementation.
What plane did you initially fly on?
Thanks for amazing info and all the effort it took to put it together! Quick question, if I may - when I open OpenXR Toolkit is doesn't have any programs listed in the square at the bottom of the window like yours does and I can't find a way to add them. Do they automatically populate once you run the games?
Does oculus tray tool, open XR toolkit and OpenCompositing work in VD. I can’t use link cable cuz of some Oculus issue I have so I have to use VD
what we see what you have recored is the vr of your monitor. did you had before in the helmet double buildings? ive got rtx3070
Great video, I have roughly the same settings too. Out of curiosity, how did you set up the encoding part? What resolution did you choose, and what bitrate are you using? Thanks, ciaooo
Will have to check! Resolution in the video is just at 1X.
Hey! I just got a quest 2. How do we do what you just did because my game is on steam?
Big Thx !
Thanks!
How do you cap DCS FPS to 72?? I don’t see the slider here and if I use 75 I get stutters as my game is working harder for NO reason, but on 70 my game gets slow. So I’m forced to use 80 frames so I can sync?
I cannot get my Pico to work with DCS. either itll stay on the splash screen or it wont even start in VR. plz help

Strange... mine were all automatically selected.
I also have this issue... pls help lol
if you use OpenXr you lose ASW in the oDT then i see reprojection, i ve tested the settings like in the video but i got when planes fly by or take off reprojection ( double vision)

Do you have any videos on pico for IL2 VR? I have 3080 EVGA hybrid, 32GB 3600 and 5700x. I am struggling to optimize my settings. I use steam VR.
Hi! Just a few contributions here:
Shadows: Flat Only are PROBLEMATIC and drain a lot of resources, more than any other.

@laubox
What I was wondering: for my Quest 2, in the Quest desktop app, it shows rendering resolution is 3616x1840 @ 72Hz. Should I then crank it up to 4128x2096?
Because other fun fact: no matter how I play around either with Hz setting, render resolution or the the ingame pixel density of 1 - 1.3, my fps stay at around 35
Ryzen5, 32 GB Ram, RTX 3060
Should i take the Fov up to 1.0+?
just seems the higher i increase the value the more the black areas on the sides seem to grow.
didn't see a a change the fact i have to go to these lengths just to play this game is really upsetting
What are your pc specs and what headset are you using?
Specs are a 3080 i7 12700k 32 gigs of ram at 3600mhz however I have been meaning to get a new motherboard lately as the one I have now doesn’t let me clock my ram I set it in bios and it doesn’t over clock to 3600 and stays at 2166
the openXR turbo crashes my Oculus when DCS is opened...the openxr by itself disabled it and then works normal 45fps on rtx 3070ti
