    Probably the best history book I've ever read, showing the effect of "great" events on ordinary people's lives in a vivid, compassionate way.

    Fascinating book documenting the period. It makes a refreshing change to read the impact that the doctrinal struggles of the 16th Century had on those at the grass roots. The Edwardine period for example was devastating for the parish, the social structures as well as the religious life. Maybe all politicians should consider just how much stress their policies and machinations have on normal people. If we do not learn from history...

    I had a dream about a violent dream, that i cried in it with the things that i was seeing. So there was a guy there he helped me when people where being killed, he helped me and the last minute of the dream i asked his name he really said Morebath with punch like someone saying help
