  • Bella Heesom was proud of being in control of her emotions, and celebrated her rationality. In the face of devastating loss, she fought her feelings until she was unable to continue. What she found was that her emotions proved to be the key to a whole new way of approaching grief and, eventually, the rest of her life. Bella Heesom is an actor, writer and theatre-maker. After studying philosophy at Newnham College at the University of Cambridge, she trained at LAMDA, and has enjoyed lead roles and ensemble work in theatre, film and TV projects. She has performed her one-person play, My World Exploded a Little Bit, at the Edinburgh Fringe and is currently working on her second show, Rejoicing At Her Wondrous Vulva The Young Woman Applauded Herself, a piece celebrating female sexuality. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Through rationality you can control your emotions, dominate them, that does't mean suppress them... you can, for example, guide your emotions to the right direction, make them positive... controlling the direction the horses go you can make them go as intense as possible

I suggest the commenters of this video to watch HealthyGamer's video on logical thinking. He explains why "logical" or emotionless thinking leads to irrationality. Emotions are key indicators of what is going in your mind. Use them to better understand yourself and then fix the problem or achieve wanted result. Ignoring and hiding from emotions will lead to situation where your emotions will twist your perception in a subtle way and you will act irrational. Ignoring your emotions is like ignoring your own existence because you are not able to handle it

If I my may share my own two cents. Placing emotions first, not always, but often, has proven a petty choice rather than on optimal choice for all. Most of our emotions tend to be self-within; detaching ourself from others' points of view. And I'm a pisces, the "master" of emotion - according to astrology. wink*

Bella Heesom you need help. Really emotional choices have proven to be the most illogical choices ever in history.
