If I won the lottery, i wouldn't tell anyone, but there would be signs.
🤣
No one would know unless they came over to my house. I'd still drive the same truck, but I'd have one hell of a motion rig set up in my garage.
pretty cool piece of kit; there's another youtuber who has a fully custom built A-10 home cockpit and this kinda reminds me of that
@thewarthogproject is rad
You seem to be using a lot of stick even when you don't need to. The key to evading missiles is keeping your speed up, so if you learn to restrain yourself from pulling hard as soon as you hear the launch, you will see a lot of improvement quickly. Higher speed also means the AAA will have a much harder time hitting you.
I really appreciate how you walked through controls and explained why or what they were for. As someone who would like to work into DCS, this makes things a bit more understandable.
Bro you really got to try VR man, you'll never go back to flat-screen. Also have you tried DCS Liberation or Olympus? It's a must try for sure!
I fly in VR sometimes. It's just such an ass pain, difficult to record without making the audience sick, and I can't see my MIP.
And yeah, liberation is rad.
@@ControlledPairsGaming oh yeah that's true tho, recording can get pretty janky xD
@@ControlledPairsGaming It's extremely easy to record in VR. On the VR tab uncheck Enable HMD Mask and Check Use DCS System Resolution. Mirror Eye Source change to RIGHT EYE and Check Crop to Rectangle. It will record just like a 2D screen. Get OpenXR Toolkit and turn down the screen shake. I have a couple recordings in VR, but I did not have the OpenXR Toolkit screen shake reduction.
@@ComdrStew oh I know. I've done all that. I'm saying from an audience perspective it's much harder to watch. While I certainly love VR, it's just not worth it from a content perspective.
“$1500?!? Gotta pump those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers in this racket!” 💸😅😉
You're not wrong 🤣
Great video - nice rig.
I was so pleased when the background "music" ceased at FL15.
Great video! This is the first time I've seen what you look like I had no idea you were so buff💪.
You should have put your mailing address on here so that someone could mail you a 20oz tumbler to drink him. Is your kink with pilots or gamers? Just curious!! 😂😂😂
That was sick! Epic ending 🥲
Hey man hope all is well! I really hope you continue your RoN series and the DCS Syria series! 🤘🏻
Have you gotten any sort of haptics for your setup yet? Whether a buttkicker, a haptic pad like the HF8 from Next Level Racing, or a full seat mover, it adds quite a bit. I had a Jetseat from Gametrix that finally died, so I got the HF8, which has 8 haptic motors, 4 in the seat, 4 in the back, to provide some feedback. I had a buttkicker set up on my old wheelstand pro, which gave an awesome punch when firing the A-10's gun, and gave some good feedback for flaps, gear, and buffet when at high AoA. It's not perfect, but it gives you a little bit of "seat of your pants" feeling when flying.
Not yet. I've considered a butt kicker. I honestly don't know if I fly enough to make the final leap to haptics lol.
What’s your opinion on the HF8 vs the Jetseat?
@@MeplusYellow I've used it for about a week now, and there's a few things I can say:
1. The build quality seems much better on the HF8. The padding is a bit thicker, and there's a little more premium feel. I can still feel the motors under my butt, but it's not nearly as noticible as it was on the jetseat.
2. I did prefer the quick disconnect cables for both power and usb on the jetseat. The HF8 only has quick disconnect for the power. I think there's a feeling it's going to be mounted inside a pit, rather than on a desk chair that might need to move. Both setups were kind of clumsy, but I prefered the jetseat's. The HF8 does come out the right side rather than the left, which worked better for my current setup though.
3. While the HF8 has 8 motors, Simshaker only makes use of 6 channels. Currently it has a seperate channel for each of the 4 in the seat, and then just 2 channels for the back. Hopefully this will be configurable at some point, but it's a difference currently. I haven't messed with the HF8 software yet, as I've enjoyed Simshaker.
hey man, love the sim pit! absolutely dope, been eyeing that WW control panel since launch, planning on a bank heist here really soon, so i can pull the trigger on it already. (please dont tell anyone tho) anyways i was wondering if you have heard of the Tobii eye tracker? imo i think it out performs any of the head tracking devices out on the market. im only suggestion it because in the video it looks as if your neck should be hurting a bit by the time a mission is over with how much your having to to turn in order to look side to side or even behind ya. idk just food for thought buddy! keep up the great content man!
Looks cool. Not sure how it'd feel compared to head tracking. May take a look!
Great video! Very entertaining, thanks for making and sharing that! I was wondering what mission is this from? Is it an instant action one or part of a campaign you’re doing? Just curious, it looks really well made. Anyway, thanks again!
It's from the Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign by Looking Glass Studios. It's awesome!
Next time your in contact with kill house games can you ask if there's gonna be a door kickers 2 task force north mobile release for phones?
Vtol please 🙏
bro i would die for this id be the greatest f18 bumsweat to ever exist
VR makes all the difference. Once you go VR it's really hard to go back to 2D.
VR is fun. Sucks for the audience, though. So I stick to 2D, plus get to use all the hardware.
I got VR, and it's cool and all. But a system hog and the quality isn't quite there compared to my monitor. TrackIR just arrived today and I prefer it, especially when I can see my keyboard and hotas
Brother please make a detailed video on the actual kit next time.
fuck yes! more DCS
You simply disnt spend enough. 😅
DCS… yessssss…❤
your also using bose nc700 :3 one of the best headsets for me and i got them for free with my phone
What seat do you have? The armrests are unusual for a sporty seat
I believe it's the Corsair TC-100
Hey, I was wondering if you have heard of Microsoft flight sim? I haven't played it but i've done research on it and it seems like a very put together flight sim. I would love to see you try it out if you could!!!
More VTOL please;)
What is your setup. Sre you saying all that was only 1500$ i mean ive looked at joysticks and pedals that get me to that let alone a dash
Can you tell me where you got it as well as the head tracking
Yeah it's all in the description and the first 2 minutes of the video.
The things that were real game changers for me in DCS are when I bought a good joystick and pedals and when I bought a good quality VR headset. Screens do NOT compare to VR.
Everyone keeps saying this. But I have 3 VR headsets and keep coming back to screen+head tracking lol
@@ControlledPairsGaming I am the same way. VR is definitely amazing but it really just feels so clunky and, i guess maybe the best word is inefficient? Being able to physically touch some controls is so much better too. I can't use any toys like this in VR really, unless I like accurately recreate a 1:1 cockpit... at which point I would just surround with monitors lmfao
Try flying in vr after muscle memory sets in its way better
I fly in VR on occasion. Definitely immersive, not great for the audience experience.
Ok… take my like and subscribe. Would love to fly with ya sometime. We have our own server with “dynamic campaigns,” as best as DCS will allow, anyway.
He he haw haw
....all that money and no vr? VR is on a whole different universal level. You want realism. You need it. Once I went vr, a monitor would just be boring.
Meh. I have several VR headsets. I prefer flat screen for DCS, particularly for audience viewing enjoyment.
Pairs my man, can you try the newly released game Arena Breakout? They said that it is the most realistic fps rn
I may. Would like the asset theft allegations to get settled first. Really enjoying GZW at the moment.
Love the video and im actually considering getting the whole rig. However one thing, why r you using 6 sidewinder and now 2 sidewinders 2 harms. Could really help with the mission! As well as the sparrows, change them for aamraams.
Campaign had the load out locked
@@ControlledPairsGaming Ohhhh that explains a ton! my mistake i kinda already assumed that. Insanely fun video btw! im a 14 yo that flys the hornet, viper and now the phantom. And i dream about having such a setup. Currently i just own the simple winwing stuff.
Someone tag Bo time gaming. I think we might have nother wingman
i have a logitech ecosystem and it is the worst at registering controls for DCS, logitech ecosystem is just crap for flying
please tell me you didn't think a 1500$ setup would make you a better pilot....lol. VR would probably help. :D
Didn't think it would help, figured it would bait a few comments tho. Couldn't decide which of my 4 VR headsets to use.
Only proper training and proper practice will make you better. #FastJetPerformance
"Thrustmaster HOTAS Base"
Ah there's why it didn't make you a better pilot. Heavy sticky feeling base making your life hard. Get a Virpil base and plug your TM grip into it. Love life. Touch tips with the tanker first time every time.
cool sim rig: +1000 aura
flies the hornet: -9999999999999999999 aura
Perhaps not, but if you were a trained pilot, it could help you hone your skills. DCS is fun but it won't help you become a better pilot.
I don't get the excitement about unrealistic missions like this.
I understand its good visual content for people new to the hobby and combat aviation games in general but its worth to question these kind of mission setups.
Why would the enemy helos not immediately get defensive altogether the moment the Hornet appears on radar in the Aleppo airspace? At least after the first helo was splashed its beyond dumb to see the others continue their flights in several thousand feet of altitude to pose better targets for the Hornet. Not only would this never happen, its so blatantly far from reasonable human reactions that it pretty much destroys any immersion from this point on.
Note to airmanship: Master cautions/warnings were almost entirely disregarded and/or at least not commented on. Doesn't convey a professional pilot attitude at all. This is an issue with many content creators though, even the more renown ones.
The video editing is pretty good. The rig is cool as well, I'm surprised this has only been 1500 bucks.
Aircraft handling seemed ok. Personally I wouldn't have jettisoned that center tank that early, at this point there was no indication of needing more agility, only helos were announced. Would have kept them until a dogfight with enemy fighters appears likely. Also would have gotten into the hot zone much lower right from the start, to reduce exposure to the enemy SAM site and at the same time have less radar clutter behind the helo targets. Would have attempted to rely more on guns and Fox2 for the helos, save the Fox1/3 for fast movers.
Getting into the 100s airspeed range wasn't that necessary and added more risk than benefit but in summary it looks like you are doing very ok as a sim pilot.
Classic DCS video comment.
So much for "Scrambling". The war would be over by the time you get an F-18 set up and in the air. lol
HAHA was just talking shit ab how u cant case 3 in ur discord server (also if u have ur dispenser switch in the middle u can set it to manual mode in the ew page and still see how muh flare/chaff u have)
Never carry sparrows when you can carry more -120's. Sparrows are only really useful if you find yourself wading into a furball of friends and enemies, as you can drop the lock if you accidently trigger off on a friend. Otherwise you are losing two great missiles for two meh missiles. Oh, and they can sometimes be useful on choppers. Practically speaking, go Spam-Ram for CAP. A tank, 10 -120's and 2 -9x's.
Well yeah, but this is a campaign and you're not supposed to swap load outs at launch or you'll break the voice over work and the mission won't function as intended.
You should have just gone with WinWIng on all your controls; Thrustmaster stuff stinks. The only thing Thrustmaster does well is its TPR pedals. In terms of quality, WinWing destroys Thrustmaster.
Your rig is cool, but the Warthog stick is still holding you back more than anything IMO. It's just terribly imprecise, weirdly gimballed and sprung and completely undamped. It's gonna be the main reason why it "didn't make you better", because it's not better than budget sticks.
The stick is very fine. I guess what you are addressing here is the base to which the stick is attached to.
Of course , modern stick bases like a VPC MongoosT-50CM3 might offer more precision but still the decades old design of the Warthog base isn't bad at all and I don't think there is any basis to claim its as bad as to hold someone back while attempting to improve his skills. Its not. This has been the top hardware on the market for a long time. That we see some competitors coming up with new tech in the recent years is a good thing, yet doesn't turn the TM Warthog into crap.
@@go_rongor5975 Sorry, base, not stick. The control stick is fine enough. Unnecessarily heavy to be used with an undamped base and made of low-quality materials, but it has good functionality.
I don't really agree, the Warthog base is IMO insufficient enough that it would hinder learning vs using a base without issues. Great for it's time, though. I just would not suggest anyone invests in one anymore; especially when TM themselves have come out with an apparently superior product.
@@ArchOfficial I'd agree that with current alternatives, the old TM base wouldn't be a good choice. As far as I know TM just released a new base to address the exact problems you mentioned.
Still I think the old base won't make much different for regular use and whenever you are not exactly aiming for aerobatics precision. 👍
man thx to @tuuvas after watching this i have my xbox controller and vr headset and im good to go!!!
